What to Do if You Mess With an Omega? - Chapter 14
“What, you’re not willing?”
“Ha, haha.”
Ning Hanzhu let out a dry laugh, then asked Xu Yuqing in a low voice, “Did you offend this Second Miss Luo in the past?”
Xu Yuqing hesitated for two seconds. “Well, it shouldn’t count as that. She and I just had a conflict over an Alpha. That person was originally her favored consort, but for some reason, he suddenly came to harass me.”
!!!
Wasn’t this exactly the clichéd love triangle where she loved him, he didn’t love her, but loved her instead?
“What do you mean my favored consort? That kind of fickle Alpha—Miss Ben doesn’t care for him one bit. But this one in front of me, well, this little appearance looks pretty decent.”
Ning Hanzhu was stunned for a moment before she realized Second Miss Luo was eyeing her with a beaming smile. “?”
No way, no way.
Xu Yuqing’s face turned cold. “If you’re going into heat, go do it somewhere else. Don’t dirty other people’s eyes.”
Second Miss Luo was so angry she wanted to curse something; she stamped her foot hard on the spot. She said to Ning Hanzhu, “You, get out of the way, or I’ll deal with you too.”
Ning Hanzhu felt like a sandwich cookie, caught between two sides with no escape—it was too difficult. “Ladies, ladies. As I see it, who hasn’t misjudged someone in their youth? There are thousands upon thousands of Alphas in the world—if this one doesn’t work, you can always switch to another. There’s really no need to ruin the harmony over someone like that.”
Second Miss Luo would not listen to this twisted logic. “I don’t care. Are you really not going to move? I’ll give you one more chance—move or not?”
With that, she raised the highly destructive weapon in her hand again.
Ning Hanzhu clenched her fists. Her upbringing made it impossible for her to abandon Xu Yuqing alone. “How about this—we negotiate. Let my little Qianqian leave. She’s still a child who understands nothing; she hasn’t even seen her own parents since she was born…”
Brother Lu and the others would probably help take care of her, right?
Xu Yuqing gave her a complicated look, then suddenly reached out and grasped her tightly clenched fist. “That’s enough.”
Ning Hanzhu tilted her head. She had not even finished speaking—what was enough?
Second Miss Luo tossed the beam rifle in her hand, and someone behind her quickly caught it. She clapped her hands. “That’s enough. It’s no fun. Tie everyone here up for me.”
At her command, the people behind her sprang into action with disciplined efficiency. Yan Feipeng tried to resist, but he got beaten down by the person next to Second Miss Luo—that had to be an exceptionally skilled Alpha, tall and long-legged, beating Yan Feipeng without breaking a sweat.
For the first time, Ning Hanzhu enjoyed watching such a one-sided battle. She felt quite happy seeing Yan Feipeng suffer; this guy who had wreaked havoc on West Street for over a decade, calling himself the king of West Street, was now trampled underfoot like a defeated hound.
But when she saw that person walking toward them step by step, she could not feel happy anymore.
Even though Ning Hanzhu had trained with Lu Yutang for a few days, she still saw herself as a delicate girl. She did not know how to fight.
“You take Qianqian and run first.”
“I’ll hold them off.”
The person stopped in front of Ning Hanzhu but then bowed toward Xu Yuqing. “Miss Xu, forgive us for startling you.”
Ning Hanzhu, “??”
Xu Yuqing nodded slightly and pulled Ning Qianqian to stand at Ning Hanzhu’s side. She coldly swept her gaze over Yan Feipeng, who was pinned down and unable to move. “Tear this place apart.”
Yan Feipeng’s pupils contracted in shock.
He tried to struggle, but someone stomped him back to the ground, his face pressed against the floor. As he watched that person wave a hand, the lair he had built with heavy investments quickly turned into a pile of rubble.
It looked downright comparable to Ning Hanzhu’s rundown shack.
Yet Second Miss Luo still felt it was not enough. She raised her chin slightly, and the abandoned building soon became a stretch of ruins. She walked disdainfully up to Yan Feipeng and ground her foot against his fingers. “You sure have some dog guts, daring to get ideas about my Sister Xu.”
Ning Hanzhu, who had watched the whole thing from the side, went numb.
Even if she was slow on the uptake, she should have realized by now that the relationship between Second Miss Luo and Xu Yuqing was not the clichéd “rival in love” she had guessed, but rather pretty good friends.
A sense of helplessness welled up in her.
Ning Hanzhu pulled Ning Qianqian to her side.
Xu Yuqing’s hand was suddenly empty. She looked toward Ning Hanzhu and saw a sullen face—this was the first time she had seen such an expression on the other woman.
She took a step forward.
Second Miss Luo was like a joyful little bird and hugged her full in the arms. “Sister Xu, you’re too much. You came out to play and didn’t even bring me along.”
Xu Yuqing patted her helplessly, but then she saw Ning Hanzhu leading Ning Qianqian off in another direction. “Wait for me a moment.”
With that, she hurried after them.
Second Miss Luo stood in place, curiously craning her neck to look.
Xu Yuqing had not expected the other woman to walk faster and faster. She could not help calling out.
“Ning Hanzhu.”
“Sister, pretty sister is calling us.”
Ning Hanzhu glanced at little Qianqian and stopped helplessly, though she did not turn around. “Miss Xu, is there anything else?”
So her surname was Xu.
That tone carried an indescribable distance.
Xu Yuqing suddenly did not know what to do. She paused for a moment to gather her thoughts. “Sorry, I didn’t expect Yan Feipeng to have people smash the house. I’ll compensate you for it.”
Ning Hanzhu let out a self-mocking laugh. “Sure. Then if that’s all, we’ll be going first.”
Xu Yuqing opened her mouth, but for a moment, she did not know what to say.
The house had been smashed.
Ning Qianqian had already cried.
Perhaps because the day’s experiences had been too frightening, Ning Qianqian had not walked far before she hugged her thigh. “Sister, hold me.”
Now the big and the small walked down the street on West Street. Because of the huge commotion just now, the street was surprisingly empty of people.
Ning Hanzhu picked her up.
Ning Qianqian buried her small face in her neck, her voice muffled. “Sister, are we homeless again?”
The word “home” held different meaning for Ning Hanzhu.
She had never thought that place of less than fifteen square meters was a home, but this house was different for the original body and Ning Qianqian.
It was the hard-won shelter they had on Elf Star, the home the two sisters had built together; every item inside was something they had scrimped and saved bit by bit to acquire.
Ning Hanzhu’s head ached. “No. Didn’t Qianqian want to live in a big, pretty house?”
As soon as Ning Qianqian thought of how the drawing with the big house was gone too, she could not hold back her tears, and they pattered down. “Mm.”
“Sister can’t afford a big house yet.”
“But we can set a small goal first. This year, we’ll live in a one-bedroom-two-hall apartment. Once sister earns a lot of money, we’ll buy a three-story house. Qianqian can raise a little dog, and we can get a robot too…”
It had to be said that Ning Hanzhu’s skill at painting cakes was top-notch. Under her soft depiction, Ning Qianqian finally stopped sobbing and even unknowingly fell asleep.
Everything in the dream was as beautiful as sister had described.
There was a big house, surrounded by blue moons planted all around. There was her, sister, and pretty sister.
