What to Do if You Mess With an Omega? - Chapter 15
Ning Hanzhu still remembered her main task.
She first entrusted the sleeping Ning Qianqian in her arms to Lu Qianran for safekeeping, then hurried off to rendezvous with Lu Yutang. “The plan might have changed.”
Lu Yutang was particularly surprised to see her. “You took down that whole group of Alphas on West Street?”
If Ning Hanzhu had that kind of ability, why would she need them to fight among themselves? She would have just twisted off Ning Ye’s head and avenged the original body directly.
So she told them about how Second Miss Luo had brought people to blast Yan Feipeng’s lair, especially since they had heard that the other side had actually brought heat weapons like rifles. A group of Alphas who had not seen much of the world all crowded around.
“Good thing we missed seeing it in person.”
“Did someone really kick Yan Feipeng flying with one blow?”
“Did they have a lot of rifles?”
“Does that Second Miss Luo still need people by her side?”
“…”
Ning Hanzhu felt like a dozen bees were buzzing around her, the clamor in her ears making her head ache terribly. “Stop.”
Lu Yutang still added one more line. “With your sorry state, you’re dreaming.”
Ning Hanzhu rubbed her forehead. “So now we need to come up with a new plan.”
Even if they brought out evidence of Ning Ye’s embezzlement, it would not matter much now. Whether Yan Feipeng could survive was another issue altogether. West Street would surely fall into chaos afterward, and given Ning Ye’s petty style, he might even use the opportunity to rise to power.
Lose one Yan Feipeng, gain one Ning Ye.
The power structure on West Street would remain unchanged.
Moreover, it would become even easier for Ning Ye to kill her.
Lu Yutang had obviously thought of this too. He nudged her with his elbow. “How about you talk to your friend and just take care of Ning Ye directly, to avoid any prolonged dreams that might breed trouble.”
Friend…
Could they even be considered friends?
She did not even know the woman’s name yet, so how could she have the nerve.
“How about giving it a try?”
“Give it a try.”
A try would mean her death.
Ning Hanzhu thought of how just an hour ago she had given Xu Yuqing the cold shoulder, and now for the sake of her own life, she had to go negotiate with her. So why could she not just rein in that proud sense of self-respect?
…
“Miss, someone is skulking around outside the door. Should we go take care of them—” He made a throat-slitting gesture.
Second Miss Luo glared slightly. “Do you think you’re a pirate? Always going for the neck at the drop of a hat.”
“Go bring the person in.”
Xu Yuqing held a cup of tea and stared blankly.
Second Miss Luo saw her absentminded. “Sister Xu, did you hear what I just said? What are you thinking about? Could it be that person who just shielded you with her life?”
Xu Yuqing was pestered by her until she could not pretend not to hear. “I heard. You said that fortunately Elf Star has your people, so you could rush over in such a short time and rescue me from trouble. So this time, what have you set your sights on from me?”
“How could I impose? Hehe.”
“I see you’re not imposing at all.”
When Ning Hanzhu was ushered in, she heard the two of them chatting idly. Xu Yuqing lounged languidly on the sofa, while the sweet-faced Second Miss Luo leaned half her body affectionately against her arm. Their relationship was indescribable.
“Huh.”
Second Miss Luo immediately perked up at the sight of her.
She stood up, circled Ning Hanzhu twice, rubbing her chin while appraising her. “Average height, decent looks.”
Ning Hanzhu was also sizing her up. If not for the scene of her charging in with a beam rifle on her shoulder, she might have thought the other woman was just a cute girl.
“I think you’re quite satisfied. How about you follow me from now on?”
“!?!”
A pie from the sky.
Such immense wealth actually falling on her head.
But Second Miss Luo’s next words made Ning Hanzhu’s hair stand on end. She said, “But I already have quite a few favored consorts. You can only rank sixth.”
“…”
Her words actually reminded Ning Hanzhu that the essence of this world was all about sauce and brewing again. She did not want to become one of the concubines in some harem story.
“Ha, ha, Second Miss Luo, I’m actually here to see Miss Xu.”
“Oh.”
Second Miss Luo saw her change the subject, her gaze flickering between Ning Hanzhu and Xu Yuqing before she revealed a meaningful smile. “I like you.”
Ning Hanzhu looked baffled.
Like her?
Like her what?
Xu Yuqing said, “That’s enough, Tianran.”
Luo Tianran winked at Xu Yuqing. “Sister Xu, you chat with her first. I still have a bit of family business to handle, so I’ll head out.”
She flitted away like a joyful sparrow.
With her gone, the room fell quiet again, the air seemingly filled with an atmosphere called awkwardness.
Ning Hanzhu looked at the ceiling, the floor, the walls—anywhere but how to face Xu Yuqing. After all, she had just been cold and dismissive toward her, and now here she was, scurrying over eagerly.
“What, are the walls better looking than me?”
“No, of course not.”
Xu Yuqing suddenly laughed. “Are you throwing a tantrum at me?”
“I wouldn’t dare.”
Xu Yuqing confirmed it—the other woman was indeed throwing a tantrum at her. Her fingers rubbed the rim of her cup. “Do you think I deliberately teased you this time? So you’re angry.”
Ning Hanzhu’s little face darkened. “Wasn’t it?”
It made her feel like a ridiculous clown.
Xu Yuqing pressed her lips together tightly. “Sorry.”
Ning Hanzhu, “???”
What had she just heard!!!
Ning Hanzhu’s mouth moved faster than her brain. “What did you just say? I didn’t hear clearly. Could you say it again?”
She regretted it as soon as she said it.
Xu Yuqing raised an eyebrow. “Ning Hanzhu, you didn’t come to find me just for compensation, did you?”
Given how they had gotten along these past few days, Xu Yuqing thought the other woman might actually do something like that. She pulled out her optical computer, about to ask for Ning Hanzhu’s account number, when she spotted a missed call record on it. Her hand paused.
She suddenly did not want to pay the compensation so readily.
Ning Hanzhu had no idea what she had just missed out on. Reminded by Xu Yuqing, she also remembered the real purpose of this visit. “Forget the compensation. But there is one thing I do want to ask your help with.”
“Of course, I won’t let you help for nothing.”
“What kind of help?”
Ning Hanzhu told her truthfully about the original body’s years of grievances with Ning Ye. The personal grudge was one aspect, but on the other hand, Ning Ye had committed plenty of evils alongside Yan Feipeng in his money-making schemes. Keeping a person like that around was just raising a tiger that would turn on them.
“What do you plan to do with Yan Feipeng?”
“Take him back to the capital star for the punishment he deserves.”
Ning Hanzhu did not know whether to feel relieved or regretful for a moment. She had thought they had the right to dispose of Yan Feipeng privately.
Xu Yuqing seemed to read her thoughts. “Don’t you think having them face judgment would be even more satisfying? Every wrong they’ve committed over these years should receive the punishment it deserves, one by one.”
Ning Hanzhu did not yet understand the laws of this world, but hearing Xu Yuqing put it that way made her suddenly feel that publicly judging Ning Ye for what he had done and slapping the main Ning family’s face would be the true way to deliver justice for the original body.
“Will they really be judged fairly?”
“Yes.”
Ning Hanzhu did not know the extent of Xu Yuqing’s capabilities, but facing those firm eyes, she suddenly felt she could believe it once.
Xu Yuqing saw her eyes light up and felt like laughing for a moment. “I’ll have people go catch Ning Ye. Now, we should talk about the reward. You just said you wouldn’t let me help for nothing.”
“…”
She had only said that offhand.
How did this woman remember it so clearly?
Ning Hanzhu spread her hands. “I have no money.”
Xu Yuqing nodded. She knew exactly how much the other woman had to her name. “No money is fine. Then repay with your body.”
“!!!”
Girls really needed to protect themselves when out in the world.
Ning Hanzhu looked troubled. “That doesn’t seem right. Can we do something else?”
She was an Alpha, and Xu Yuqing was a Beta. Even if repaying with her body, it seemed like Xu Yuqing would be the one at a disadvantage.
She then shook off that frightening thought. No, no, no—body transactions were absolutely out of the question. She was loyal to herself; that kind of thing could only happen with someone she liked.
Xu Yuqing watched her face cycle through colors like a palette and could not help wanting to laugh. “I’m teasing you. But have you ever thought about returning to the main family?”
Of course she had.
Ning Hanzhu wanted to slap the main family’s face hard for the original body. If not for their neglect, Ning Ye’s ambitions would not have grown so wild, and the original body would not have died.
They could not even tolerate two half-grown children; this main family probably had no one who understood reason.
Ning Hanzhu said, “I do. I dream about it.”
Xu Yuqing pondered for a good while. “I can get you back to the capital star, but you have to promise me one condition.”
Forget one condition—even ten would do.
Ning Hanzhu was just about to agree when she suddenly remembered something. “If I agree to your condition, can I bring one more person to the capital star with me?”
“Yes.”
…
Over here, the two had just sealed their deal.
Second Miss Luo’s people had already brought back the ghosting Ning Ye, so quickly that Ning Hanzhu felt like she was experiencing a dream.
Over these years, the original body had gone through untold hardships to escape Ning Ye’s suppression, even choosing an unfavorable path at the cost of everything.
Yet in the end, she still could not break free and even lost her life in the process.
Ning Ye was still struggling desperately. When he could not break free, he started yelling loudly like a ghost. “Brothers, let’s talk this out. Hey, hey, hey, easy there. I have money—lots and lots of money. Just let me go—”
Then his eye caught a glimpse of Ning Hanzhu standing coldly beside Xu Yuqing, watching him.
A flash of panic crossed his face, and Ning Ye finally understood why he had been brought here.
“You—”
“Quacking like a duck—it’s annoying as hell.”
Luo Tianran grumbled discontentedly, and immediately someone stuffed a filthy rag into Ning Ye’s mouth. Now he could only look toward Ning Hanzhu with muffled whines.
Ning Hanzhu smiled. “Don’t worry. I’ll take you back to the capital star.”
Ning Ye’s pupils shrank tightly.
The things he had done to Ning Hanzhu could not be known to the main Ning family. The Ning family’s neglect of the sisters, their willful ignorance, had signaled to him that orphan girls were easy to bully—that was one thing.
But all the private deeds he had done were another matter entirely.
No, no, no—he could not go back to the capital star.
