What to Do if You Mess With an Omega? - Chapter 17
In the end, neither of them won the argument.
Because Ning Qianqian had eaten too much and developed indigestion, her little belly swelled up, but she herself wilted.
Ning Hanzhu did not even know what to say. Children who had gone hungry always tugged at the heartstrings more. She slowly rubbed her little abdomen with her hand. “Qianqian, you can’t eat like this next time.”
Ning Qianqian whined and grumbled, her voice tiny. “Sister, boo hoo, am I going to die soon?”
Ning Hanzhu said, “Don’t talk nonsense. You just have a tummy ache.”
Knock knock knock.
The person standing outside the door was Xu Yuqing.
Ning Hanzhu invited her into the room. Xu Yuqing first took a look at Ning Qianqian. Ning Qianqian curled up on the bed, small as she was, with red-rimmed eyes as if she had just cried.
She took out a green pill that looked like candy. “Qianqian, eat this, and we’ll be better soon.”
Ning Hanzhu grabbed her slender wrist at once. “Wait, what is this now?”
Xu Yuqing frowned slightly. “An indigestion pill.”
Only then did Ning Hanzhu let go of her hand and allow her to feed it to Ning Qianqian. Ning Qianqian crunched it twice, treating it like candy and biting it to pieces before swallowing. Her eyes lit up after she ate it. “It’s sweet.”
Xu Yuqing glanced faintly at Ning Hanzhu. “Even if it’s sweet, you can’t eat it, or your sister might hit me.”
Ning Hanzhu felt wronged. “Where did that come from? Don’t say such things in front of a child.”
Xu Yuqing pointedly glanced at her own wrist, where the skin had turned red from the pinch. Her skin was so fair that the red mark stood out all the more.
Ning Hanzhu froze. She truly had no way to defend herself.
This woman must be made of water; she had only gripped lightly.
Had she really used that much force just now?
Xu Yuqing had no intention of continuing the topic, though. Instead, she gently coaxed Ning Qianqian. No one knew if it was the magic in her voice or the effect of the medicine taking hold, but Ning Qianqian actually fell asleep just like that.
For a moment, Ning Hanzhu felt that Xu Yuqing resembled Ning Qianqian’s sister more than she, the genuine older sister, did.
“Anyway, thank you for the indigestion pill.”
“What did you just say? I didn’t hear clearly. Could you say it again?”
Ning Hanzhu always felt that those words sounded familiar. Then it dawned on her—this was not what she had blurted out in a heated moment a few days ago? “How are you like this.”
Xu Yuqing showed that careless smile. “Oh, tell me then, how am I like this.”
Ning Hanzhu choked for a moment. Thinking that she might have to trouble the woman in front of her in the future, she immediately flashed a smile. “Miss Xu is understanding and considerate to a fault—simply the model of an ideal woman. Whoever marries you in the future will have been blessed with good fortune from a previous life…”
She unleashed a barrage of free compliments without any strain.
Xu Yuqing laughed at that. “Never mind. Take good care of Qianqian. If she feels unwell anywhere else, come find me.”
Ning Hanzhu’s smile this time was especially sincere.
Luo Tianran, who had witnessed the two flirting and bickering from around the corner, fell into contemplation. Once Xu Yuqing left and Ning Hanzhu closed the door, she could not help saying, “Yang Xiu, did you just see that? Sister Xu actually got teased into laughing by that Alpha.”
Yang Xiu was the Alpha who had taken down Yan Feipeng earlier.
“That Miss Ning, she…”
“What about her?”
Yang Xiu thought of their few encounters, where she had always remained unflustered and unhurried. “She shows no fear of me at all.”
Luo Tianran rubbed her chin. “Seems like it.”
“Find an opportunity to test her.”
“Yes, miss.”
Luo Tianran stuffed the pill in her hand into Yang Xiu’s palm. “No need for it now.”
Xu Yuqing’s pill proved very effective. The next day, Ning Qianqian had recovered her vitality. Ning Hanzhu did not dare let her eat recklessly again and controlled her diet in a planned way, giving her only half a tube of nutrient solution.
Lu Yutang had lain in his room gazing at the scenery all yesterday and knew nothing about Ning Qianqian’s indigestion. “How could you give her just this?”
Ning Qianqian gazed at her with pleading eyes.
Ning Hanzhu steeled her heart. “Qianqian is having a bit of trouble adjusting to the spaceship. It’ll be fine once we reach the capital star. Oh, right, Brother Lu, do you know how long it’ll take us to get there?”
Lu Yutang had taken spaceships to nearby stars before—some trips took a few hours, others a day—but none as far as the capital star. “Hard to say. I once heard a buyer mention that from our Elf Planet to the capital star, it takes at least half a month, and that’s on the shorter side. Some take a whole month.”
“So long.”
“The person who said that must have been fooling you. This spaceship of mine can get there in three days.”
Luo Tianran’s voice suddenly cut in. She acted as if they were old friends, so familiar. She came over and even draped one hand on Ning Hanzhu’s shoulder, her fingers naturally twirling a strand of hair that had slipped from Ning Hanzhu’s earlobe.
Ning Hanzhu broke out in goosebumps. She did not particularly like people getting this close.
She stood up abruptly. “Second Miss Luo, have a seat here.”
Luo Tianran had no intention of letting her off that easily, though. “What Second Miss Luo? That’s so distant. From now on, just follow Qianqian’s lead and call me Sister Tianran.”
Ning Qianqian cooperated perfectly. “Sister Tianran.”
Luo Tianran pinched her little cheek smugly. “See how obedient Qianqian is.”
Ning Hanzhu had black lines all over her head. “…”
This was a little sister.
Moreover, this was the first time she had heard of such a naming convention—older sister following the younger one’s way of calling? It upended the natural order.
What was more, it was not even clear who was older between the two of them.
Lu Yutang looked curiously from Luo Tianran to Ning Hanzhu. From appearances alone, it was impossible to tell who was older. “If I may be so bold, Second Miss Luo, how old are you this year?”
Luo Tianran puffed out her full chest proudly. “Sister just turned of age this year.”
Ning Hanzhu said with relief, “Then I’m a year older than you.”
This body was just nineteen.
Luo Tianran, “…”
She was unhappy now.
Ning Hanzhu finally breathed a sigh of relief at not having to call her Sister Tianran anymore. Otherwise, calling a baby-faced little girl “sweet sister” would have felt utterly strange.
“Then doesn’t that mean you have to call me sister?”
“?”
Xu Yuqing arrived just in time to hear them comparing ages. The corners of her mouth curved up as she leaned in close. “Call me sister, and you won’t lose out.”
Luo Tianran watched the show with glee and egged her on. “That’s right. Calling her Sister Xu would be you getting the better end of the deal.”
“??”
Was today Sister Recognition Day or something?
Ning Hanzhu did not really want to call her that. After all, her real age was over twenty-seven, and calling someone younger than herself felt inexplicably embarrassing.
Ning Qianqian seized the opening. “Pretty sister.”
Xu Yuqing patted her little head. “Good Qianqian.”
Then Xu Yuqing looked at Ning Hanzhu with a smile, her gaze clearly implying, see, even Qianqian calls me that—shouldn’t you show some response too?
Ning Hanzhu played dumb. “Miss Xu, your outfit today has such great taste—elegant and poised, really eye-catching…”
Xu Yuqing could not help laughing every time she saw Ning Hanzhu deliver rainbow farts so earnestly. How could this person be so adorably silly, not even knowing how to come up with a proper excuse? “Do you really think I look good?”
Ning Hanzhu nodded vigorously like pounding garlic. “Yes, truer than true gold.”
