What to Do if You Mess With an Omega? - Chapter 18
As Luo Tianran had said, their spaceship arrived smoothly at the capital star after three days.
For Ning Hanzhu, who had never ridden a spaceship before, it was an experience like time flying by. She took Ning Qianqian along to admire the scenery the whole way. The vast and magnificent cosmic panorama left a deep impression on her, breathtaking in its beauty.
She seemed to understand a little why Xu Yuqing had wanted to see the aurora and butterfly swarms on Elf Star, though it was a bit regrettable that she still had not seen them in the end.
The spaceship landed at the dedicated landing pad.
The group disembarked immediately.
Ning Hanzhu held Ning Qianqian in her arms. It had already passed bedtime, and Ning Qianqian had dozed off in her embrace. Ning Hanzhu did not wake her. Instead, she and Lu Yutang strolled along at the very end. As soon as the three emerged, the luxurious landing pad dazzled their eyes. It was the dead of night right then, yet the bright lights illuminated the sky as if it were daytime. In the distance, hover cars sped by one after another, then stopped at the designated spots marked by signs.
They seemed to be there to pick up people.
“Wow.”
“It feels like the air on the capital star is even livelier than back home.”
“…You’re not wrong to put it that way.”
Since it was the capital star, the central hub where power overlapped, the place everyone flocked to, it was only natural for it to be bustling. The two adults and the child were like country bumpkins entering the city, inevitably looking around more and feeling more curious.
But after walking not far, Ning Hanzhu stopped in her tracks.
Those who had come down from the same spaceship as them included Yan Feipeng and Ning Ye and the others. They had almost been shoved off. After a few days apart, the two once high-spirited Alphas looked as if they had been tortured. Their steps were unsteady, their faces haggard, as though they had aged a dozen years.
Ning Hanzhu almost failed to recognize them at first glance.
“Why aren’t you walking?”
“Oh, Yan Feipeng dared to lay hands on Miss Xu, so Miss Luo had people entertain them every day.”
“Serves them right.”
In the end, Yan Feipeng simply refused to believe he had kicked an iron plate. After years of lording over West Street, he had long grown arrogant and lawless. Fortunately, this time he had run into Xu Yuqing and Luo Tianran. If it had been some ordinary Beta girl, she probably would have fallen victim to his clutches long ago.
As the two spoke, Yang Xiu had people escort them in another direction. Not long after they walked away, a team in uniforms arrived to take custody.
Ning Hanzhu clearly heard Yang Xiu’s voice.
“These few Alphas were so bold as to offend Second Miss Luo, so we’re handing them over to you for handling.”
“Take good care of them.”
“Don’t worry. We know how to deal with their kind.”
Once the handover was complete, they took the people away.
Ning Hanzhu felt a bit puzzled but did not dwell on it. Instead, Yang Xiu suddenly glanced in her direction and came jogging over. “Miss Xu, the miss has arranged accommodations for you all. Please follow me.”
Luo Tianran had arranged a small garden villa for them, three stories high. Inside, aside from the robots, there was no one else.
After Yang Xiu saw them there, he thoughtfully assigned a nanny robot to look after them and then left.
Lu Yutang first ran up and down the stairs, opening every room to look inside. When he returned, he said excitedly to Ning Hanzhu, “I checked. There are over a dozen rooms. Can we just pick whichever? This Second Miss Luo is way too generous.”
Ning Hanzhu, however, had little interest in the house.
“Brother Lu, I’ll settle Qianqian in for sleep first. We’ll talk about anything else tomorrow.”
“Oh, right, right. My bad for getting too excited.”
“See which room you want. I’ll sleep next door to you two.”
Ning Hanzhu chose a room with its own bathroom. She first placed Ning Qianqian on the bed, then used a towel to wipe her down. Only afterward did she clean herself.
Actually, they had kept clean every day on the spaceship, but now that they had truly landed, it felt different. It was as if her anxious heart had suddenly become grounded.
They had finally returned.
After washing up, Ning Hanzhu lay beside Ning Qianqian but found she could not fall asleep right away.
She could still hear Lu Yutang’s footsteps as he ran up and down like some parkour enthusiast, like a total mountain monkey who could not stay still for a moment. Later, she heard him teasing the nanny robot… until the poor thing was on the verge of smoking from all his commands before it finally quieted down.
Ning Hanzhu checked the time.
Three fifty in the morning.
She forced herself to close her eyes and rest. This sleep carried her straight through to the afternoon, when she woke to the glaring light from the window. She instinctively reached to the side—empty.
Ning Hanzhu jolted fully awake.
Fortunately, she soon heard Ning Qianqian’s laughter from downstairs. Lu Yutang truly had endless energy; he was accompanying Ning Qianqian in watching cartoons right then. The coffee table was laden with the meals the nanny robot had prepared for them, looking especially abundant.
“Bamboo, you’re finally up. Come, have something to line your stomach first.”
“Sister drink.”
Ning Qianqian held one thing in each hand—milk in her left, a steaming hot pancake in her right. She took a sip of milk, then a bite of pancake, not neglecting either hand.
Ning Hanzhu let Ning Qianqian eat on her own, then casually opened a tube of nutrient solution. To her surprise, not only did it taste more delicious than any she had tried before, but after drinking it, even her listless spirits lifted. This was probably the nutrient solution that boosted mental strength—expensive stuff.
“Brother Lu, we need to find time to go out and have a look around.”
Lu Yutang was surfing the starnet on his optical computer. “If you hadn’t slept until now, I would’ve taken you two out for a stroll this morning. But Bamboo, you sleep way too much. And how could you even fall asleep? I was excited all night. Don’t worry, I downloaded the map. But this place is a bit far from the city center. We’ll need to find some means of transport first.”
The most common means of transport on the capital star was the hover car.
Ning Hanzhu thought that because he could not sleep, he had disturbed her too. She opened her optical computer, originally intending to check the starnet, but unexpectedly found a message lying quietly inside.
[Find me when you’re awake.]
She glanced at it. It seemed to have been sent at seven in the morning.
Ning Hanzhu remembered this optical computer number. Not long ago, it had even called her for a video chat, which she had hung up on because she was busy catching Ning Ye. But that had been on Elf Star. This time, it was on the capital star.
A thread of suspicion rose in her heart.
The original body only knew a few people, with Lu Yutang in front of her being the most familiar. Beyond that, only one other person was the least likely.
[May I ask who you are?]
The next second, a video call came through directly.
Ning Hanzhu’s hand shook, and she answered it. Xu Yuqing’s clear face appeared before her eyes, her features exquisite. Her long hair cascaded down her back, and she wore a stunning red dress with expensive jewelry around her neck, as if she were about to attend some important banquet.
She looked different from the Xu Yuqing Ning Hanzhu had seen before. Her every gesture carried a touch more of a mature woman’s allure.
Then she lowered her gaze. “Ning Hanzhu, you slept a full twelve hours.”
Ning Hanzhu, “…”
Those words were perfectly normal.
So why did they make her feel inexplicably embarrassed?
Xu Yuqing saw her face flush and smiled lightly. “I’ve been waiting for you all along.”
