What to Do if You Mess With an Omega? - Chapter 28.1
The location Ning Yingwu had chosen was quite remote from where she was. Ning Hanzhu calculated the time to make sure she could still pick up Ning Qianqian on schedule, then took the hover train. After arriving, she still had to walk a long way. There was no one around, and in the distance stood a no-entry sign.
The surrounding houses looked terribly abandoned, uninhabited.
She had not expected the capital star to have a place like this.
[I’m here.]
She waited a moment and soon spotted Ning Yingwu, along with a group of his little followers who had styled their hair like light bulbs. Each held a stick in hand. Ning Hanzhu could not help laughing outright, showing no mercy.
“Is the fashion for hairstyles on the capital star this trendy now?”
“What do you mean?”
He could not even detect the mockery.
Ning Hanzhu had no interest in wasting words with him. “You brought me to this godforsaken place. What do you intend to do?” She jerked her chin toward the group behind him. “After all these years, you haven’t changed your tricks at all. Ning Yingwu, you are nothing but a waste.”
Ning Yingwu exploded with rage. Upon hearing from others that Miss Yuqing had personally admitted Ning Hanzhu was her girlfriend, how could it not infuriate him?
Xu Yuqing could accept anyone as her protector, anyone but Ning Hanzhu.
“Beat her to death.”
The little followers had been paid, and with the money in hand, it was easy to proceed.
Besides, teaching one person a lesson was simple.
The five of them closed in. The lead follower let out a creepy chuckle. “Sorry about this. We’re just doing a job for pay.”
But then Ning Hanzhu pulled a thicker stick than theirs from her waist.
“Good thing I came prepared.”
She had specially brought a dog-beating stick before coming, designed for cowards like Ning Yingwu. From memory, even as a child, Ning Yingwu had driven groups against others, all about fighting dirty—more despicable than Yan Feipeng.
She smiled faintly. “Actually, I believe in settling things peacefully.”
But with sticks already swinging at her face, she could not just stand there doing nothing. This was self-defense.
The trajectories of those few sticks unfolded clearly in her vision. Ning Hanzhu thought, too slow. She casually snatched one and then knocked each of them on the knee in turn.
One clash.
The scene of Ning Hanzhu huddling and fleeing under a barrage of sticks did not occur. Instead, the group he had called thudded to their knees one after another, wailing and howling like ghosts and wolves.
Ning Yingwu, “?”
This was not how he had imagined it.
Ning Yingwu felt deeply displeased. “Get up! I told you to come beat her, not kneel to her.”
The lead follower wore a bitter expression. He wanted to, but after so many fights, he knew at a glance who was superior. When it was time to cower, he cowered—that was his long-honed way of the world. “Big sis, spare us. It was Ning Yingwu who hired us to deal with you. We can give you all his payment. Please let us off this once.”
Ning Hanzhu tapped the ground with her stick and extended her hand, revealing her optical computer. The lead follower had sharp eyes and transferred the money at once.
“Next, we have some family matters to handle. Outsiders are not welcome.”
“Got it, big sis. We’ll roll right out.”
The lead follower tried to stand, but his kneecap throbbed with pain from the blow. In the end, he could only crawl away.
Once the group had crawled off into the distance, Ning Hanzhu sized Ning Yingwu up and down. Her gaze was like a butcher at the market, eyeing which cut of meat on him would be easiest to carve. She suddenly chuckled. “Ning Yingwu, you probably have no idea of your own value.”
Ning Yingwu, “!?”
He retreated a step warily, somewhat regretting not calling more people.
Ning Hanzhu had no intention of letting him escape. She cupped her hands to her mouth and let out a long, drawn-out whistle. The people already lying in wait popped their heads out one by one. Counting them, there were over a dozen.
Yo, quite the production.
Ning Yingwu stared in shock at the approaching group—all tall and burly, looking exceptionally fight-ready. Where had she found these people? He cowered and cursed, “Ning Hanzhu, you are despicable. Calling so many people.”
Ning Hanzhu suppressed the urge to roll her eyes.
“Tie him up.”
Ning Yingwu trembled all over in fear but still held his tongue stubbornly. “Ning Hanzhu, you dare. If even one hair of mine is missing, my mom will never let you go.”
Ning Hanzhu smiled at him and swung a fist.
“Ow, you hit me.”
“Yes, so be good and stay quiet, okay?”
Ning Yingwu covered his face in humiliation and finally behaved.
Ning Hanzhu felt inner turmoil and indignation. Ah, how had she become so violent? This was absolutely not her nature. But seeing the injury on Ning Yingwu’s face, she was still quite satisfied.
There happened to be an empty house nearby for use. With heaven, earth, and man all aligned, she had to admit Ning Yingwu’s talent for courting death was top-notch.
After tying him up, they simply stood guard without moving.
Ning Hanzhu curled her lip. She still had to do it herself. She glanced around and spotted a sister with a knife at her waist. “Lend me the knife for a bit.”
The woman did not budge, merely glancing at her.
“Just a borrow. Don’t be so stingy. Otherwise, have her come interrogate personally.”
“…”
Ning Hanzhu got the knife as wished.
Seeing her approach with the knife, Ning Yingwu’s legs shook. “Y-you, what are you doing?”
Ning Hanzhu traced the blade over him, first across his self-proclaimed handsome face, then the neck, down the chest, to the man’s lower regions. She suddenly realized that in this world, Alphas cared most about their glands. Threatening the gland at the back of his neck might work better. “You said earlier you would smash all my mom’s things and not give them to me, right?”
Ning Yingwu dared not even breathe, even feeling aggrieved enough to cry. He—he had only said that in a fit of rage.
And he had not actually smashed anything.
“Do you like Xu Yuqing that much?”
Without waiting for an answer, Ning Hanzhu laughed again. “I misspoke. ‘Like’ is too good for someone like you. You just like the power and money she can bring you, right? Your Ning family—no, your mom is aiming for exactly that. But say I castrate your gland. Would you still have a chance to compete?”
Ning Yingwu’s pupils dilated in terror. “Y-you, don’t do that. At worst, I just won’t have anyone beat you up anymore.”
Ning Hanzhu burst out laughing. “As if your mom would let me off.”
Ning Yingwu choked, because she was right.
Ning Hanzhu twirled the knife, smiling amiably. “Alright, to the point. Now I ask, you answer. Answer wrong, and don’t blame me.”
“…”
Half an hour later, Ning Hanzhu had the answers she wanted. She had thought it would take more effort, but Ning Yingwu turned out to be a total softie, spilling everything. She had not even used the knife and handed it back to the sister.
“How does a scheming operator like Du Rongrong end up with such a cowardly son?”
“…”
The sister gave her a deep look, wiped the knife disdainfully over and over, then tucked it back at her waist.
Ning Hanzhu knew these people kept discipline, but did it not get boring? “Alright, the rest is on you.”
She clapped her hands and turned on the camera.
Ning Yingwu watched two masked bruisers approach him. Ning Hanzhu filmed him from every angle without mercy. He screamed, “Y-you, don’t come over. What are you going to—ow ow, don’t hit, don’t hit my face!!!”
…
Du Rongrong received the extortion video half an hour later. Seeing her son in the frame, beaten black and blue, howling for help nonstop, her heart ached as if dripping bl00d. “Husband, look at these people. They are so audacious. Think of something quick.”
The only solution Ning Hesong could think of was to call his eldest daughter immediately. She was in the military, with influence.
“Call—call Ruoxin.”
“Call her? She never treats Yingwu like a brother. What use would that be?”
“It will work.”
Ning Hesong refused to believe his daughter would let him die. He dialed Ning Ruoxin’s optical computer at once. Miraculously, she answered.
“Ruoxin, your brother has been kidnapped. The kidnappers demand one billion. You must save him.”
“I’ll come right back.”
Du Rongrong frowned. Would she be so kindhearted?
This one had always treated them mother and son like air. Even if she dropped dead right in front of her, Ning Ruoxin might not twitch an eyebrow. Why the sudden change today? Unusual, too unusual. “Husband, will Ruoxi help?”
Ning Hesong comforted her. “Of course. She is a Ning after all, and her heart is with us. Don’t always suspect her like that in the future.”
Du Rongrong still felt something off but could not say what.
Ten minutes later, Ning Ruoxin strode in with her guards, ignoring Du Rongrong’s just-raised smile and questioning Ning Hesong directly about Ning Yingwu. Du Rongrong tried interjecting several times but was treated like air.
She frowned through the live extortion video.
Seeing her expression remain poor, Du Rongrong thought she refused to help. Thinking of Ning Yingwu’s suffering, she set aside her pride. “Ruoxi, I was wrong before. You must save your brother. He is my life. As long as you help this time, I’ll do anything you ask.”
“Anything at all?”
Ning Ruoxin stared at Du Rongrong with a mocking smile. The latter felt her scalp tingle under those cold eyes.
“Remember what you just said.”
With that, she turned and left.
But Du Rongrong found that smile utterly chilling. Had she learned something?
