What's Wrong With Being Fifteen Years Older Than Me?! - Chapter 26.2
After that, they continued south and went to many other places. The vacation flew by. There were only three days left, and they had reached their last destination. It was a coastal city and one of the most famous tourist cities in the country. Lu Zhiyun’s hotel was right by the sea. They could see the blue ocean and feel the sea breeze from the balcony.
“Xiaoli, we’re going to the beach.” Lu Zhiyun came out of the bathroom in her swimsuit. Ye Li, who was standing on the balcony looking at the scenery, turned around and saw this. The woman was wearing a sexy bikini, showing off her full, fair chest. Her curvy figure was elegant and graceful. Her waist was a beautiful curve, and her stomach was completely flat. Her perfect proportions made her legs look even longer.
“Auntie Lu, are you sure you want to wear that to the beach?” The girl was stunned for a moment and couldn’t help but ask. Isn’t her chest showing a little too much, and the bottom a little too small?
“Bikinis are like this. We’ll go to the store downstairs and pick out one for you, too,” Lu Zhiyun said and put on a white sun protection shirt. Ye Li gritted her teeth. Can I say no to that?!
When they left the hotel, there was a store selling all kinds of swimwear right across the street. Lu Zhiyun immediately picked out a sexy bikini just like the one she was wearing. She was holding it in her hand, thinking about it, and then glanced at Ye Li. Ye Li’s heart sank. She didn’t want to wear that, did she? She would rather die.
“Are you looking for a bikini, miss? You have such a great figure. This one would look perfect on you!” the salesperson recommended politely.
“No, this one isn’t right for Xiaoli,” Lu Zhiyun said, shaking her head. She put the bikini back and looked at the salesperson. “Find one for this little beauty.”
Ye Li, who was sitting with her legs crossed: …Is she talking about me? Her face felt a little hot.
The salesperson looked at Ye Li and immediately smiled. “Then you can wear this one! Young girls now are more bold and open.”
Lu Zhiyun still calmly shook her head. “She’s not eighteen yet. It’s not appropriate.” The salesperson looked at Ye Li in disbelief. That tall girl is still a minor?!!
In the end, they chose a more conservative swimsuit. Ye Li reluctantly put it on. It was more like a short dress and didn’t show much. They left the store and slowly walked to the beach. It was dusk. The orange sky was reflected on the shimmering ocean. The collision of the vibrant colors was beautiful.
There were all kinds of people on the beach. The women were wearing different styles and colors of swimwear, and the men were a little more casual. Some were just walking around in swim trunks without a shirt.
“Auntie Lu, do you want to go for a swim?” Ye Li blurted out. Then, she remembered something and frowned. Lu Zhiyun stood on the shore and gently shook her head. “You go. Don’t swim too far. Be careful.”
“Okay,” she said. The girl went into the water by herself. She had almost forgotten that Auntie Lu couldn’t swim. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to, but her body wouldn’t let her. But Auntie Lu had signed Ye Li up for swimming classes every summer. That was how Ye Li learned how to swim. She also easily learned different strokes like the breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke. Maybe, in a way, it was a hope for her.
Ye Li played in the water for a while. Then, she floated on her back to rest. When she looked up at the shore, she saw the woman resting on a beach chair. The beach was crowded, but her fair skin and beautiful looks still made her stand out. The girl gently moved her arms. She saw a man walking toward Auntie Lu. They seemed to be talking, but then the man actually started to touch her. Ye Li immediately got worried and quickly swam to the shore.
“We’re all just here to have fun. Don’t be so shy. Come have a drink with me. We can go sing or dance. And if you want, we can get a room.” The man’s big hand was on the woman’s arm, and he had a malicious smile on his face. The people around them thought it was just a couple flirting and didn’t pay attention.
“Sir, if you don’t let go, I’ll report you for sexual harassment.” Lu Zhiyun warned him one last time, her eyes cold. But in the next second, Ye Li came and punched the man in the face. He stumbled back and almost fell.
“What do you think you’re doing in broad daylight? Have some shame!” The girl wasn’t afraid at all. She punched him and dared to confront him again. Lu Zhiyun was a little surprised by what was happening. For a moment, it seemed like the girl she had been protecting had grown up.
The man was holding his face, ready to fight back, but he noticed that people were starting to gather and talk. He didn’t want to make a scene, so he turned around and ran away in a hurry. Ye Li puffed out her chest, pretending she wasn’t afraid, but her heart was racing. When she saw the man run away, she finally felt a sense of relief.
“Auntie Lu, are you okay? Did that guy…” The girl turned around and asked, concerned. She stopped in the middle of her sentence when she saw the woman smiling. She asked, confused, “What are you smiling about?”
“I’m fine. Thank you, Xiaoli,” Lu Zhiyun said with a relieved smile. The woman then said, “But you shouldn’t have used your hands in a situation like that, Xiaoli. If we make the first move, we lose the advantage.”
“I wasn’t thinking that much…” The girl looked down at her red knuckles and quietly curled her fingers.
“Let me see your hand. Does it hurt?”
“It doesn’t!” Ye Li quickly hid her hand behind her back and looked away. “They’re selling coconuts over there. I’ll go buy two!” She said and started walking away stiffly.
When she came back with the coconuts, Ye Li gave one to Auntie Lu and held one herself. She put the straw in and took a sip. It wasn’t very cold, but it was enough to cool her down.
“Are you not swimming anymore, Xiaoli?” the woman asked in a low voice. The girl, who was sitting next to her, shook her head. She let the sea breeze mess up her bangs. “No, it’s getting dark.”
“Does your hand really not hurt? Let me see.” Lu Zhiyun leaned in closer. Ye Li was holding the coconut. She figured she had already been seen, so she didn’t try to hide it anymore. She bravely held her hand out to the woman.
“It doesn’t feel like anything now,” the girl said stubbornly. Lu Zhiyun took her hand, looked up, and said, “So it did hurt just now.”
Ye Li: “…” She didn’t say anything and continued to drink her coconut water as if nothing had happened. The next second, the woman leaned down and gently blew on her hand.
Ye Li: “…”
“It really doesn’t hurt, Auntie Lu,” the girl said, her voice a little pleading and resigned.
“Don’t do that again. I don’t want you to get hurt because of me,” Lu Zhiyun said, raising her eyebrows and her tone gentle but firm. Ye Li felt a little awkward and quickly pulled her hand back. She held the coconut again.
They went back to the hotel shortly after dark. The next day, they took a boat to a nearby island and spent the day there. Since it was their last night before they had to leave, the first thing Ye Li did when they got back to the hotel was pack her things. Then, she took out her unfinished summer homework to do a final push. Lu Zhiyun didn’t disturb her. To give her a quiet environment, she went to the coffee shop downstairs by herself.
Several hours passed. Ye Li finished all her homework, and it was already eleven at night. Auntie Lu still wasn’t back. She couldn’t help but send a message to ask.
[Ye Li: I’m done. Where are you?] [Lu Zhiyun: I’m still at the coffee shop downstairs. I’ll be right back.]
The girl looked at the time on her phone and decided to open the door and leave the room. The two of them met in the hotel lobby.
“Why did you come down?” Lu Zhiyun asked, a little surprised.
“We’re leaving tomorrow, and I wanted to go for a walk on the beach,” Ye Li said.
“Then I’ll go with you,” Lu Zhiyun said, a little worried. Ye Li didn’t refuse because she was planning to ask her to come along anyway.
The beach was almost empty close to midnight. The wind carried the faint smell of the ocean and cooled down the summer heat. They walked along the shallow beach and found a big rock to sit on, facing the sea. They were leaving tomorrow, and Lu Zhiyun had some things she wanted to say.
“After tomorrow, Xiaoli, you’ll officially be a senior. I hope you can still stay happy even with the stress of school. Studying is important, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself.” The girl nodded absentmindedly and said, “Mhm.”
Lu Zhiyun smiled slightly and looked up at the sky in the distance. A bright moon hung over the ocean, giving off a soft light. “Time really flies. It feels like just yesterday you were a shy twelve-year-old girl, and now you’re so grown up,” the woman said with a sigh. “I hope that no matter what happens in the future, you can be a happy person, have a good career and a good partner, and live a happy life.”
Everything Ye Li heard sounded like a farewell. She couldn’t help but interrupt. “Are you going back to the US after tomorrow?”
“Why would I? You still have eleven months until your college entrance exam, right?” Lu Zhiyun was amused by her question.
“Oh,” the girl said, feeling annoyed again.
