Chapter 40: The Qi Family Is Rolling in Cash
The auction was in full swing in the banquet hall, and everyone was inside.
Song Cun, who had wanted to get some fresh air, was frozen at the corner of the corridor. Not far away, an alpha and an omega stood on the terrace, seemingly in the middle of a heated argument. The petite omega in a light blue gown looked panicked and was trying to leave, but the dominant alpha blocked her way, even grabbing her wrist.
“General Manager Song, please don’t do this! Let go of me!”
The omega’s expression was panicked, and her voice trembled with fear. Her frightened and helpless appearance seemed to excite the alpha even more. He held the glass of wine in his other hand to her lips.
“It’s just sleeping together. Why are you acting so pure? You may look innocent, but who knows how much of a slut you are in bed? I’ve seen plenty of omegas like you. I don’t know how many people you’ve been with, so what’s wrong with being with me once? I can give you more resources than anyone else.”
The omega heard these vile words and struggled harder, her voice choked with sobs. “General Manager Song, please have some self-respect, or I’ll call for help.”
The alpha’s expression became even more lewd and excited. “Then call! There are plenty of reporters inside. If you want to get famous this way, I don’t mind helping you—” As he spoke, he raised his glass, grabbed the omega’s chin, and tried to force her to drink, a twisted, excited smile on his lips. “You’re just a new actress. Don’t be so ungrateful!”
Tears were already streaming down the omega’s face. Just as she was feeling terrified and hopeless, she suddenly heard someone call her name from behind.
“Xu Yan.”
The alpha raised his eyes and saw Song Cun walking out from the corridor. He stopped what he was doing.
As if granted a great reprieve, Xu Yan pushed the alpha’s glass away, spilling wine all over the ground. Seeing Song Cun walk over, tears welled up in her eyes.
“The director is looking all over the banquet hall for you. Go inside quickly.”
Xu Yan quickly wiped the tears from her face. She gave Song Cun a grateful look as she passed him, then lifted her skirt and quickly ran into the hall.
After Xu Yan left, Song Cun had no intention of getting entangled with this scumbag. He turned to walk away, but behind him, a sneering laugh rang out, followed by a round of applause.
“Isn’t this my dear brother?”
“What are you playing, hero saves the beauty?”
Song Huai walked over to Song Cun unhurriedly. He stopped right in front of him before speaking again, his expression full of mockery.
“Don’t forget, you’re just an omega who was sent to the Qi family to be a plaything.”
Song Cun’s hand curled into a fist at his side. He really didn’t want to have anything to do with Song Huai anymore; even one more word with him felt like eating a pile of garbage. Since he became financially independent at 18 and moved out, he had rarely gone back to the Song family. He also tried to avoid dealing with anyone from the family, especially Song Huai. He was afraid he wouldn’t be able to resist hitting him and then get on the trending searches for fighting. It wasn’t worth it to jeopardize his career for a scumbag like this. But in the situation just now, Song Cun couldn’t have pretended he didn’t see anything.
As expected, the moment Song Huai opened his mouth, Song Cun felt nauseous. Song Huai’s lips were curved in a sneer. He put his hands in his pockets and continued his snide, sarcastic taunts.
“I can’t believe that your annoying face is actually worth 500 million yuan. The Qi family is really rolling in cash.”
Song Huai said this and took out a cigarette, lighting it. Seeing the red glow, Song Cun’s body almost twitched from a conditioned reflex. He flashed back to a memory from his childhood, where Song Huai held him down and burned him with a cigarette. Song Cun’s fingers at his side trembled uncontrollably. Every time he saw Song Huai smoke, he had this stress reaction. But Song Cun tried his best to control it. He had to. He couldn’t let Song Huai find out, or else his brother would be even more excited and twisted, and would escalate the bullying.
Song Huai had always found joy in bullying Song Cun since they were kids. Maybe it was because he heard his father constantly calling Song Cun a bad omen that would harm the family’s fortune, which made him, as the future heir, dislike Song Cun too. Maybe it was because his little brother was always more outstanding than him, which made him lose face. Or maybe it was just his innate depravity, finding amusement in teasing and bullying his brother.
“But I have you to thank. Because of you, I can live so carefree and comfortably,” Song Huai said, blowing out a smoke ring. “The company was about to go bankrupt, but I never expected you would differentiate into an omega and get a rich guy like Qi Yan, that sickly weakling, to take a liking to you.”
No matter how nasty Song Huai’s words were, Song Cun’s face remained unflappable, until Song Huai said, “that sickly weakling Qi Yan.”
Song Cun’s eyelid twitched, and his previously loose hand clenched into a tight fist…
