- Chapter 12 - If I Were My Sister's Girlfriend, I Would Be So Happy
“Boom—” The lightning outside the corridor illuminated Qi Ning’an’s face, revealing an unnatural flush as she slowly slid down the door to sit on the floor, her fingers trembling.
Fragmented memories flashed through her mind—when Shen Yuanyi had discovered she was keeping other alphas besides her, she had wept uncontrollably. “I… I thought we were already in a relationship. I’m sorry, I misunderstood.”
Realizing the dog she’d raised had actually fallen for its owner, her first reaction had been panic and fear. She wanted to reestablish their sugar daddy relationship, just like before.
“From the beginning till now, it’s always been about money. How many alphas I keep has nothing to do with you.”
When Shen Yuanyi found out she had recorded their intimate moments, tears streamed down her face in large drops. Qi Ning’an had snapped irritably, “This is just who I am. Now you see it.”
But in truth, she regretted it. If she hadn’t had that voyeuristic habit, maybe their relationship wouldn’t have shattered again.
When Shen Yuanyi found the missing clothes and confronted her, Qi Ning’an couldn’t bear the look of being treated like a monster. She kicked her little dog out on the spot. “Get out. We’re done.”
Being with someone as twisted as her must have disgusted Shen Yuanyi so much she couldn’t even eat.
Several days passed without seeing each other. Usually, after a fight, the little dog would be crouched outside the door the next morning, and they’d pretend nothing had happened, continuing their routine like an ordinary couple—making breakfast together in the kitchen, asking about each other’s schedules.
Qi Ning’an needed to correct herself—it was sugar daddy daily life, not an ordinary couple’s.
Because she was too twisted, she had driven her little dog away in sorrow. She wouldn’t let it happen again.
Clenching her fingers, she swore to keep her secrets hidden.
The next morning, Shen Yuanyi woke up, her body still weak, her throat sore and accompanied by a cough. She called her agent and the director to ask for leave, promising she’d recover soon and wouldn’t be late—she’d definitely perform well.
She was terrified of ruining the good impression she’d worked so hard to build.
A knock came at the door. Without thinking, she assumed it was Qi Ning’an—or at least the Qi family’s butler. But when she opened it, she was met with the timid, pitiable female lead she’d met the day before.
The girl lowered her head, fingers twisting nervously, her eyes darting around cautiously as she whispered, “Run. Get away from Qi Ning’an. The farther, the better.”
Huh… What did that mean?
Shen Yuanyi scratched the back of her head, staring in confusion at the female lead, who was half a head shorter than her.
Footsteps echoed in the corridor, ascending to the second floor. Before Shen Yuanyi could react, the girl turned and bolted. “What’s with people this early in the morning?” she muttered.
Qi Ning’an appeared, carrying a tray of exquisite breakfast along with a toothbrush, cup, and toiletries. She glanced at the fleeing figure and asked, “Puppy, did someone just say something to you?”
Seeing it was Qi Ning’an, Shen Yuanyi’s eyes brightened, and she quickly shook her head. “Nothing.”
Noticing the items in Qi Ning’an’s hands, she stepped forward to help. “I feel bad always troubling you like this,” she said.
“It’s nothing. Go inside. I’ll brush your teeth for you, then you’ll eat breakfast.” Qi Ning’an dodged Shen Yuanyi’s attempt to assist, her tone leaving no room for argument.
“Brush my teeth… Sure.” Shen Yuanyi chuckled, not taking it seriously. She assumed Qi Ning’an just meant bringing the toiletries in for her to use herself.
Sitting upright on the bed with her thighs pressing nervously against her hands, Shen Yuanyi watched Qi Ning’an bustling about.
She approached with a glass of water in one hand and a toothbrush with toothpaste already squeezed on it in the other.
Shen Yuanyi blinked in slight surprise but maintained a relaxed demeanor, swinging her legs casually.
Only when she heard the command, “Open your mouth,” did she realize Qi Ning’an had truly meant to brush her teeth for her.
“Ahhh, umm—”
Her chin was lifted by a slender hand, forcing her to gaze up at Qi Ning’an with misty eyes, her cheeks flushed, looking utterly pitiful as if she’d been wronged.
The culprit merely smiled faintly and whispered by her ear, “If you don’t brush properly, you’ll get cavities.”
Shen Yuanyi wanted to say she could do it herself…
But it was too late.
A thumb gently pried open her lips, pressing against her molars as the knuckle nudged her upper teeth. Then the minty toothpaste entered her mouth, applied with a tenderness and thoroughness far beyond her usual rushed routine.
The villainess was surprisingly good at taking care of people. If she had a partner, they’d surely be spoiled rotten.
“Rinse and spit.”
Following the instruction, Shen Yuanyi obediently swished the water in her mouth before spitting it into the small basin.
“Good girl.”
Her canine was lightly stroked by a thumb, and her cheek received a soft pat.
Head bowed, she felt like steam was practically rising from her scalp.
Next came washing her face and changing her clothes—all meticulously handled by Qi Ning’an herself.
When it was finally time for the much-anticipated breakfast, Shen Yuanyi didn’t need any help devouring her eggs and bacon.
“So good!” As long as it wasn’t boiled chicken br3ast, anything tasted delicious!
Qi Ning’an, tidying up nearby, cast a doting glance at the girl happily eating on the bed and let out a soft chuckle.
“I have an event this afternoon. Rest well, and if you want to go home, just ask the butler to arrange a driver for you.”
Shen Yuanyi looked up mid-bite and nodded with a muffled “Mhm, mhm.”
The moment Qi Ning’an stepped out with the tray, her smile vanished. She turned sharply and strode to the room at the end of the second-floor hallway, knocking with an icy expression.
The door remained shut, but a faint voice came from within. “What is it?”
Qi Ning’an set the tray down gracefully, unhurriedly retrieving a key from her pocket. She slid it into the lock with deliberate precision, the clicking sound echoing ominously.
Her silence was the most terrifying—enough to make one’s scalp prickle with unease.
“I—I really didn’t tell her anything!” The woman’s voice trembled with tears as she desperately braced against the door.
Qi Ning’an withdrew the key and uttered coldly, “You’d better not have.”
She instructed the butler to keep a close watch on the woman, demanding immediate reports of any movements—especially those involving Shen Yuanyi. Fortunately, the woman seemed to know her place, as no alerts came throughout the day.
Returning home that evening, Qi Ning’an found a palm-sized cake on the table, beneath which lay a neatly written note:
Qi Ning’an, thank you for taking care of me. I’ve gone home. Bye.
Exhaustion melting away, Qi Ning’an fetched a bottle of red wine from the cabinet, her lips curving as she traced each character on the note with her gaze.
The butler knew his mistress disliked cream cakes, yet seeing her smile now left him utterly perplexed about her thoughts.
“You all can go back now, it’s getting late,” Qi Ning’an said in a good mood.
The butler hesitated but still asked, “Miss, should we dispose of this cake?”
“No need, I love eating it.”
Love eating it… Yet in the butler’s memory, he had never seen the young mistress eat a cream cake before.
The villa fell quiet as Qi Ning’an savored the delicious little cake while keeping an eye on Shen Yuanyi’s movements through her phone.
It was as if she wasn’t watching surveillance footage but an engrossing TV drama.
A woman, driven by hunger to venture downstairs for food, accidentally caught sight of this scene and gasped in shock.
The thought of someone installing cameras in her own home, with every move being watched, was utterly terrifying.
Hearing the noise behind her, Qi Ning’an flipped her phone face down and shot the woman a warning glance.
“I saw nothing,” the woman raised her hands, dashed to the kitchen, grabbed something from the fridge, and bolted back upstairs to her room.
Despite being the same age—thirty—she always felt like a child whose thoughts were laid bare whenever facing Qi Ning’an.
Around ten o’clock, a knock came at the door, followed by Qi Ning’an’s demonic voice, “Stay behind me tomorrow. You’re not going anywhere.”
Seriously, after witnessing the horror of this jinx, who would dare provoke her?
“I won’t go anywhere, and I definitely won’t seek out that little alpha to gossip. Just let me be.”
Qi Ning’an remained silent, her presence as suffocating as a coiled serpent.
“I—I understand. I really won’t say anything to her.”
Footsteps echoed outside, growing fainter until they disappeared. The woman slumped against the door, exhaling heavily in relief.
Silently, she prayed for that little alpha in her heart—running into a freak like Qi Ning’an was the worst luck imaginable. The image of the surveillance still haunted her.
Paranoia crept in as she wondered if Qi Ning’an had also planted cameras in her room. She jumped up in fright, searched everywhere, but found nothing.
No point in inviting trouble—she had already warned that alpha.
——
Lying in bed, Shen Yuanyi couldn’t sleep. She stared at the ceiling, wondering if Qi Ning’an had eaten the cake.
Did she like it? If she didn’t and threw it away, Shen Yuanyi would feel a little hurt. But if she didn’t like it, would she force herself to eat it anyway?
Rolling onto her side, her mind wandered—what did Qi Ning’an actually like? What gift should she give her next?
Absentmindedly, she picked up her phone from the pillow and opened Qi Ning’an’s WeChat. She typed, “Are you asleep?” only to delete it immediately.
“It’s probably too late—Qi Ning’an must be asleep by now,” she muttered, sitting up and switching on the bedside lamp. She hesitated at the edge of the bed, debating whether to send a message to test the waters. But what to say?
“Qi Ning’an, are you asleep? Are you asleep?” Shen Yuanyi hugged her phone, twisting and rolling on the bed.
The unsent message lingered in her drafts.
Meanwhile, back in her room, Qi Ning’an watched Shen Yuanyi rolling around and murmuring her name. Amused, she pressed her lips together and sent a message first:
Puppy, are you asleep? The cake you gave me was delicious.
The moment Shen Yuanyi received the message, she froze mid-roll. She scooted closer to her phone, reading Qi Ning’an’s words over and over, her smile stretching ear to ear.
“Really? Do you like it?”
“I love anything you give me.”
The instantly smug little wolf let out a “hehehe” laugh, flopping onto the bed while swinging his legs back and forth. His grin never faded as he typed: “Sis, you’re so smooth—giving me all the emotional validation. If I were your girlfriend, I’d be over the moon.”
Realizing what he’d just said, Shen Yuanyi hurried to clarify: “That’s not what I meant! I just think you’re too kind. Whoever becomes your girlfriend in the future will be so lucky.”
