- Chapter 5 - Doubting That the Villain Drugged Her
Shen Yuanyi gazed at Qi Ning’an with puppy-like eyes, her pupils unfocused like a delicate porcelain doll.
“Puppy, shall we do it in the car?”
The voice was so familiar, but who was this person?
Her body burned with heat. Shaking her head, she decided it didn’t matter who it was. Closing her eyes, her soft pink lips pressed forward in a kiss.
The creamy scent of pheromones gently enveloped the nearest omega, her kisses falling like raindrops—lips, nose, neck…
“You’re quite the player,” Qi Ning’an said, tilting her swan-like neck as she gasped for breath.
Was that praise or mockery? Shen Yuanyi’s mind felt like a blank sheet of paper erased by a rubber, empty except for the haze of desire.
“So hot… give me… water… please…”
Shen Yuanyi tugged at Qi Ning’an’s collar, panting heavily.
“There’s no water here,” Qi Ning’an replied, stroking Shen Yuanyi’s head with a calm smile. “But getting some isn’t impossible.”
The puppy’s eyes reddened at the corners, misty with tears as she whimpered weakly, “Sister…”
Â
Whoosh—
Qi Ning’an’s heart clenched. A tingling current surged through her body, electrifying her nerves with pleasure.
Who could bear to see a pitiful puppy cry?
Gritting her teeth, Qi Ning’an hardened her resolve and held up three fingers. “Puppy, complete three tasks for me, and I’ll give you water.”
Shen Yuanyi kissed Qi Ning’an’s lips again, then buried her face against her sister’s neck, nuzzling and whining like a spoiled child.
“Being stubborn won’t work. The tasks are simple.”
“Sister… I’m so hot… need water…” Shen Yuanyi sobbed, smearing tears onto the soft skin of her kind sister’s neck.
Subconsciously, she knew that crying and calling her “sister” would make her relent. If she kept pleading, her sister would surely give in.
Her blank mind couldn’t process anything complex—only this desperate, repetitive plea.
Being sober had its own fun, and being drugged had its own twisted appeal. But right now, Qi Ning’an wasn’t particularly interested in playing with a dazed Shen Yuanyi. What worried her was whether the drug had side effects—whether it would harm her.
Swallowing hard, Qi Ning’an pulled out her phone and snapped a photo of Shen Yuanyi’s flushed face, one hand cupping her cheek as she panted, “Ah… ha…”
Puppy, puppy, puppy… I miss you so, so much…
Tucking her phone away, she kissed Shen Yuanyi’s cheek and hugged her, gently patting her back. “You’re impossible, puppy.”
Then she pushed Shen Yuanyi away and opened the car door, her expression shifting from delight to indifference in an instant. Her gaze lifted toward the figure standing by the second-floor window.
The white-coated doctor grumbled, “You’re not expecting me to help you carry her, are you?”
Qi Ning’an simply stared, a faint smile on her lips.
“I’m a doctor, not your family’s butler.”
Her smile grew eerier—serene yet unsettling in a way that defied description.
The person by the window rubbed their arms, shuddering as goosebumps rose.
With a strained smile, they flashed an OK sign and dashed downstairs without another word.
Childhood friends who grew up together, Bai Lin was perhaps the person who knew Qi Ning’an best. Outwardly, she gave off a detached, almost Buddhist vibe that suggested life and death were the same to her, but beneath that shell lurked a fanatical beast.
Spotting the dazed little alpha in the car who had clearly been drugged, Bai Lin raised an eyebrow. “Qi Ning’an, wasn’t it supposed to be you getting drugged by her? How did it end up the other way around?”
Holding the little pup’s hand, Qi Ning’an helped her out of the car and glanced up at the speaker.
Bai Lin immediately mimed zipping her lips.
Qi Ning’an’s villa had a dedicated guest room. Shen Yuanyi was placed on the bed, her scent glands at the nape of her neck continuously releasing alpha pheromones. Even in her delirious state, her pheromones remained restrained, never aggressive enough to harm anyone.
The priority was administering suppressants. Though Bai Lin was usually talkative, she didn’t utter a single word while treating her patient, lips pressed together in focused silence.
A prolonged rut could destroy an alpha’s scent glands. Fortunately, Dr. Bai had come prepared with medication specifically for drug-induced cases.
Half an hour later, Bai Lin emerged from the room, exhausted, and saw Qi Ning’an still standing by the door. “Don’t let her use her pheromones for the next month,” she instructed.
Qi Ning’an: “Stay for tea.”
Bai Lin shook her head vehemently. “No, no—I just remembered I have something to do. I’ll head out now.”
“Then I won’t see you off.”
Though she was smiling, the chill in her voice was palpable.
Once Bai Lin was gone, Qi Ning’an immediately placed an overnight order for pinhole cameras, opting for express delivery.
She went downstairs, unhurriedly selected a record, and played some soothing classical music. From the cabinet, she retrieved a bottle of aged red wine, poured herself a glass, and finally settled gracefully onto the leather sofa.
Legs crossed, she sipped the wine slowly, her eyes fixed unblinkingly on her phone. To an outsider, it might have looked like she was browsing financial news or a fashion magazine.
In reality, she was scrolling through photos of the little pup she had taken in the car earlier.
Another half hour passed. Qi Ning’an turned off her phone screen just as she finished the last sip of wine. At the villa’s entrance, the delivery rack held the thirty pinhole cameras she had ordered online.
Carrying the bag, she allowed herself a faint smile.
Shen Yuanyi didn’t wake until the next day, completely unaware of what had happened the night before. All she knew was that she needed to get a medical checkup. The unfamiliar room startled her the moment she opened her eyes.
Sitting up, she found her phone flooded with debt collection messages—some from legitimate sources, others less so. The bank was demanding 150,000, while the loan sharks had already inflated the figure to nearly a million.
Another mess left behind by the original owner of this body. Shen Yuanyi nearly fainted at the staggering numbers.
She wished she could drag the original owner back—someone who had done nothing good but plenty of harm.
Still unsure of where she was, she turned off her phone and took in the spacious room. A knock came at the door, followed by an emotionless female voice. “Miss Shen, breakfast has been prepared for you.”
Miss?
That couldn’t be right. If the original owner had been some wealthy heiress, how could she have owed so much money? Shen Yuanyi opened the door, her confusion evident to the stern-faced housekeeper.
“Miss Qi has gone out,” the housekeeper explained. “She asked that you rest well.”
Qi Ning’an!!!
Shen Yuanyi nodded with a smile on her face, though inwardly she was grumbling about how unexpectedly kind the villain was to have taken her in for the night.
After freshening up and heading downstairs for breakfast, her phone rang. Seeing it was her manager calling, Shen Yuanyi braced herself for a scolding. Sure enough, the moment she answered, the tirade began. “Shen Yuanyi, do you even want to stay in this industry? A supporting actress like you putting on more airs than the lead? The director asked you nicely to reshoot the scene, and you just walked off set! After finally landing a supporting role, you’re still such a disappointment—utterly hopeless!”
Shen Yuanyi held the phone away from her ear, closing one eye as she waited for the rant to finish before meekly asking, “Can I come now?”
“What? What did you say?” The manager, exhausted from yelling, almost thought she’d misheard the timid response.
An unmotivated artist like Shen Yuanyi would normally have been dropped by the company long ago. But for some reason, resources kept pouring in for her, as if she had powerful backers. With a little effort, she could have been a top-tier star by now.
“I’ll come right away,” Shen Yuanyi replied softly.
“You…” The manager was at a loss for words.
Normally, Shen Yuanyi would either demand the lead role or hang up without a word, disappearing for days afterward.
“Fine, come over. Be careful on the way.”
Hanging up, the manager questioned her life choices. Since when had her artist become so compliant?
Shen Yuanyi couldn’t believe the original owner of this body had thrown away such incredible opportunities. Thinking back to her own five years in a girl group—barely scraping by with just over 100,000 fans, appearing for mere seconds in music videos (never in the center), and attracting pitifully few fans at handshake events—she felt a pang of bitterness.
A quick search revealed the original owner’s terrible reputation: countless haters accusing her of being arrogant, untalented, and even illiterate. In one interview, when asked about her character, the original owner had blankly replied, “She’s pretty”—despite playing a legendary heroine. The backlash from fans that night had been fierce, demanding her replacement. Her portrayal had been so off the mark, it practically ruined the source material.
Singing and dancing? Shen Yuanyi could handle that. But acting? She suspected she might be just as bad as the original owner.
Nervously fidgeting in the car on the way to the set, she was greeted by the director, her manager, and three assistants—all there just for her. Gazing at the sky, Shen Yuanyi sighed. Original owner, with conditions like these, what more could you possibly want? Why resort to drugging the villain and taking out loans?
The director spoke to her as if coaxing a child. “Teacher Shen, today’s scene is very simple. We’ve prepared ten stunt doubles—all you have to do is stand there.”
Manager: “Have you eaten breakfast? I’ll have someone fetch something for you.”
Three assistants: “Teacher Shen, you must be hot from the trip. Let us fan you.”
Wow. The injustice of it all. Having a sugar daddy sure was nice. Living off privilege was truly the life.
Those five years… Shen Yuanyi had no idea how she’d survived them.
“I’ll act well!” Shen Yuanyi wiped her tears.
The director, agent, and assistants were terrified by the situation—some rushed to grab tissues while others tried to comfort her. It was practically imperial-level treatment, with nearly everyone around revolving around her.
By 1 PM, Shen Yuanyi had finished filming her scenes for the day ahead of schedule. The director and agent told her to go enjoy herself, so she decided to visit the hospital for a checkup. She suspected the original owner of this body must have had some illness—otherwise, how could she have suddenly collapsed and fallen unconscious? If not for encountering the kind-hearted villain, she might still be lying unconscious in some forgotten corner.
Qi Ning’an received a call from his assistant in the morning, informing him that Shen Yuanyi wanted to come to the set to act. Thinking he could pick up the little dog after the event, he arrived at the set by 3 PM, only to be told by the crew that Shen Yuanyi had left long ago.
Holding the hospital test results, Shen Yuanyi stood frozen at the hospital entrance. It wasn’t an illness—the original owner had been drugged.
But who had done it?
Two sharp honks sounded as a Maybach pulled up by the curb. The window rolled down, revealing a flawlessly sculpted profile. The woman inside glanced over and said, “Get in.”
A sudden thought flashed through Shen Yuanyi’s mind—could the person who drugged her be the big villain?
