When I Cleared the Death Game World, I Reincarnated as a Villainous Noble Even if They Talk About Doom Flags, I'm Actually Immortal. - Chapter 21
Lior successfully completed his adventurer registration.
However, as he made his way toward the bulletin board to check for requests, his path was suddenly blocked by a bald-headed man.
“Um, I’d like to take a look at the requests…”
“Hah!?”
The bald man’s sharp eyes glinted menacingly.
At the same time, his already massive muscles tensed, swelling even more.
With the enormous hammer strapped to his back, he exuded an overwhelming presence.
Lior couldn’t help but admire such muscular strength. After all, having muscles meant being stronger.
Curious, he pinched his own upper arm. It was soft and squishy.
He wasn’t completely lacking muscle, but he was nowhere near as built as the bald man.
“If you’re just playing pretend adventurer, go do it somewhere else.”
“No, I’m properly registered… Look, I even have my adventurer’s plate.”
“A brat like you? No way you can be an adventurer. You’d just end up getting killed by a monster. Stop talking nonsense and go home. Help your mother with chores or something.”
“Uh…”
It was clear that the bald man wasn’t going to move aside just because Lior asked him to.
Feeling stuck, Lior glanced toward the reception desk.
However, the receptionist deliberately averted her gaze.
The woman working behind the counter also showed no intention of intervening.
In fact, they might have expected this to happen when they approved his registration.
“Alright, if you get it now, then scram.”
“Wahh!?”
The bald man grabbed Lior by the scruff of his neck and lifted him off the ground.
He dangled helplessly, just like a kitten being carried by its mother.
His feet swung in the air as he was effortlessly hoisted up.
“Geez. I get that you admire adventurers, but a kid like you has no business trying to be one. Come back when you’ve grown up a bit more.”
“B-But I can fight properly…!”
“Oh, I see. You got into a fight with your friends and now you think you’re strong, huh?”
“That’s not it…”
Still swinging in the air, Lior was carried toward the guild’s entrance.
At this rate, he was going to be thrown out.
How could he convince the man to let him stay?
Just as he was trying to come up with a plan, the man suddenly stopped.
“Hey now, how about you put the kid down?”
“…Ren?”
A figure lightly stepped between them.
It was a girl with long pink hair. She looked to be about seven years older than Lior—probably high school age if they were in Japan.
Her armor and the sword at her waist appeared to be of high quality.
That meant she was either from a wealthy family or a high-ranking adventurer capable of affording such equipment herself.
Judging by the way the bald man reacted, it was likely the latter.
“W-Well, yeah… but a kid like this can’t seriously be an adventurer—”
“I started adventuring when I was twelve, you know? Just because someone’s young doesn’t mean they can’t fight.”
“That’s only because you have talent, Ren…”
“Well, as someone with overwhelming talent and beauty, my intuition tells me that this kid is way stronger than he looks. Maybe even stronger than you.”
“What!?”
The bald man looked back and forth between the girl and Lior, clearly skeptical.
“Besides, don’t you have work to do? If you don’t leave soon, you won’t be back until nightfall. So be a good boy and let the kid go, alright?”
“F-Fine…”
Reluctantly, the bald man set Lior down.
He adjusted the axe on his back with a loud clang and headed for the exit.
“Hey, at least start with something safe, like gathering herbs!”
Leaving those parting words, he walked out of the guild.
Now, only Lior and the girl remained.
She bent down slightly to meet Lior’s gaze.
As she leaned forward, her large chest followed gravity’s pull, nearly filling his entire field of vision.
Lior quickly averted his eyes.
For a boy his age, it was simply too much to handle.
“My name is Ren Fairy. Can you tell me yours?”
“Uh… It’s Lior.”
“Lior-kun, huh? Cute name!”
“A-Ah…”
The moment he introduced himself, Ren reached out and patted his head.
It didn’t feel bad, but it was still embarrassing.
He’d never met a girl who got this close so casually before.
He had no idea how to react.
All he could do was blush and fluster awkwardly—his weakness in social interactions laid bare.
“Alright then! A piece of advice from your big sister, an A-rank adventurer, to rookie adventurer Lior-kun!”
“Wait… A-rank?”
“Ehehe, amazing, right?”
Ren struck a proud “Ta-da!” pose, flashing a V-sign with her fingers.
Then, as if mimicking a crab, she used those two fingers to pinch Lior’s cheeks.
A-rank was effectively the highest rank most adventurers could aspire to.
Nearly every adventurer trained rigorously in hopes of reaching that level.
S-rank, on the other hand, was in a league of its own—so far beyond the norm that it wasn’t even something people aimed for.
That said, given how young Ren was and the fact that she had already reached A-rank, it wasn’t entirely impossible for her to make it to S-rank one day.
“Now then, as an A-rank adventurer, I can say with confidence that you’re pretty strong. What do you think?”
“Ah, well… I think I can at least hold my own.”
“Ooh, humble too! But no matter how strong or weak you are, accidents are an inevitable part of adventuring.”
“Accidents…?”
“For example, ‘Oops, I wandered into a monster’s nest without realizing it!’ or ‘Whoops, I accidentally got poisoned by a monster!’ Stuff like that. And there’s one surefire way to prepare for such accidents.”
“What is it?”
“Find companions! Having more people in your party makes it easier to deal with unexpected situations. You should start looking for teammates as soon as possible, Lior-kun.”
“O-Okay, I understand.”
As Lior nodded, Ren gave him a warm smile and straightened her posture.
“Well then, do your best on your adventures, Lior-kun!”
“Yes! Thank you very much!”
Lior bowed his head in gratitude, and Ren waved cheerfully before walking off.
