When I Was Reincarnated, All the Heroines Were Stolen by the Fake Hero ~ The Guy Who Dominated With Original Story Knowledge, and Me Who Dominated With Talent. It Seems the World After the Ending Is My One-Man Stage ~ - Episode 58
Episode 58
Since returning from the royal capital, I had been spending most of my time shut away in my study.
Peace had come to the Vixel Domain, and to the town of Kanaloa. Many people had moved in. And as a result, my desk work had increased explosively.
Negotiations with the commerce guild, development plans for new residential areas, and the accompanying budget management.
Some of the tasks I left to Sebas. But all the matters that required the final decision from the lord — me — continued to pile up on my desk.
Working at my desk late into the night had become the norm.
Once I signed the last document, I set my pen down and let out a long breath.
I rolled my stiff shoulders and looked up at the ceiling.
“…Guess that’s enough for today.”
Pushing myself any further would only lower my efficiency.
It was probably time to take a shower, clear my head, and go to bed.
With that decision made, I slowly stood up from my chair and reached for the study door.
—
When I stepped into the dim hallway, I saw someone walking toward me.
It was Sebas.
“Yutaka-sama. Working until this late hour, I see. Still sorting documents today?”
He stopped walking and gave a polite nod with his usual calm expression.
“Yeah. Thanks to that, my neck and shoulders are completely stiff.”
I gave a wry smile and tapped my shoulder.
“Please don’t push yourself too hard. If you were to collapse, this territory wouldn’t function.”
Concern for my health was clear on his face.
“That goes both ways, doesn’t it? Sorry for always pushing work onto you, Sebas.”
When I said that, he widened his eyes just a little. He then let out a small smile.
“What are your plans for tomorrow?”
He asked. I then thought for a moment.
“I’ve cleared all the urgent documents. So I was thinking of going to check on the town of Kanaloa. I haven’t seen it directly in a while.”
“Understood. Please leave the matters of the estate to this Sebas.”
Nodding at my reliable butler’s words, I replied,
“I’m counting on you. Well then, good night, Sebas.”
“Yes. You too, Yutaka-sama. Have a good night.”
Parting with Sebas, I headed for the bathroom.
A shower would wash away both the day’s fatigue and the haze in my head.
Once I slipped into bed with a refreshed body, a pleasant sense of tiredness overtook me. And my consciousness soon sank into darkness.
* * *
The next day.
I visited the town of Kanaloa by myself.
Walking beside me was Freyja.
“It’s lively again today.”
At my murmur, Freyja nodded happily.
“It’s always like this lately. Thinking back to the old days, it’s hard to believe this scene is real.”
Just as she said, the streets were packed with people of all kinds of races.
Dwarves, beastkin, and of course, humans.
Boisterous voices of merchants who had likely come from afar echoed through the air. It filled the town with a vibrant energy.
This scene itself was the best proof that the Vixel Domain had regained peace.
“How are things in Vegetoria and Fronti?”
“In Vegetoria, we’ve assigned some thunder beastkin as guards. As for Fronti, we’ll inspect it in detail once the kingdom’s regular soldiers arrive. There are many defense mechanisms we don’t understand…”
Freyja gave a precise report.
Then, as if remembering something, she added, “Ah, right.”
“By the way, it seems the crops we planted in Vegetoria as a test have grown enough to harvest.”
“Crops in Vegetoria?”
That surprised me.
“Yes. There were repeated electric shocks from the thunder beastkin when we reclaimed the land. And apparently, the charcoal left after burning the monsters ended up improving the soil.”
“…Is something like that even possible?”
It was hard to believe. But facts were facts.
“That’s great news. I’ll let Sebas and Kotama know. They’ll be thrilled.”
“Please do… I’m sorry, but I’ll take my leave here. Since the kingdom’s soldiers haven’t arrived, we have to do the patrolling ourselves.”
“No, I’m the one who should apologize for taking up your time. Let’s talk again when things calm down.”
Freyja nodded. And with a dignified stride, she disappeared into the crowd.
Now alone, I began walking again. I was slowly observing the town.
Shops selling weapons and armor with both practicality and decoration. They were likely made by dwarves.
Beastkin selling monster materials from their hunts and accessories made from them in open stalls.
It was easy to see that everyone was using their strengths to do business and take root in this town.
And then, I noticed one spot that had gathered an unusually large crowd.
Some kind of show, perhaps?
Curious, I called out a few “Excuse me”s as I made my way through the people to the center.
At the center of the crowd was the front of a store run by a dwarf.
And in front of that store, a young girl was sitting on the ground with her legs folded under her.
She wore light gear focused on mobility. She had so much skin exposed she could easily be mistaken for a beastkin.
Her long golden hair shimmered in the sunlight. It was tied up in a high ponytail.
There was no mistaking her.
She had traveled with me, shared both hardships and joys — my former party member, Sonia.
