When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 17
Episode 17
“Oh… as expected of the Al-Faz’s unit. Charging in like that against such numbers,” remarked Jez, watching from a distance as Jamil led the Al-Faz’s unit of 70 riders into the enemy camp, trampling over it.
“Hey, Jez, you shouldn’t say that,” retorted Teo Marchant, the fourth seat of the Al-Faz’s unit, in response to Jez’s admiration. Teo was appointed by Jamil as the commander of the ten riders assigned to support Jez’s call.
Teo, reflecting Jamil’s character, was relatively serious among the members of the Al-Faz’s unit, who tended to be more laid-back. He had a close friendship with Jez since before this expedition.
During the morning training at the 7th Legion base, Jez and Teo often played pranks on the staff officer, Rail, by pretending to be serious and then getting scolded later when Rail realized their mischief.
Jez and Teo, along with the other ten riders, watched eagerly for the right moment as Jamil and the main force of the Al-Faz’s unit displayed their prowess from afar.
When Jamil finally used a powerful technique to defeat an Orc General, causing a commotion in the entire monster army and disrupting their formation, Jez couldn’t contain his excitement any longer.
“I see it! Let’s go, I’ll cover you!” Jez exclaimed.
“Alright! Leave it to me!” Teo responded enthusiastically.
Following Jez’s lead, they dashed out, followed by the ten riders of the Alfaz auxiliary squad, towards the tunnel entrance.
The monster army, thrown into disarray by Jamil’s attack, was slow to notice Jez’s group of eleven riders. By the time they did, Jez and the others had already approached the outskirts of the camp.
“Out of my way!” Jez shouted as they burst in. Despite the chaos, the enemy vastly outnumbered them. However, Teo, while advancing into the heart of the enemy, skillfully provided cover fire from horseback, picking off only the monsters in their path with precise shots.
This was Teo Marchant’s specialty, demonstrating unparalleled skill in precision archery among the members of the Al-Faz’s unit.
As they continued to charge through the midst of the enemy, Teo’s accurate shots kept clearing their path while the other members of the squad continued to eliminate monsters around the route.
As they neared the tunnel, the pressure from the enemy intensified. Seeing the situation, Teo decided to act.
“Wind, heed my plea. Create countless arrows and guide them accurately towards the target. Manipulate the wind and become a myriad of spears piercing through the enemy! Sixth Tier Magic, Wind Spirit Arrow Swarm!”
As Teo began his incantation while holding his bow, numerous magical arrows appeared around the regular arrow. When released, these magical arrows pierced through the monsters along the path as if being drawn towards them, despite the dwindling effectiveness of precise shooting in the current situation.
This magic, Wind Spirit Arrow Swarm, while less powerful in terms of sheer firepower compared to Jamil’s Wind Spirit Guided Arrow used to defeat the Orc General, excelled in area suppression.
Moreover, it wasn’t a simple magic that could be used with just magical power; it required multitasking and high skill. Thus, using this magic in combat, especially while riding, was considered a remarkable feat.
Jez, who usually joked around with Teo, was amazed to witness such a feat up close while speeding through the open path. Despite his surprise, he increased his speed even further.
The Al-Faz’s unit, including Teo, continued to push forward, unleashing strategic magic arrows to push through the enemy and clear a path.
Finally, Jez exclaimed, “I see it! Let’s finish this in one go!”
As Jez began to concentrate magical energy in both hands, Teo, feeling a hint of unease, muttered, “Seriously?”
And with that, they approached the tunnel entrance. Its size easily exceeded that of a human, large enough for Orc Generals and even the distant Orc King to pass through.
Moreover, upon closer inspection, the size of the hill where the tunnel was dug was quite significant, resembling a small mountain.
“Are we really okay with this?” Teo couldn’t help but feel a bit anxious.
“Don’t worry,” Jez reassured him with a grin.
With a light shout, Jez leaped off his horse and rapidly approached the tunnel entrance. Teo and the others provided cover fire, dealing with the monsters trying to approach Jez, until finally Jez reached the tunnel entrance.
With a swift step, Jez exhaled lightly and, as if plunging his entire upper body forward, struck the structure of the tunnel entrance with his right fist raised high and his left fist positioned mid-level.
Mountain Breaker.
With a resounding explosion accompanied by the bursting of magical energy, a deafening roar echoed throughout the surroundings, and with a massive cloud of dust, the entire entrance of the tunnel collapsed along with the mountain.
