As soon as the city gates opened, Oscar leaped out from the front of the army before the drawbridge over the moat fully descended, wielding a halberd taller than himself, cutting into the heart of the enemy ranks.

Witnessing the charge of their regimental commander, the morale of the 1,500 soldiers of the 2nd Regiment surged even higher, eager not to be left behind and followed closely behind Oscar.

Archers and magic users on the city walls provided covering fire, raining arrows and magic down upon the enemy’s direction of advance and surrounding foes. Heavy infantry units were deployed around the open gates to construct makeshift fortifications and prevent enemy incursions into the fortress city.

Meanwhile, the 500-strong cavalry unit, including Oscar, tore through the enemy ranks with support fire from the city walls and reinforcements from the heavy infantry units.

The distinguishing feature of the 2nd Regiment led by Oscar was their “heavy armor.” While Oscar himself wreaked havoc in the enemy ranks with his massive halberd, those around him in the Oscar Vanguard Unit cleared a path while wielding lances and broadswords from horseback.

But what truly characterized their heavy armor was the Chariot Unit led by Vice Captain Sofia Burnett. Consisting of war chariots drawn by two horses each, they charged into the enemy ranks, widening the cracks created by Oscar’s wedge-like assault. The Heavy Armored Tank Unit led by Sofia, who had followed Oscar’s lead, was instrumental in this regard.

The 500-strong Heavy Cavalry Unit led by Oscar and the Chariot Unit led by Sofia, like a tempest unleashed to vent their pent-up frustrations, roamed the battlefield.

Though the demon army attempted to counterattack, their initial movements were delayed due to the large army deployed around the entire fortress city, putting them at a disadvantage in short-term localized battles. Oscar and his troops maneuvered skillfully, avoiding the constructed fortifications and moats while drawing the enemy’s attention.

In this situation, seeing their allied forces being overrun in localized battles, elite squads of Orc Generals and Orc Warriors launched assaults towards Oscar. However, as they aimed for Oscar’s massive figure, multiple magical attacks were unleashed from the Chariot Unit led by Sofia, halting their advance.

Despite enduring repeated heavy attacks and explosions, the Orc Generals and Orc Warriors were wounded. Seizing the opportunity, Oscar’s troops reorganized and launched a swift counterattack.

As Oscar faced off against the Orc General, exchanging blows several times, the clash of halberd and greatsword resounded throughout the battlefield, sparks flying. With neither side gaining the upper hand,

“Sofia, buy me some time!”

Stepping back from the Orc General, Oscar called for support from Sofia. As Sofia engaged the Orc General, riding the chariot skillfully and using her lance to restrain the Orc General, Clara Bennett, riding on the same chariot as Sofia, unleashed magical attacks from close range.

While they bought time, Oscar completed the incantation for a body enhancement spell:

“Unyielding power, dwell within my body. Open the gate to a new source of strength, bestow upon me a body as strong as steel. Enduring power, be with me. Fifth Tier Body Enhancement Magic, Steel Bonds!”

As he finished chanting the body enhancement spell, Oscar’s body was enveloped in a magical aura. Seeing this, Sofia and Clara swiftly maneuvered the chariot to evacuate.

“Take this!”

With a roar unlike his usual calm demeanor, Oscar charged at the Orc General, and after exchanging blows several times, finally severed its head.

Having observed the battlefield for a while, Jamil gave the signal for the entire Al-Faz’s unit to charge. After collapsing the tunnel yesterday and withdrawing from the battlefield, they camped outside the enemy’s sphere of influence. While the forces surrounding Graysian consisted of tens of thousands of demon soldiers, it was conceivable that temporarily breaking through a part of the encirclement could be achieved with a focused breakthrough. This was unfolding just as Jamil and Jez had anticipated.

However, it was a risky operation where mistiming could result in significant casualties for their allies. Admiring the 8th Legion for defending the frontline, Jamil and the others finally put their plan into action.

“Al-Faz’s unit, break through the enemy lines and rendezvous with the 8th Legion cavalry at once. This time, ignore all enemies and prioritize the rendezvous above all else. After the rendezvous, we will likely retreat into Graysian Castle. Everyone, stay sharp.”

Confirming the expressions of the 70 members of the Al-Faz’s unit plus one, Jamil nodded once.

“Alright, let’s go then. Full assault!!”

And with that, they dashed at full speed towards the battlefield where the 8th Legion was raging.
