When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 22
Episode 22
Let’s rewind a bit to about 2 minutes before Jez snapped the Orc General’s sword.
Oscar’s 8th Legion, 2nd Regiment, led by Oscar, along with the Al-Faz’s unit and Jez’s group, safely merged on the battlefield, surrounded by the chariot unit, heading towards Graysian Castle.
For nearly a week, the members of the Al-Faz’s unit, who had been completely isolated, fought battle after battle, and now, amidst a large-scale allied force, they kept their formation intact without letting their guard down until the end. However, an unexpected event occurred as they saw the city gate looming ahead.
The right rear of the chariot unit, deployed to protect the Al-Faz’s unit, collapsed due to enemy attacks.
Some wounded soldiers from the chariot unit, caught up in the chaos and separated from the main unit. Seeing this from a distance, Jamil thought it was bad but shouted, “Don’t stop! If we stop here, we’ll collide with the rear!”
During group maneuvers, any partial actions by the cavalry could lead to a major accident. Therefore, quick instructions were given to prevent this. Oscar reluctantly decided to prioritize entering Graysian Castle to prevent chaos among the troops.
It seemed that Oscar also gave similar instructions.
One of the Al-Faz’s unit members, who was listening to Jamil’s instructions, saw a certain bureaucrat riding a horse in front of him.
With a light exclamation, the bureaucrat stood up on the saddle of the horse as if performing acrobatics.
“Jez-san!?”
“Oh? Ohh?” Jez balanced on the saddle, prompting a surprised glance from May Carter, a promising young member of the Al-Faz’s unit, at the bureaucrat’s eccentric behavior.
“Sorry, but I’ll go ahead for a bit, Carter. Please inform Jamil for me. And take care of my horse.”
Leaving those words behind, Jez released the magic stored in his legs and, with a light exclamation, jumped magnificently from the saddle.
Watching Jez make a clean landing after leaping over the surrounding Al-Faz’s unit members and the nearby chariot units, May wondered, “How should I report this to Captain Jamil…?” Feeling extremely bewildered, she managed to gather the reins of the horse left by Jez and rushed into Graysian Castle.
Shortly thereafter, May, feeling somewhat nervous as a young soldier reporting directly to Jamil, unexpectedly blurted out, “Jez-san jumped!” This surreal line caught Jamil off guard, and he burst into laughter, which was quite out of character for him.
And for a while, May would be teased within the Al-Faz’s unit with this incident. The seniors in the Al-Faz’s unit were not particularly forgiving when it came to the amusing failures of young soldiers.
Back to the present. Standing before the Orc General to protect Sofia and Clara, Jez intercepted the Orc General’s downward strike, broke the sword in a serious blade lock, and then, with strength in his arms, snapped it in half.
Seeing this, the Orc General threw away the broken sword and stood alert, wary of Jez.
While also keeping an eye on the Orc General and the surrounding monsters, Jez asked, “Are you two alright?” Startled by Jez’s voice, Sofia and Clara, behind him, said, “Sorry for the trouble. Thank you for saving us.”
The wounded soldiers had already been rescued. They could withdraw from the chariot now. But who was the man in the official attire in front of them? Still confused, Sofia asked, “The wounded soldiers have been retrieved. Shall we proceed with the chariot?”
“Understood. Just wait a moment.”
With those words, he increased his magical output and approached the Orc General. Reacting to this, the Orc General swung a punch, but the man rotated on the spot, avoiding the attack, and then swung his leg with magical power.
A roundhouse kick.
Striking the enemy with a blow carefully held back just enough to not completely obliterate them, the Orc General groaned in agony as he flew away, involving numerous surrounding monsters.
Amidst the confusion caused by the flying Orc General and the monsters around, Jez, still infused with magical power in his legs, charged forward with determination and full force, causing a seismic impact.
Earthquake.
The ground transmitted magical and physical vibrations, causing the feet of the monsters approaching Jez and his companions to explode, crack, and collapse. They were then plunged into a hellish scene of chaos.
“Go on!”
Jez, who had jumped onto Sofia and Clara’s chariot, urged them. “…Huh? What’s this?” Still taken aback, Sofia snapped back to reality and hastily whipped the horse to move the chariot.
Receiving support fire from the Graysian Castle walls, Sofia’s group safely reached Graysian Castle.
At the same time they returned, the heavy infantry unit deployed near the city gate unleashed a barrage of attack magic, taking advantage of the enemy’s momentary hesitation, and swiftly withdrew into the castle. They successfully closed the gates of the castle.
Thus, thanks to the actions of the 2nd Regiment of the 8th Legion, the Al-Faz’s unit and Jez’s group, they finally safely arrived inside Graysian Castle.
