When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 41
Episode 41
The members of the 10th, 9th, and 7th Legion’s 2nd Regiment, who successfully made contact with Fatima, were preparing for the counteroffensive operation the next day.
High-ranking officers like Maria Valenti, Ethan Morris, and Serena Castillo proceeded to a full-fledged military council after exchanging information with Fatima Kazumi.
Taking into account the previous battles, the enemy’s composition, the nature of the Orc Emperor, the terrain, and our own condition, the operation was steadily being planned.
Although the Orc Emperor has yet to be discovered, on our side, Princess René’s 1,000 knights are probably unnoticed by the enemy.
Both the Tashman Kingdom and the demon side are engaging in battle while keeping their strongest cards hidden. The timing of when to play those strongest cards will determine the outcome of the battle.
Without even realizing the excitement of the thrilling battle, Serena’s smile turned fierce and ecstatic after Fatima’s information exchange.
Noticing this, Ethan thought to himself, “Princess René and General Serena, they’re similar even in situations like this,” while feeling slightly astonished at the royal lineage, but more so, reassured.
And a few hours later…
After finalizing all the plans, they issued instructions to the entire army for the start of the operation the next day.
Fatima left the field headquarters again as a messenger to join Princess René’s 1,000 knights. The crux of this operation lies in these 1,000 knights of the 78th Composite Legion.
Therefore, it was necessary for Fatima to join Princess René and convey the plan. As Serena and the others bid farewell, the separate unit of Fatima and the Al-Faz’s unit disappeared into the darkness.
After less than half a day, they successfully joined Princess René’s group and managed to convey the full plan of Serena’s operation. Though it may seem modest, the role played by Al-Faz’s unit in this battle was immensely significant.
Thus, all preparations were complete.
The next day. The Tashman Kingdom finally launched a counteroffensive from the morning. Until now, the human side had been on the defensive, but they now showed a ruthless attack as if to vent all their pent-up frustration.
For the demon army, which had been in high spirits with continuous victories, it was the worst possible start to the day.
Leading the spearhead of this historic battle…
“The time for endurance has passed! Today, we will settle our sorrow, our regret, our hatred—everything!!”
In the center of the neatly arranged entire army, at the forefront, the deep blue flag of the 9th Legion was raised boldly along with the instructions of Maria Valenti, the interim commander of the 9th Legion.
“Beyond a week that felt like an eternity in hell, we are standing here now.”
As Maria slowly looked at the 2,000 people of the 9th Legion she led one by one, she poured out her passionate feelings.
“Who are we? If Elliot Crane, who is now deceased, were here, he would surely say this! The guardians of humanity, the pioneers, the citizens of the Tashman Kingdom—the strongest shield at the forefront, the 9th Legion. That’s who we are.”
Maria stared at the raised the Legion flag with a complex expression, filled with various emotions. Then, she closed her eyes for a moment, composed herself, and opened her eyes sharply, rallying her spirits. She drew her sword and raised it to the sky.
“We have lost much, failed to protect much. But still, we have no choice but to move forward. The only thing we can offer to our departed comrades is victory. Let’s go, everyone! Set forth!!”
With Maria’s command, the 2,000 members of the 9th Legion raised their weapons simultaneously. Satisfied with confirming each person’s expression, Maria nodded, took a deep breath, and…
“All forces, chargeeeee!!!”
Her rallying cry resounded throughout the entire battlefield from the depths of her soul as she led the charge at the forefront of the entire army.
…
“That Maria really stepped up her game.”
As the 9th Legion rampaged through the battlefield, wreaking havoc on the enemy forces as if to vent their pent-up frustrations, Serena, who supported them from the rear, muttered in satisfaction.
For the enemy, the unexpected assault by the 9th Legion must have been a shock. As a result, the frontlines of the enemy are in great chaos. The battle is progressing in favor of the Tashman Kingdom, but to the entire enemy force of 90,000, it’s just a small part.
Moreover, the whereabouts of the Orc Emperor are still unknown. Rather, the real battle is about to begin now.
As about an hour passed since the 9th Legion’s charge, Serena stepped forward just as signs of fatigue began to show and movements started to slow, signaling a switch to the attack.
“Are you ready?! The 9th Legion has shown such fiery fighting spirit. We, the 10th Legion, can’t afford to lose, right?”
As Serena spoke, the 10th Legion also began to switch from a support formation to an assault formation.
“Marcos, Derek, Isabel. Are you ready?”
The three Regiment commanders who boast under Serena’s leadership in the 10th Legion, Marcos Reynolds, Derek Miller, and Isabel Martin, nodded. There’s never a time when they’re not prepared. That’s what defines the 10th Legion as the 10th Legion.
“As planned, we’ll use strategic-level magic when the timing is right. Until then, I leave it to you.”
After issuing instructions, Serena drew her beloved, extravagant greatsword from its sheath on her back. She then removed one of the decorations wrapped around the sword to unlock one of the designated seals.
“Awaken the ancient bond, show forth the dormant power before me. Essence of light, the reason of all things, gather upon this blade, reveal your true form to this world.”
Alongside Serena’s incantation, a seven-colored light began to irregularly leak from the greatsword.
“Be the guiding light, obey my will and act. Led by the increasing radiance, tear apart my enemies, illuminate my path. First seal released. Arise, Radiant Cosmos Blade Overlay.”
A wave of overwhelming magical power was emitted from Serena’s extravagant greatsword. The Radiant Cosmos Blade Overlay. It’s the treasure sword passed down through generations of the Castillo family, the duke of the Tashman Kingdom and the backbone of Serena Castillo’s strategic-level magic.
Similar to the Flame Sovereign Sword used by René, it’s also a type of artifact. Serena, wielding the greatsword, grinned fiercely.
“It’s hunting time. Don’t be late to follow, okay? All forces, charge!!”
Amidst the battlefield where the 9th Legion rampaged, the army led by the warrior maiden, wielding the rainbow-colored greatsword, also joined the fray.
