When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 43
Episode 43
The 10th Legion Commander, Serena Castillo, unleashed the Ninth Tier Light Magic, Radiant Rain, showering the entire battlefield with a rain of light.
The monsters, bewildered by the sudden downpour, looked up at the sky. However, as soon as the raindrops touched them, they triggered explosive chain reaction.
At first glance, it was a beautiful rain of light. However, each raindrop was imbued with immense magical power. When disturbed, they would explode.
Amidst the fantastically shimmering raindrops painting the sky in seven colors, on the ground, a hellish scene unfolded as monsters touched by the rain exploded one after another.
Only around Serena did the rain not fall. The monsters attempting to approach her were also continuously exploding under the rain of light.
The demon army fell into great chaos. Some tried to escape the area where the rain of light fell, only to be hunted down by the 10th Legion members who had been waiting for them. Others attempted to shield themselves from the rain with shields, only to be engulfed in explosions along with their shields.
Taking advantage of this situation, attacks from the 9th Legion and the 2nd Regiment of the 7th Legion intensified, rapidly decreasing the number of the demon army.
Several minutes later, at the epicenter where the rain of light had ceased, Serena was there elegantly resealing the Radiant Cosmos Blade Overlay with movements reminiscent of a lady closing an umbrella.
This strategic magic successfully buried over half of the demon army. However, Serena, having expended a massive amount of magical power, was left with unsteady footing.
“…They took the bait!”
She sensed that her target had moved exactly as planned.
—
“This is incredible.”
Watching the enemies being annihilated by Serena’s strategic magic, Jez and the others exclaimed in admiration.
“Princess René’s tactics were impressive, but this is something else.”
While Jez and Jamil casually commented on the beautiful strategic magic before them,
“Is it time?”
Jamil, sensing that the rain of light was gradually losing momentum and that the rain would likely stop soon, returned to his position. Seeing his movement, the others also adjusted their positions accordingly.
With everyone carefully timing their assault, tension began to mount. And then,
“He’s coming!”
Fatima sensed the presence of the Orc Emperor. Upon hearing this, Princess René swiftly mounted her horse and commanded,
“All troops, as planned! Let’s go!”
Whipping their horses, they charged down the hill. Surrounding René were the Royal Guard led by Lilly, already running alongside her, followed by a total of 1000 cavalry led by Jamil, Erin, and Sofia.
An ambush just as the strategic magic seemed to have settled down. Though the demon army fell into chaos once again, René and her troops ignored them and headed straight for Serena.
And right beside Serena,
“Gwaaahhh!”
The Orc Emperor suddenly appeared, about to strike. Serena, struggling due to the depletion of her magical power, attempted to retreat. Sofia’s Chariot Squad and Jamil’s cavalry immediately launched magical and arrow attacks to obstruct the Orc Emperor’s charge and protect Serena.
The Orc Emperor, annoyed by these attacks, momentarily diverted his attention. Seizing the opportunity, Serena tried to create distance, but the Orc Emperor noticed and swung his greatsword once more.
Will they make it in time?! As everyone on the battlefield anxiously wondered,
“Seeeaaahhh!”
The Orc emperor’s greatsword was caught with a dull thud, along with the sound of a wailing spirit.
“Lilly! Thank God! Serena-sama, get back quickly!”
Intercepting it was Lilly Johnson, the commander of the 7th Legion’s Royal Guard. Known for her prowess in protecting others, she had completed the incantation for the Seventh Tier Magic, Heavenly Canopy Protection. By activating this top-tier defensive magic with a special magic stone embedded in her round shield, she provided an ironclad defense.
While blocking the Orc Emperor’s greatsword with her shield, Lilly stood in front of Serena, protecting her. After a brief moment of equilibrium, the greatsword was once again raised. Lilly managed to dodge, parry, and deflect the attacks. Even just fending off the Orc Emperor’s assaults required extraordinary skill, but her defensive magic was gradually starting to crack.
While Lilly managed to buy some time, the Chariot Squad swooped in to retrieve Serena and withdraw from the battlefield.
Seeing this, the Orc Emperor roared in anger and struck with a powerful blow.
“Gwaaahhh!” “Kuuuh!”
Though Lilly managed to avoid a fatal wound, she was still blown away. The members of the Royal Guard took turns deflecting the Orc Emperor’s pursuit, while the Al-Faz’s unit surrounding them continued to rain down tactical-grade magic arrows in a downpour.
Growing increasingly irritated by the nuisance, the Orc Emperor attempted to roar again, but was interrupted.
“Would you mind shutting up already?!”
Suddenly before the Orc Emperor’s eyes, clad in flame armor, with hair and eyes tinged red with magic, came René Tashman, flashing into action.
A magic typically reserved for strategic use, compressing the power and spell formula of strategic magic into a single individual’s body, manifested in the form of the Eighth Tier Magic, Flame Spirit Armor. It was a formula to adorn oneself with spirits, a type of external spirit armor.
As René, transformed into the embodiment of flames, fiercely clashed with the Orc Emperor, attempting to sever his head, the Orc Emperor, refusing to be outdone, displayed his hidden strength.
As sparks flew and embers danced around them, the fierce swordplay escalated. Finally, at this point, they were evenly matched. Though René, inwardly amazed at the strength despite the cunning personality of her opponent, thought, “What incredible power,” she continued,
“I’ll settle this here! Spirit Armor Overdrive!”
With the aid of shields held by Lilly and the Royal Guard, as well as a special magic stone carried by René, their magical power surged even higher.
The magic stones began to crack, and the magical power of René and her allies was rapidly depleting. However, with her stance ready, René poured her all into the Flame Sovereign Sword.
“Flame Sovereign Sword, unleash the final strike with my power! Tear through the heavens and scorch the earth with the concluding sword flash! ‘Flame Sovereign Heavenly Soar Slash’!”
The Flame Sovereign Sword surged with flames. Its color, surpassing crimson, shone white. René took a lightning-fast step forward. The ultimate strike, infused with all her magical power, descended upon the Orc Emperor, cleaving him in half.
—
Accompanied by a brilliant flash of intense flames, the Orc Emperor was split in two from the crown of his head. A moment of silence enveloped the battlefield, but soon,
“Wooooooahhh!”
A simultaneous victorious cheer erupted from the Tashman Kingdom army. Smiling contentedly at their cheers, René waved back, her hands trembling.
Having utilized the Spirit Armor and received assistance from the Royal Guard, along with the exhaustion of all their energy and magical power, René and her allies were completely spent.
Unable to move any longer, René resisted the urge to collapse on the spot and fall into deep slumber.
Even though Lilly and the Royal Guard were also exhausted, with their magical power depleted, they congratulated each other on their efforts.
However, amidst this, came Fatima’s scream echoing across the battlefield. From the shadow of the Orc Emperor, now split in two, emerged,
“…There’s another one?”
Emerging as if slipping out from the shadows was another Orc Emperor. René, with a dry laugh, muttered despairingly,
—
How did the Orc Emperor manage to conceal himself? Once you knew, it was a simple story, but apparently, he had hidden in the shadows with a shadow magic of extradimensional nature.
Furthermore, judging from the appearance of the newly emerged individual, it seemed that the Orc Emperors were a couple. René, with a resigned expression, faced the enemy.
Serena’s strategic magic had been unleashed, and René’s all-out attack had just finished. There was no way for the Tashman Kingdom side to defeat that enemy anymore.
Everyone on the battlefield knew this, which only heightened the overwhelming sense of despair.
Though René herself felt on the verge of giving up, she couldn’t afford to falter here. But what could she do? In the midst of her futile thoughts,
“Hey, I’ll take care of this.”
Fluttering his official robes in the wind of the battlefield, a civil official stood defiantly before the Emperor of the beasts. With insolence, he crossed his arms and stood firm.
Yes. Throughout history, it was always the role of civil officials to stop the rampage of tyrannical emperors.
