When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 45, Part 1 Epilogue
Episode 45, Part 1 Epilogue
“Ouch…”
In the medical room of the 7th Legion’s base in Kohane, Jez Norman was quietly writhing in pain on the bed.
Due to the incomprehensible Concept Armament of the official attire, Jez had been forcibly infused with an enormous amount of magic power. As a result, his entire magic circuit was now in an abnormal state, and he had become a resident of the bed.
Several days had passed since Jez had defeated the Orc Emperor with the Tenth Tier Neutral Attribute Magic, Bloodless Revolution.
Immediately after, Jez collapsed on the spot, along with the injured soldiers, and some members of the 7th Legion, including René and Erin, returned to Kohane.
The trend of the battlefield itself was practically decided in favor of humanity once the Orc Emperor was defeated. Moreover, shortly after the majority of the monster army was decimated by Serena’s strategic-level magic, there was little resistance left, and the remnants of the monsters were gradually eliminated.
With the magic depleted Serena, René, Lilly, Erin, and the 10th Legion, 9th Legion, 7th Legion 2nd Regiment, and 78th War-Time Composite Legion, it took less than half a day for the battle to end.
However, this was not the end, as the reason why the Tashman Kingdom stood at the forefront was because they never stopped here.
Two days after the battle assembly, a counteroffensive began in earnest with the aim of swiftly retaking Bastiona, with the infantry of the 78th War-Time Composite Legion led by Oscar joining forces with the 10th, 9th Legions, and the 7th Legion 3rd Regiment stationed in Kohane.
The 7th Legion 2nd Regiment and the 1000 cavalry led by René remained in Kohane. Originally, the 9th Legion was supposed to stay in Kohane until the reorganization was complete, but at the urging of Maria Valenti, the interim commander of the 9th Legion, they participated in the recapture operation.
Initially, René rejected the deployment due to concerns about the exhaustion and fatigue of the soldiers. However, after seeing the 2000 warriors standing in order at the temporary garrison of the 9th Legion led by Maria, she changed her mind.
Despite not being mentally or physically in perfect condition, the soldiers of the 9th Legion stood orderly with strong determination and expressions filled with will. Just a few days ago, their weapons were worn out, but now they were polished and shining brightly under the sun.
Receiving their determination, René, too, made up her mind as the one giving orders.
“Interim Commander of the 9th Legion, Maria Valenti!”
“Yes.”
Before René, Maria and the 2000 soldiers of the 9th Legion knelt down and lined up in front of her. Then, another 2000 soldiers also knelt down.
“I hereby give you a special mission based on Royal Order 11 authority. You must recapture Bastiona at all costs. I won’t allow anyone to set foot on the land beyond Kohane until this mission is successful. Make sure to accomplish it… I’m counting on you.”
“Understood.”
Following Maria, the 2000 soldiers of the 9th Legion silently brimmed with fighting spirit.
…
Thus, just two days after the battle ended with the Orc Emperor, the Tashman Kingdom began a full-fledged counteroffensive. Led by Serena Castillo, the commander of the 10th Legion, followed by Maria Valenti, who would later be called the “Unyielding in Adversity,” leading the 9th Legion, and Oscar Bailey, who would later be called the “Latecomer,” leading 2000 infantry, the 7th Legion 3rd Regiment marched forward with unstoppable momentum.
Killing every last monster, just two weeks later, Bastiona was successfully recaptured.
During this time, the civilian(?) was writhing in agony on the bed without a care in the world.
…
The Conceptual Armament, Civilian Control Leviathan, was indeed an incredible Conceptual Armament, but it only manipulated the magic power on the battlefield.
The combination of this Conceptual Armament and Jez’s “inability to release magic properly” constitution resulted in an unbelievably powerful single blow.
Understanding Jez’s characteristics was crucial for Alchemist Victor Alchemis. Regardless, it was a one-off custom-made item, and both the user and the situation had to be carefully chosen.
After releasing the Golden Right Straight, the functions of the official attire stopped. The Conceptual Armament, which had been in deployment mode, lost its radiance and returned to its original shape, causing Jez to collapse on the spot.
It is worth mentioning that as Jez collapsed, he was actually thinking, “I’m glad the clothes didn’t tear,” a truly irrelevant thought.
Even though he was good at compressing magic due to his inability to release it properly, Jez had never experienced taking in and compressing such a large amount of magic power into his body.
In short, Jez’s body was screaming. Especially his right hand, which had lost sensation for the first few days.
Jez deeply reflected on the incident when he casually joked, “Hey, is my right hand still attached?” to Erin and René, they genuinely worried about him. He vowed seriously not to make such jokes again.
During his recovery efforts, a series of battles known as the Southern Great Uprising also came to an end.
One day, as Jez lay on the bed in the sickroom as usual, René and Erin came in.
“So, we’re heading back to the capital. You’re coming too,” René said.
According to René, they needed to return to the capital to report on the recapture of Bastiona and the Royal Order 11. Additionally, Erin added, “I want my mentor to check on Jez’s condition.”
It seemed like they planned everything without his knowledge. Just as Jez was about to say something, Princess René smirked and said, “Jez Norman, your position as deputy commander of the 78th War-Time Composite Legion is hereby dissolved. Instead, you’re appointed as my chief secretary. I’ll need you and Erin to work together on drafting a report for the Royal Order 11 to be submitted to the Royal Council.”
With a slightly smug expression, René casually patted Jez’s shoulder and said, “So, it’s a very bureaucratic job, isn’t it? I’m counting on you, self-proclaimed bureaucrat.”
A bureaucrat couldn’t escape from a princess’ orders.
