When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 52
Episode 52
The bureaucrat danced gracefully through the air as Ramses’ left uppercut cleanly struck his jaw. He soared, then crashed into the anti-army barrier that had been erected, collapsing on the spot.
The atmosphere in the royal capital’s grand plaza now resembled that of an arena, with spectators fervently cheering on the intense battle. Both the king and the bureaucrat had been sent flying once.
Now, how will the challenger respond? Spectators watched with bated breath. Naturally, the masses gathered in the plaza had no idea about Jez’s less-than-optimal condition; they were simply enjoying the spectacle of the fight.
On the other hand, even sensible figures like the Chief of the Royal Guard, Ilyas, and the epitome of rationality, Jamil, wore troubled expressions. Despite the necessity of putting on a show for external audiences, they couldn’t help but question the treatment of this esteemed individual.
However, there was nothing more they could do at this point.
Furthermore, Erin, upon spotting Prime Minister William nearby, directed an expressionless smile at her father, unlike anything Lilly had ever seen before. Noticing this, Lilly unconsciously muttered, “Wow, scary.”
Amidst the chaotic situation, where various intentions intersected, Ramses himself was internally sweating buckets, thinking, “Huh, isn’t this a bit awkward?”
The person he had just punched was the hero who had slain the Orc Emperor. Treating the greatest contributor to the country in this manner—how could it not seem awkward from a king’s perspective?
Despite his health not being fully restored, Ramses had intended to call it a draw as soon as Jez deployed his conceptual armament. Considering the conceptual armament Jez possessed, it should have made for a good match.
The most significant point Ramses wanted to confirm this time was the unidentified conceptual armament not registered in the country. Initially, when he read the report from Zwey, Ramses had laughed at the seemingly unreasonable content. However, the report contained too many serious matters to be dismissed as a mere joke.
If such dangerous items were to sprout up without any oversight, it would be disastrous. It was an unprecedented situation for a ruler where strategic-grade weapons existed unnoticed in the city.
Therefore, while assessing Jez’s abilities, confirming the performance of conceptual armaments, and demonstrating the presence of formidable military forces like Jez and Ramses in the Tashman Kingdom to suppress the unrest among the people and other nations, Ramses had meticulously considered various factors.
However, why wasn’t Jez Norman activating his conceptual armament? Ramses had gone through the trouble of retrieving a rarely-used conceptual armament from the warehouse through cumbersome procedures.
For the record, Ramses was unaware that Jez’s conceptual armament was broken. Naturally, because Jez himself had not reported the malfunction of his official clothing’s conceptual armament. In fact, Jez himself still didn’t fully understand the situation with his official clothing.
It was obvious to anyone that the conceptual armament of the pen was broken. On the other hand, the official clothing had only been disassembled, and from the perspective of others, it wasn’t even clear whether it was functioning.
It was a complete communication error in terms of reporting, contacting, and consulting. It was a rare mistake for a bureaucrat. Because of this, everyone was now in such a predicament that no one dared to act.
“Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!”
Suddenly, uproarious laughter echoed throughout the royal capital. Where was it coming from?! Everyone looked around, but couldn’t find the source.
What is this? Ramses, René, and the people crowded in the plaza were bewilderedly looking around when,
“Up there, up!”
Another voice was amplified, and as people looked up, above the top of the anti-army barrier that had been deployed, even further above, in the expansive blue sky… Was it a bird?! A dragon?! No, it was an alchemist!!
Standing upright in midair, his white coat billowing in the wind, was the eccentric alchemist, Victor Alchemis. He had finally joined the fray.
—
“Yo!”
Though the principle was unknown, the alchemist standing in midair began to free fall with a light shout.
It seemed like he would crash into the anti-army barrier, but,
“Huh?!?”
As if there was nothing there at all, he slipped through the barrier and elegantly landed beside the fallen Jez.
The ones who were more surprised than anyone else were Chief of the Royal Guard Ilyas and the members of the Royal Guard. The barrier currently deployed was the pinnacle of defense that even strategic-grade magic couldn’t breach.
To have it so easily breached like this was unthinkable. No, it shouldn’t have happened at all. It was an absurd occurrence that could shake the foundation of national defense. Yet, it had happened as if nothing had occurred.
And the white-coated alchemist who accomplished this seemed completely oblivious to the bewildered expressions of Ilyas and the others. He squatted beside Jez, who was lying there, and said,
“Yo, Jez. Long time no see. You still alive?”
Completely unconcerned about the surroundings, he poked Jez with his index finger.
After poking him for a while, Jez, who had regained consciousness, staggered to his feet. Seeing this, Victor clapped his hands together with a smirk.
“Wow, you’re quite sturdy, huh? Well, some things never change, like your luck.”
“Hey, shut it. What do you want? Get out of the way already.”
Meeting Victor after a long time, Jez’s and Victor’s interaction was so casual that it didn’t seem like they hadn’t seen each other for a while. While the Royal Guard and Ramses himself were on guard against the suspicious figure who suddenly appeared within the barrier, they realized he seemed to be an acquaintance of Jez’s and watched the situation.
While casually glancing at the surroundings, Victor said, “Well, calm down. I’ve been waiting for you to return to the capital.”
“Yeah, yeah. So what? What do you want here? I have to take down the guy right in front of me now.”
“Oh, I saw it. I laughed at the unexpected turn of events. So, do you have any plan?”
Knowing that Jez was at a loss, the grinning alchemist asked.
Despite sighing, thinking, “This guy definitely knows,” Jez replied,
“Well, honestly, it’s tough.”
The moment he heard those words, the alchemist smirked as if he had been waiting for it and said,
“I thought something like this might happen.”
While saying this, he took out two pens from inside his white coat, then neatly unfolded a new official garment.
“…What’s that?”
The last thing Victor took out from inside his white coat was that thing office workers wear on both arms. You all know the name of that thing, right? The author didn’t know, so he Googled it as “thing office workers wear on arms.”
“It’s an arm cover. Or arm sleeve. It’s also called an arm cover. It’s an essential item for bureaucrats.”
“…I didn’t ask for the name. So what?”
Seeing that it was still a waste of time to deal with Victor as usual, Jez took the three essential items for bureaucrats—pens, official garments, and arm covers.
“Use them all. Then you’ll become the Full Armor Bureaucrat Mk-II.”
“…What?”
“Rejoice. You’re now the Full Armor Bureaucrat Mk-II.”
“…Couldn’t you come up with a slightly better name?”
Thus, the bureaucrat was modernized to counteract the pitiful king who was inadvertently causing a minor uproar.
