When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 73
Episode 73
At the research lab of the Royal Academy, Lucy Hallway briefed Jez and Erin first on the investigation status regarding conceptual armaments.
Jez had used the Full Armor Bureaucrat Mk-II, arm covers, and pen during the public debate with the king. The members of the Academy and Lucy’s team had been investigating these items for the past few days.
“Sorry, but we haven’t made any progress with the investigation,” Lucy said casually. Jez and Erin listened to her, feeling somewhat resigned even though they had anticipated this to some extent.
“Even Professor Lucy and the people from the Academy are at a loss?” Jez asked.
“Unfortunately, yes. It seems the genius alchemist’s masterpiece is no ordinary creation,” Lucy replied.
According to Lucy, over the past few days, she and the members of the Academy had been tirelessly investigating the conceptual armaments left behind by the eccentric alchemist. However, they hadn’t even grasped a clue yet.
“Conceptual armaments themselves are excavated from ruins, so there are many aspects that are not well understood. The Absolute Monarchy Arcadia used by the Tashman Kingdom and the Justice Bell used by the church are said to have been unearthed from ancient ruins according to old documents,” Lucy explained.
According to Lucy, ancient powers such as the ones used by the Tashman royal family and the church are conceptual armaments obtained from ruins through some means. Moreover, most of the conceptual armaments confirmed to exist outside the Tashman royal family and the church were also said to be excavated from ruins.
“That’s why the cases where conceptual armaments have been pseudo-reproduced are extremely limited. Well, Victor-kun is indeed impressive, isn’t he?” Lucy remarked.
Jez and Erin couldn’t help but feel exasperated at the thought of such valuable items being created so easily. It seemed the eccentric alchemist was truly eccentric.
Furthermore, according to Lucy, the conceptual armaments pseudo-created by Victor differed slightly from those previously confirmed.
“Generally, conceptual armaments symbolize their respective concepts. And the more widely known and accepted the concept is in society, the higher the status of the conceptual armament,” Lucy continued.
For example, the Absolute Monarchy Arcadia was very straightforward. In a world where there is a constant struggle between humans and monsters, this continent is essentially always in a state of war. In such a society, an absolute monarchy with a clear chain of command would naturally be more compatible, and it would be what the people demand from their ruler.
This is why those conceptual armaments can become powerful weapons. However…
“The pseudo-conceptual armaments created by Victor-kun and used by Jez-kun are extremely unconventional, or at least the ideas behind them were not something I had ever considered,” Lucy said.
Indeed, the biggest reason why this investigation was difficult was because no one knew where the concepts symbolized by the conceptual armaments Jez used originated from.
The Pen is Mightier than the Sword – Jabberwock
Civilian Control – Enlightenment Leviathan – Chaos Gate
Freedom of Speech – Behemoth
Where do these concepts come from? Records of similar statements made by progressive politicians and jurists in the rearward states have been confirmed in the past few days of investigation. However, at least in the Tashman Kingdom, such ideas are considered very minor. How can they exhibit strength to defeat the Orc Emperor?
Furthermore, during the battle between Jez and the king in the capital, the Seven-Bull, which was confirmed, produced such absurd effects that had never been seen before.
All these events completely ignore the conservation law of magical elements. Moreover, there were reports of high-energy reactions from the ruins confirmed near the church at the same time Jez was fighting the king, or when he defeated the Orc Emperor.
There are signs that beings called angels were involved. Although the church does not publicly acknowledge the existence of angels, they are well-known to some researchers and politicians.
While the church forces seem to view angels favorably, it is unclear how much they can be trusted.
These various circumstances make this investigation into the conceptual armaments quite challenging. It was understandable why Lucy said there had been no progress.
“… Even though you say there’s been no progress, you’ve been researching quite a bit,” Jez joked, feeling a sense of seriousness beyond what he had anticipated.
“Well, it’s necessary. The Academy is putting all its efforts into this, and the Alchemis Family is also genuinely looking for Victor-kun this time,” Lucy replied.
While saying so, Lucy looked at Jez. “But in my opinion, Jez-kun, you’re the key to this whole affair,” Lucy continued, her somewhat serious expression contrasting with the previous nonchalant atmosphere. “Sorry, but due to this incident, I had to re-investigate both Victor-kun and Jez-kun,” she added.
According to her, Victor seemed to be just genuinely eccentric, with nothing else remarkable about him. That, in itself, only emphasized Victor’s peculiarity. And then there’s Jez.
“Jez-kun, you’re adopted into the Norman family, right? That’s not particularly relevant, but what were you doing before you were adopted?” The conversation seemed to take a tense turn, prompting Erin to step forward to defend Jez, but Jez stopped her with a hand gesture. He then signaled to Lucy to continue.
“Jez Norman, or should I say, Jez Wist-kun? You’re a survivor of the Wist family of prophets, aren’t you?”
