When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 80
Episode 80
A terrorist plot towards the royal capital, Nevorista, was discovered by Cynthia. This information was shared with the relevant parties through the commander of the 0th Legion.
The day after Cynthia reported it, units other than Cynthia’s within the 0th Legion, as well as other intelligence and public agencies, began secret investigations. As a result, suspicious movements corroborating the information obtained by Cynthia’s team were identified the next day.
From the perspective of other countries and forces, the Tashman Kingdom tends to focus on frontline combat and military strength, but particularly since the reign of King Ramses, their counterespionage measures have been strengthened, making them adept in information warfare. One could say they have no blind spots. Consequently, while specific objectives and forces of the opposing side remained unclear, the general movements were understood.
To prevent the enemy from taking the initiative, Cynthia’s proposal was adopted: using bait as a lure. Deliberately leaking part of the schedule of the Kingdom’s Parliament, which was not traditionally made public, to a select few. Alongside individuals of interest to enemy forces, such as Jez Norman, King Ramses, and Prime Minister Saylor, many other dignitaries attended the Parliament session.
Considering the assembly at the Parliament, it was, in a sense, a gathering of the kingdom’s highest strength. Some questioned the wisdom of attacking such a perilous place. However, judging from the movements of the enemy forces thus far, the likelihood of an attack was deemed high.
And so, the day arrived. Just as the Parliament, convened on short notice, was about to adjourn, the moment came.
At the Parliament, a man claiming to be a ‘demon’ and a dragon appeared simultaneously, triggering explosions across various locations within the royal capital.
While a dozen locations were hit, fortunately, due to the enemy operating in less crowded areas and various organizations acting based on information from the 0th Legion, there were no casualties.
This reaffirmed to the demon side and other nations the overwhelming power of the Tashman Kingdom.
As the explosions occurred, forces stationed throughout the capital mobilized simultaneously.
In a certain location within the capital, Cynthia Clark led her team from the 0th Legion.
Near the Royal Cathedral, Archbishop Edelmar Solemnis led the Holy Knights.
At the Royal Academy, Student Council President Luca Norman, exchange student and saint Lucretia Alma, and adventurer and apprentice archaeologist Lucia Norman were present.
Near the Legion’s garrison, Jamil Al-Faz, the captain of the Al-Faz’s unit of the 7th Legion, led his team.
Near the Royal Palace, the Royal Guard, led by Legion Commander Ilyas Valenkov, was stationed.
And in other areas, members of the 1st Legion and patrol units responded.
Furthermore, in the Parliament’s chamber, there were two active Legion Commanders, René and Maria, along with King Ramses and the former Legion Commander turned Parliament Chairman Ivan Dragomir. Erin, Lilly, and even Jez were also present.
All of them faced the abnormality in the capital simultaneously.
…
That day, Lady Cynthia had taken some of her accumulated paid leave and was off work at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. She was supposed to be taking three days of paid leave to go on a refreshing trip.
“…Cynthia-sama, suspicious individuals have arrived.”
Currently, she was conducting surveillance with her team from a certain covert base.
All members of Cynthia’s team had gathered today, despite being on break from their regular duties….When do they take their vacations? The work schedule of the 0th Corps is worrisome.
Today, Cynthia’s team members were all dressed in the uniforms of the capital’s patrol units, with disguised faces. They appeared to be regular patrol units at first glance, but they were actually a fictitious unit that didn’t match any roster.
While surveilling, they observed a suspicious individual drawing a mysterious magic circle in an alley. When to intervene was the question on Cynthia’s mind.
As soon as the suspicious individual finished drawing the magic circle, they suddenly looked around anxiously.
“Oh no!?”
By the time Cynthia realized it, it was too late. The suspicious person swiftly stabbed themselves with a sinister dagger from their pocket and collapsed onto the magic circle.
“Damn it, let’s go!!”
Leaving them alone would be dangerous. Sensing the danger, Cynthia dashed out of the surveillance base. But then…
As the magic circle, stained with the blood of the fallen suspicious individual, suddenly began to glow, it erupted with a deafening roar, causing a massive explosion.
Just before the major explosion occurred, Cynthia’s team deployed a barrier they had set up in advance. This prevented significant damage from occurring.
While Cynthia and her team dealt with the explosion, explosions could be heard from other parts of the capital. It seemed to have started simultaneously from various locations.
For each location, forces had been deployed in advance based on prior communication. They would handle the situation there. Cynthia and her team would also fulfill their own roles until then.
As Cynthia and her team pondered such matters, the smoke from the explosions cleared, revealing before them.
The Orc King.
A dozen Orc Kings, the same kind with the ones who had wreaked havoc even during the Southern Great Uprising, had appeared in the capital
