When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 87
Episode 87
A man claiming to be of the demon tribe, Azargon, and a dragon appeared over the Kingdom’s Parliament building. Immediately after that…
Due to the activation of King Ramses’ city-class conceptual armament, Golden City S.P.Q.R., the movements of the demon tribe and the dragon were restrained.
Inside the Kingdom’s Parliament building were 300 members including Parliament Chairman Ivan Dragomir, overseeing officials from various ministries, King Ramses, Crown Prince Leo, the Prime Minister, and heads of various ministries. Also present were René, Maria, Erin, Lilly, and Jez.
King Ramses seemed unable to move freely due to activating the city-class conceptual armament. He was surrounded by the Prime Minister and members of the Royal Guard.
Reports continued to arrive of Orc Kings appearing throughout the capital, but it seemed they were currently able to handle them effectively.
Sounds of battle and explosions could be heard even within the Parliament building.
It seemed the preparations by the 0th Legion of the intelligence agency, as well as the 1st Legion and the Royal Guard, had all been effective. If things continued like this, the situation would likely unfold within the expected range for the Tashman Kingdom.
On the other hand, Azargon glared irritably at King Ramses and those around him receiving reports inside the Parliament building, but then sighed once.
“I didn’t expect they would handle this so cleanly. Truly beyond my expectations. Quite troublesome.”
Surrounded by members of the Royal Guard and security troops, Azargon remained calm. He attempted to break through the restraints by force. Observing this, King Ramses questioned him.
“You underestimate our country. By the way, let me ask again, who are you? You claimed to be of the demon tribe.”
The people in the Parliament nodded in agreement with King Ramses’ question. However, Azargon maintained an impolite demeanor and simply replied,
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
Azargon seemed unwilling to provide further answers. King Ramses was also concerned about the dragon outside the Parliament. He quickly decided it would be difficult to extract information and issued rapid instructions.
“Leo Tashman, Ivan Dragomir. Deal with that man claiming to be of the demon tribe over there. And René Tashman, Maria Valenti, Jez Norman. Take care of the dragon outside.”
“Understood.”
As soon as the King gave his instructions, René, Maria, Erin, Lilly, and Jez dashed out of the Parliament. Some members of the Royal Guard and security personnel also moved under the Prime Minister’s orders to support them.
Meanwhile, Ivan Dragomir remained in the Parliament. He stepped forward towards the man claiming to be of the demon tribe. Leo also positioned himself to protect King Ramses, ready to support Ivan at any moment. Among the Parliament’s members were those with fighting capabilities who armed themselves and provided further support.
With a thorough preparation, this was indeed a Parliament. Yet, simultaneously, it was one of the decision-making bodies at the forefront of the Tashman Kingdom. Its combat capabilities were unmatched by any other nation.
While these responses were swiftly unfolding, Azalgon remained restrained. He was still caught in the bindings.
“This conceptual armament truly is vexing. The restraint doesn’t seem to loosen.”
He muttered in frustration, but the magic binding him gradually creaked. King Ramses continued to activate the city-class conceptual armament with all his might, but even magical power had its limits.
King Ramses had managed the improbable feat of restraining not only the demon before him and the dragon directly above, but also the Orc Kings appearing throughout the capital. However, his limits were nearing. Still, buying this much time would have allowed for the deployment of troops throughout the capital.
Nearly ten minutes had passed since the city-class conceptual armament was activated. King Ramses remained calm without changing his expression, yet a faint sweat could be seen on his forehead.
The demon was aware of this situation. Naturally, the Tashman Kingdom’s members also noticed this.
However, with this much time bought, evacuation of non-combatants within the Parliament had been completed. The stage was set to confront the dragons outside before it went on a rampage.
Ivan Dragomir, Chairman of the Kingdom’s Parliament and former commander of the 7th Legion, observed the situation’s developments and finally took action upon confirming the situation was under control.
Borrowing a greatsword from a Knight of the Royal Guard, he infused it with all his magical power and swung down with all his might.
However…
It felt like striking steel with a sword. A thunderous roar echoed throughout the Parliament. The large sword, driven from neck to shoulder to sever the demon, barely lodged its blade into its skin.
Ivan Dragomir, though retired, had been an active Legion Commander until just two or three years ago. Despite this, he couldn’t cut down the restrained enemy.
Upon witnessing this fact, everyone in the Parliament revised their perception of the enemy’s threat.
With a slightly surprised expression, Ivan withdrew his sword and leaped back as instructed by Leo. Simultaneously, attacks from those in the Parliament who were chanting offensive magic were unleashed.
There were over a hundred capable fighters left within the Parliament. Furthermore, every one of them was skilled beyond average. All of their attacks exploded on him.
“…That hurts, doesn’t it?”
From within the smoke and dust emerged the demon, looking somewhat sooty. Although it had sustained some damage, it was still going strong.
As the individuals deployed within the Parliament wore somewhat bitter expressions, Leo Tashman attempted to draw his sword from his waist.
“Your Highness. Using that here would be troublesome later,” Ivan interjected, stopping him. Hearing this, Leo looked at Ivan and asked,
“…Can you handle it?”
“Yes. Please leave it to me. This Parliament is my workplace after all.”
Observing this exchange with keen interest, Azargon muttered to himself,
“Even in this state, are you holding back? You’re going to die.”
He grinned nefariously. However, the former Legion Commander and current Chairman of the Kingdom’s Parliament, known as the “Iron Will,” remained calm at all times.
Reinforcing his entire body once again with magic, Ivan renewed his attack on the demon.
“This level of opponent doesn’t require the King or the Prince to intervene.”
And thus began the exchange of several blows. The battle unfolded within the Parliament, with the demon and the Chairman maintaining a standoff. Furthermore, attack magic poured in from all corners of the Parliament to support the Chairman, but all were deftly handled.
With neither side landing a decisive blow, it was clear the demon still had reserves.
“What, is this all?” The demon expressed slight disappointment.
At that moment of laxity, the chairman returned from the platform to his seat.
“Hm?”
Then suddenly realizing, he found that the members of Parliament who had been supporting him were all back in their seats.
The demon questioned this scene with suspicion.
“Then, let’s proceed with the judgment.”
The voice of the Chairman of the Kingdom’s Parliament resounded throughout the Parliament, followed by the striking of a gavel. In the Chairman’s hand was a wooden ceremonial gavel.
“What’s this?” The demon was puzzled, but the Chairman continued with a serious expression.
“According to parliamentary tradition, the introduction of weapons beyond the sword line and violence are prohibited. This tradition has been violated by the demon. Therefore, under the authority of the Chairman of the Kingdom’s Parliament, I invoke a Motion for Punitive Measures under the Kingdom’s Parliament Law. Those in favor, raise your hands.”
With Ivan Dragomir’s words, all the remaining members of the Parliament raised their hands. The demon, bewildered, suddenly realized: this is bad. Is this some kind of ritual to activate magic!?
By the time he realized, it was already too late. Although Ivan sensed that the demon had realized something,
“Ladies and gentlemen of the Parliament, thank you for unanimous approval. Let’s begin.
…Special Ritual Magic: Kingdom’s Parliament Motion of Punishment, Saint Helena, Activate.”
The demon attempted to attack Ivan. But restraining magic was released throughout the Parliament, halting its movements.
And before its eyes,
stood the Chairman of the Kingdom’s Parliament, wielding an enlarged gavel.
A dull crushing sound reverberated throughout the Parliament.
