This thread discusses the mysterious salaryman explorer who appeared in the Okutama Dungeon.  

Summary of the salaryman explorer so far:  

– Originally wore some kind of official uniform?  

– Accompanied by a mysterious mascot character  

– Transforms into a suited figure by holding up a smartphone  

– Primarily armed with a large spear  

– Can fly through the air

“What’s with that weird look on your face?”  

René, fresh out of the shower and drying her hair with a towel, returned to the living room. While pulling out some barley tea from the fridge in the kitchen, she called out to Jez. He was sitting on the sofa with a serious expression, smartphone in hand.  

“Oh, I was just looking something up…”  

As he said this, Jez handed his phone to René. Sitting down beside him with a cup in hand, René scrolled through the phone’s screen and then smirked mischievously.  

“Oh, wow, you’re super popular.”  

She flashed a sly grin, which made Jez shake his head in exasperation.  

It had already been a week since Jez defeated the undead dragon using his Conceptual Armament: From the New World—Ame no Murakumo.

Right after that battle, the golden sacred sword had exhausted its magical power and vanished. Vicpo disappeared with a strange cry. According to Vicpo’s last words, everything would be fine if Jez just checked his smartphone.  

Jez successfully retrieved the energy crystal, the Dragon Fragment, that had appeared from the dragon. He then smashed the ground beneath him, kicking up a large cloud of dust. Using that as cover, he made his escape. After retrieving René, whom he had hidden in the mountains of Okutama, they pressed further into the wilderness.  

Once they were a safe distance from the scene and Jez could no longer sense anyone nearby using exploration magic, he finally allowed himself to relax.

He fetched water from a nearby clear stream, purified it with life magic, and quenched his thirst before starting to investigate the now-familiar smartphone. Once again, he was struck by the absurdity of Victor’s foresight.

Everything Jez and René needed to live in Japan was stored in that smartphone. It contained documents confirming their identity, such as family registry, identification, and passports, as well as a bank account with funds already deposited and a residence. Of course, the phone even had an active number. On top of that, even minor conveniences had been considered—like a pre-charged Suica card.

(Note:

Suica card is a prepaid card you can use in Tokyo and wider Japan. You can use it on trains, subways, and buses, as well for vending machines, some convenience stores, and station-area facilities like coin lockers)

It was almost too thorough to be believed.

The bank account held around 10 million yen. With that amount, they wouldn’t have to worry about their immediate living expenses. …Though it was unclear where the money had come from.

Their residence was an apartment near JR Kichijoji Station, a 2LDK. It seemed they were expected to head there for the time being.

René still hadn’t regained consciousness. According to Victor, as long as they kept the Dragon Fragment with her, she would eventually wake up. It had already been more than 30 minutes since the fragment had been placed on Princess René, and she had started to stir. At this rate, she would likely wake soon.

As Jez pondered this, there was one thing troubling him. Overall, he was extremely grateful to Victor. He fully understood that without these preparations, their situation would have been much more difficult. However, there was one issue with the identity Victor had set up for them in this world.

Apparently, Jez and René were supposed to be a couple who had fled to Japan from a conflict zone in Europe.

René T. Wist, 22 years old.  

Jez N. Wist, 26 years old.  

That was their identity in this world.

And so, after René woke up, Jez and she would leave the mountains, board the JR Chuo Line, and head to Kichijoji Station to begin establishing their base of operations in this world.
