When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 102
Episode 102
At first, René seemed confused upon waking up. Upon learning that Jez was calm and that they had already made contact with Victor in their original world, she decided to focus on understanding this world. Initially, she was amazed by the large vehicles called trains, the appearance of the city, various devices, and what seemed like magical tools, such as smartphones. However, this wonder faded quickly. Within two or three days, René adapted smoothly, even without Jez’s explanations or help.
Though she still felt some discomfort that magic and magical tools weren’t a normal part of everyday life, she got used to it quickly. Additionally, although René herself had no way of knowing, the fact that this Earth had dungeons—a sort of mysterious world—meant that the existence of magic and supernatural phenomena was already widely recognized, making her transition even easier.
Moreover, René was a princess who had also served as a commander. She was already used to camping and enduring harsh environments, which helped her adapt. Jez had initially been concerned about René adjusting to the new environment, but it turned out to be needless worry.
Now, René was so well-adjusted that she could go shopping alone at a convenience store and even buy ice cream as a souvenir. Isn’t this princess adapting a bit too well?
On the other hand, René found it strange how Jez had adapted to this world and environment so seamlessly. Even though Victor had explained everything while René was unconscious, wasn’t Jez a bit too familiar with this world? It was as if he had known it all along. Although this feeling of discomfort couldn’t be ignored, Jez didn’t seem inclined to talk about it. Since it wasn’t a pressing issue, René decided to wait and see, thinking he might bring it up casually later.
René and Jez had set up their living base in an apartment slightly away from the south exit of JR Kichijoji Station. While the apartment had the necessary furniture, it wasn’t entirely convenient. Their first priority after arriving in this world was to set up their living environment. Jez took the lead, and they visited Yodobashi and shopped around the Kichijoji area, taking walks in Inokashira Park together in the evenings. They also bought clothes at Uniqlo, both René and Jez being awestruck by the quality and variety.
“The quality of these clothes, at this price, and in such quantities—what kind of logistics does this Uniqlo organization possess?”
Both René and Jez couldn’t help but view Uniqlo from a military perspective. Incidentally, even Uniqlo is considered more of a logistics company than a clothing company. Both in the real world and from a business perspective. So their assessment wasn’t far off.
Their neighbors in the apartment were very welcoming of the young foreign couple. And thanks to their distinctive appearance, René and Jez quickly became minor celebrities in just a few days.
As these days went by, René went grocery shopping with Jez at a nearby supermarket. René dressed casually in a T-shirt and jeans with her hair tied back. Suddenly, she thought, “Wait, isn’t this like being newlyweds?”
This thought caused her to squirm in embarrassment that night, something she kept secret to avoid shattering her image.
Every morning when she woke up, Jez would make coffee, and the two would have breakfast together. During the day, they would take care of various tasks. By evening, they would unwind with a jog together in Inokashira Park. What a graceful life this was!
Born into royalty and having spent her life honing her martial talents and fighting, René never imagined she would experience such a peaceful lifestyle. She couldn’t help but wish that these days would continue forever… That’s how much she had come to enjoy this life.
René acknowledged that life here was more comfortable and pleasant than she had expected. Still, the Kingdom of Tashman, where she was born and raised, was ultimately where she belonged.
One night, after their life had settled down a bit, the two of them relaxed in the living room after dinner. Naturally, their conversation turned to the future.
“So, Jez, we’ve gotten used to life and culture in this world to some extent. But we can’t keep living like this forever, right? What should we do?”
René asked while gazing aimlessly at the screen. They were sitting together on the sofa in the living room, with the TV left on in the background playing the news.
Jez, who had also been absentmindedly watching the TV, murmured, “You’re right.”
“Why don’t we start by registering as explorers? According to Victor, it seems we need to collect something called Dragon Fragments.”
Over the past few days, while organizing their living arrangements, Jez had been researching explorers in this world and the dragon species. From what he had found out, monsters only appeared inside dungeons. Furthermore, in this country, only explorers registered with the Dungeon Bureau were allowed to enter and exit dungeons.
Jez shared this information with René, and the two of them began to solidify their plans for the future.
