When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 114
Episode 114
East of the fortress city of Novalis, the easternmost point of the Tashman Kingdom, in an unexplored area of the world.
In an ancient ruins, the alchemist Victor Alchemis was bound by demons. Despite being in a precarious situation and needing to support Jez and the others, Victor appeared as nonchalant as ever. Although internally he was seriously considering how to handle things, his external demeanor remained unchanged.
Victor’s growing concern stemmed from the fact that the flow of time between his world and the other world was not synchronized. Initially, Victor had not noticed this, but he became aware of this discrepancy after accessing the other world several times. For example, even if only one day had passed in this world, a week might have elapsed in the other world. Conversely, three days might have passed here while only half a day had passed there.
Victor did not yet understand why the flow of time was inconsistent, but it was likely due to the dimensional contact and positional relationship between worlds. Currently, the discrepancy was only a matter of a few days, so it had not had a major impact. But if it continued, there was a possibility of discrepancies extending to years. Additionally, although time in both worlds was currently progressing forward, there was a small chance of time regression. It could lead to a confusing situation. Time regression was risky and often led to unresolved issues, so caution was advised.
Before such a situation occurred, it was necessary to retrieve Jez and Princess René from Earth. Fortunately, they had already made solid contact, delivered the necessary items, and informed them about the Dragon Fragments. It was also a stroke of luck that they had confirmed the presence of technicians in the other world and had made contact with them in a virtual space. While the first contact had unintentionally come off as a bit mocking, it had been successful. Given their technical capabilities, it was likely they would be able to assist in sending Jez and René back to this world.
The presence of foreign elements in their world was not ideal for them either. Thus, Victor, who was surprisingly serious about all this, valued Jez as a friend and was genuinely trying to resolve the situation. Despite being a serious alchemist, he was still bound up.
However, being bound was starting to take a toll on his body. Victor, feeling the pain from the prolonged confinement, fidgeted restlessly. Thankfully, he was allowed to use the restroom and eat for the sake of his dignity. The lack of graphic descriptions of such scenes was appreciated, as the author would prefer to avoid detailing them.
Moving on. Victor, who was still completely bound, managed to interact with the Earth world and even left comments on live streams and sneaked into forums. The answer was simple: his glasses. The seemingly ordinary glasses Victor Alchemis wore were actually a piece of overtechnology far beyond any Vision Pro by a certain apple company.
Victor didn’t even remember how he had created these glasses. He vaguely recalled making them in his workshop while drunk and excited, but he only discovered them with a hangover two days later.
These mysterious glasses allowed Victor to manipulate something like a spatially projected app with his gaze. Even while bound, he could flick with just his fingertips. Thanks to these glasses, Victor could manage various tasks despite his bound state.
On a slightly off-topic note, the Vision Pro by the certain apple company, which was finally set to release on June 28, 2024, had a price that might surprise readers. The author, inspired by the idea for creative work, thought about buying it. After opening the official website and watching the stylish promotional video, the excitement quickly turned to a frown when seeing the price:
599,800 yen.
The author was taken aback. Is there a mistake in the price? Is the apple company going to flop? Is it okay?
…Anyway, back to Victor’s glasses. For now, you can think of their functionality as a complete superior version of the Vision Pro from a certain apple company. No issues there.
The real problem is the price of the Vision Pro and its position as a product. Is it really viable as a business?
Returning to the topic, Victor had succeeded in contacting Jez and the others in another world using his glasses. However, immersing himself in the glasses’ functions made him neglect his real-world body.Â
As a result, he was easily captured by the demons. Once captured, he took advantage of the situation by frequently shifting his consciousness to assist Jez.Â
But it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep shifting his consciousness to the other world. It was exhausting playing tag with angels in the dimensional gaps, and being bound up in the real world was starting to cause significant physical pain.
He considered escaping from his current situation and accessing a safer location, though his curiosity about the demons remained undiminished. He had come all the way to this remote place to make contact with them, and he hadn’t expected to meet them so easily. It nitially raised his excitement.
With a small, determined murmur, he decided to get serious. He easily untied the ropes binding him as if nothing had happened and stood up. He then quietly approached the demons from behind and tapped one on the shoulder.
“Hey, got a minute?”
“!!!!!!!???????”
He spoke with an exceptionally friendly smile. According to the demon later on, they were so surprised they thought their heart might literally jump out of their mouth.
