When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 128
Episode 128
At the Ichigaya Garrison Training Grounds on Earth, René and Misaki, both fully equipped, were engaged in a mock battle while Jez observed from the sidelines. Meanwhile, on the Azelion Continent near the ancient ruins in the uncharted territory east of the Tashman Kingdom, Victor, Erin, Lily, and Lucretia, along with a host of demons, were gathered. Just outside the ruins, the 5th Legion of 3,000 soldiers led by Raja Raj and an army of 50,000 monsters were positioned.
With so many powerful magical beings unintentionally converging in one place, combined with Victor’s accidental activation of the ancient ruins, a dimensional corridor connecting two worlds had finally formed.
Back on Earth, as soon as a dungeon reaction was detected at the Ichigaya Garrison Training Grounds, a first-level alert was issued. Sirens blared throughout the city, and citizens began evacuating.
<Dungeon at Ichigaya!?>
<And it’s an above-ground open type!?>
<This is seriously bad!>
<If you’re nearby, run now!!>
<Misaki, good luck!!>
The exact moment the dungeon appeared at Ichigaya was captured by the official stream of the Dungeon Technology Research Institute. This dungeon was not the usual kind where underground or cave-like areas become otherworldly; instead, it was an open-type dungeon, where monsters directly spill out from a gate onto the surface. Though rare, several instances of this type had been confirmed around the world, all of which had caused immense damage. There were even cases where entire cities had been wiped out.
As viewers watched the live broadcast, they began to notice something even stranger.
<Huh?>
<What’s that?>
<There are people beyond the gate!?>
<No way…>
<Are they fighting on the other side too?>
<Is this really another world!?>
On the other side of the gate, beyond the flood of monsters, another world could be seen. And there, people were fighting amidst the chaos. Even more astonishing was the fact that Jez Wist was speaking with someone on the other side. Apparently, they knew each other.
Over a million viewers across the globe watching the stream began frantically searching to identify the place seen beyond the gate, wondering if it existed somewhere on Earth.
<Wait, wait, wait…>
<No matching area found?>
<Is this really another world?>
<This is a huge event, bigger than the discovery of dungeons!>
Professional explorers, researchers, and government officials were all investigating, but no matching location could be found anywhere on Earth. The possibility that this gate was truly connected to another world began to send waves of excitement across the globe.
However…
“Master!? The magical fields of dungeons across Japan are becoming unstable!?”
“That’s bad… is it because of this gate?”
Alpha, Misaki’s secretary, operated her device and informed Misaki that dungeons all over Japan were behaving abnormally. The moment the gate opened, dungeons across the entire country became hyperactive. And not just in Japan—dungeons worldwide were becoming unstable. While the exact cause was unclear, the timing pointed to the gate in front of them being the culprit.
Somehow, they had to close the gate quickly, or the world could be destroyed. As Misaki cut down the monsters pouring through, he began to formulate a plan.
“Jez!!! Get back here quickly!! We need to close this gate now, or things are going to get really bad!!”
A man in a white coat was shouting from the other side of the dark, long corridor. Though the language was incomprehensible, it was clear that he was calling for Jez. Realizing this, Misaki shouted to Jez, who was fighting nearby.
“Jez! Do you know that person over there!?”
“Yes!! He’s a friend from the world we came from!! He’s saying we need to close the gate fast before it’s too late!!”
Misaki, after hearing Jez’s words, continued to assess the situation while addressing the immediate threats around him.
“Can you explain the situation in more detail!?”
Misaki asked, trying to get a clearer picture. Jez, despite fighting, managed to confirm things with Victor through the dimensional corridor. While Jez handled the communication, René supported him by slaying the surrounding monsters. Meanwhile, Erin and Lilly noticed René’s presence and let out cries of determination.
They had finally found Jez and René. Now, all that was left was to bring them back to their world.
Jez confirmed the situation with Victor and relayed the message to Misaki: Currently, the corridor had connected two worlds, and the result was destabilizing the magical balance in both realms. If left unchecked, both worlds could potentially collapse.
To close the gate, two actions were required: First, René and Jez, who had become dimensional singularities and were considered foreign entities in Earth’s world, needed to be sent back to the Tashman Kingdom’s side. Second, the ancient ruins had to be destroyed. Once these steps were taken, it would likely sever the connection between Earth and the Azelion Continent forever. Without the dimensional singularities, the two worlds wouldn’t be able to observe or influence each other.
With this information, Misaki processed the situation. Despite thinking he would have liked to speak more with the otherworldly engineer named Victor under different circumstances, he accepted the reality. In essence, they had to defeat the overwhelming number of monsters and create a path for René and Jez to return to their world.
“René, Jez, it seems this is where we part ways! I’ll make the path—go now!”
Amidst the chaos of battle, the moment of farewell had arrived. René and Jez prepared themselves to cross the gate and return to their world.
Seeing this, Misaki unleashed all the magical power stored within his body. Magic so concentrated that it became a visible, rainbow-colored wind swirling around him.
“O light of the stars, gather to me across the ages. O weapons of steel, bear your sharpness within my hands. O gears of machines, with infinite potential, begin to turn.”
The magic centered around him began to seep into the world itself, reshaping it according to his will.
“O weavers of fate, manipulate the threads and bring forth miracles. The hopes of the people—this is romance! In its name, I unleash all my power!”
The world began to transform, remade into the shape Misaki desired.
“Link the past and future, transcend the boundaries of different worlds, and unlock all possibilities. Surpass the heavens’ laws, transcend the earth’s principles, and seize control over all existence!”
This was the forbidden magic wielded by the ultra-deep explorers—a unique magic that rewrites the world based on the caster’s internal landscape.
“Now, answer my call and release the light of romance! Unique Magic: Deus Ex Machina!!!!”
(Note: I don’t know if you get it or not. Deus Ex Machina typically refers to how writers make the protagonist escape from impossible situations just for the sake of plot. One of them is to suddenly have a forbidden technique-in this case unique magic- that’s specialized to deal with the situation or even the antagonist itself. Example in Naruto: After spending the last thirty chapters wreaking havoc, Nagato pulls a case of Redemption Equals Death and a device that was only shown to be able to repair corpses to bring back everyone that he had killed since entering the village. Not enough with Naruto’s talk no jutsu, suddenly there’s some jutsu to revive everyone?!)
