When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 141
Episode 141
Second Day of the Royal Academy’s New Student Orientation Camp. Lake Eldoa/Tiris Forest Belt.
Most classes are probably still on their way to the destination. However, Class 1 has already arrived at their target. And—
“Squads 2 and 3, use the wagons to build a defensive line! It’s okay if they get damaged; just set up the positions first! Squad 1, move forward and buy us time! Squad 4, stay alert for threats from directions other than the front! Provide support as skirmishers!”
The sudden monster attack hit them while they were trying to rest at their campsite near the monster appearance area, where they had set up barriers. After a grueling 24-hour march, they were immediately engaged in battle with monsters without any rest. Was this too much for students? The 1st Legion’s hundred-man unit was ready to provide support and observed from a distance. They prepared to step in if needed.
Thanks to Erin’s swift command and the efforts of Class 1, the front line did not collapse, and there has been no significant damage to the students so far. Although the 1st Legion had heard that Class 1 was exceptional, they were surprised at how well the students performed. They decided to focus on ensuring the safety of the surroundings without taking away the students’ opportunity to grow.
Seeing that the 1st Legion would handle the surrounding areas and civilians, Erin and the others concentrated on the monster swarm in front of them. In the initial chaos of the monster attack, Squad 1 managed to buy time by moving forward and hunting monsters.
Squad 1, led by Erin Saylor and her faction, demonstrated exceptional skills for their age. At just 16, Erin, hailed as one of the best talents in the capital, showed impressive prowess in battle. Her faction also exhibited strong abilities.
While Squad 1 bought time, Squads 2 and 3 quickly set up a defensive line using the four military wagons and earth magic. They created double trenches and filled the gaps between the wagons with walls made of earth magic. They also placed stakes in the trenches to hinder the monsters’ movements.
Squad 2, led by Miriam, primarily consisted of magicians, while Squad 3, led by Kailan Matra, had many from the eastern and southern regions. They knew how to build effective defenses and conduct a defensive battle.
With everyone effectively utilizing their strengths, the defensive position was solidifying. Squad 4, led by Jez, was moving as skirmishers and observing the situation.
“At this age, this is genuinely impressive.”
“Yes, I had heard about the greatness of Tashman Kingdom, but I didn’t expect them to be this good right from the start.”
Jez and Seraphina continued to scout for monsters coming from directions other than the front while also thinning out the monsters.
Squad 4 consisted mainly of people from the northern regions and exchange students, including Linnea Haugen, Ida Niemi, and Ole Halvorsen, who were accompanying Jez.

Fifteen minutes had already passed since the monster attack began. While such attacks might be expected at the kingdom’s frontlines, it was unusual for monsters to attack intermittently in this location for such a long time. Furthermore, the number of monsters seemed to be increasing rather than decreasing.
The 1st Squad had already fallen back to the defensive line. In their place, Squad 3 moved forward to deal with the enemies while the remaining members provided support.
Though the students hadn’t suffered major injuries, the pace at which monsters were attacking would soon exhaust healing magic and potions. While physical stamina was still good, it was only a matter of time.
The situation seemed suspicious. As they investigated, Miriam and Seraphina quickly realized there was an anomaly with the barriers. It appeared that the barrier, originally meant to repel monsters, had been altered by someone to attract them instead.
The spell was extremely precise and complex. Who could have performed such a wasteful misuse of skill?
“…So, Victor, do you have any explanation?”
Miriam, having noticed the anomaly, immediately captured Victor. He was helping transport supplies within the defensive area. With the help of Squad 2, they restrained him.
Normally, restraining magic would be used for criminals. But given the high likelihood that magic wouldn’t work on this genius, they chose physical means instead.
While everyone was dealing with the monsters, Jez and Seraphina watched Victor with disbelief from beside Miriam.
“…Um, Miriam? Isn’t this a bit harsh without any evidence? And besides, my family is a marquis family, remember? Your family is a baron family, isn’t it?”
Victor, with a smirk on his face, used his family’s power as a threat in a worst-case scenario. Jez and Seraphina silently gave him a look of “This is too much” as they watched him.
Miriam silently took a letter out from her chest. It bore the crest of the Alchemis family.
“Victor, this request is from your mother. She said that if her son did something foolish, we should deal with it without hesitation.”
As soon as Victor heard those words, the smirk vanished from his face. It was replaced by a waterfall of sweat. Miriam, noticing his change, waved the letter triumphantly and grinned.
“Although Victor and I are childhood friends, we haven’t had many chances to meet, have we? You were often away from the capital. But your father, mother, and sister have been very kind to me. So, I want to return the favor.”
With a cheerful smile, Miriam put the letter away and added:
“So, let’s reflect on this, shall we?”
Activating her body enhancement magic, Miriam grabbed the rope binding Victor and began dragging him toward the front lines.
