When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 160
Episode 160
On the second day of their cruise on the luxurious ship Queen Amentis III, Jez and the others continued to enjoy a smooth voyage down the Salal River. The welcome party held the previous night had concluded without incident, and they went to bed relatively early. On a ship trip, there’s surprisingly little to do at night, so everyone tends to go to sleep early.
Jez and Victor, who shared a room, had somehow ended up discussing political systems. Though neither of them could remember how it started. The conversation veered into topics like absolute monarchy, parliamentary democracy, and civilian control. Perhaps because of Seraphina’s earlier discussion, Jez’s thoughts had shifted toward political systems.
Victor was particularly shocked by the concept of “civilian control,” a notion that was new to him in the context of the absolute monarchy of the Tashman Kingdom. His reaction to hearing the term and its concept was one of genuine surprise, unlike anything Jez had seen before.
Since entering the academy, Victor had viewed Jez as a friend on equal footing due to his exceptional talents. However, after this period, he began to take a serious interest in Jez not only as a friend but also as a subject of observation. This keen observation led Victor to notice the unusual patterns of mana around Jez, which would later contribute to numerous discoveries and inventions.
Unaware of the significance of their conversation, Jez lay on his bed. He casually shared what would become crucial knowledge for Victor’s future breakthroughs. Little did Jez anticipate that such casual discussions during their trip would eventually lead to the development of conceptual armaments, pseudo-divine artifacts, and even the recognition of otherworldly entities in the next decade.
Meanwhile, in the girls’ room, Erin, Miriam, and Seraphina naturally discussed the antics of the two boys. Each new revelation about the boys’ foolish behavior had Seraphina laughing uncontrollably and exclaiming, “Oh boys!” At one point, Erin seriously advised Miriam, “What’s so great about Victor? I wouldn’t recommend doing that.”
Miriam, however, let slip a potentially fatal remark, saying, “He can’t do without me.” It was a particularly revealing comment in their girls’ talk. Seeing this, Seraphina laughed even harder, but the details remained a secret among the girls.
The next morning. On the second day of their voyage, Jez and the others had breakfast in the buffet-style dining room before heading to the ship’s gym for a light workout. The gym was quite bustling, reflecting the Tashman Kingdom’s strong emphasis on physical activity.
After changing in the pool deck’s changing rooms, Jez and Victor quickly secured a spot with parasols, tables, and benches by the poolside and ordered drinks and light snacks from a waiter.
As they were preparing, Seraphina appeared with Erin and Miriam. Under the bright summer sky, Seraphina struck a dramatic pose with her hands on her hips, while Erin and Miriam looked somewhat shy. The three had changed from their evening dresses to swimwear: Erin wore a soft pastel blue, Miriam a vibrant crimson, and Seraphina an alluring black bikini.
Victor was initially taken aback by Seraphina’s confident stance. He then stared at Miriam for a while before starting to clap silently. It was unclear whether he fully understood the situation.
Jez, maintaining his usual warm demeanor, complimented them,
“Everyone looks great. Erin, you really suit the blue. Seraphina, the white dress was nice, but the black bikini gives you a devilish charm that suits you as well.”
Erin and Seraphina were pleased with the compliments, but they couldn’t help but think, “Is he just used to this?” The well-practiced flattery made them suspicious of his sincerity. Noticing their doubts, Jez scratched his head awkwardly and said,
“Well, you both really do look cute, so just accept it.”
With a slightly flushed face, Jez struck a surrender pose. Satisfied by his somewhat embarrassed demeanor, Erin and Seraphina relaxed and enjoyed their time by the poolside. Meanwhile, Victor, who had stared at Miriam a bit too intently, was lightly tapped on the head by her in embarrassment.
After enjoying about two hours of swimming on the pool deck, the group decided to have lunch there and continued to relax.
At one point, Jez idly muttered, “I’d like to play beach volleyball,” but it was clear that setting up a game on the deck would be difficult. Considering the group, it was probably for the best. It was hard to imagine a safe outcome with them playing volleyball.
Victor was floating around the pool on an inflatable ring and suddenly asked,
“Jez, can you walk on water?”
“Hmm? Well, I guess I could,”
Jez replied in a nonchalant tone, also floating on an inflatable ring.
Seraphina, lying on a poolside lounge chair, encouraged him with “I’d like to see. I’d like to see!”
“Jez, don’t push yourself too hard.”
However, Erin chimed in with a smiling warning.
During the second day of their cruise, they were truly enjoying their summer vacation.
