It was three days after Jez had returned to the northern core city of Foresval with Gerald.

By then, Victor had completed the repairs and minor modifications to the Mandjet/Mesektet. The new hundred-man squads of Ida and Ole, newly incorporated into the 11th Legion, were making good progress with their training. The Al-Faz unit, led by Jamil, had also advanced significantly in their proficiency with the magical bikes. They were approaching a point where they could fully utilize their capabilities.

The members of the 2nd Legion who had assisted with the unconventional training were deeply appreciated. The thought of facing a battle without this training was almost terrifying.

As the 11th Legion and René began considering heading to Nevorista, given the progress of preparations in the capital and the schedule, Jez and Gerald returned to Foresval.

“I’m back! We’ve returned!”

Gerald’s voice echoed through the Norman family’s main residence in Foresval. Hearing this, Felicia, Erin, and the household staff went to greet them in the entrance hall.

“Jez is back…?”

Erin and the others, who had eagerly gone to welcome Jez after a few days, were momentarily at a loss for words upon seeing the intimidating presence of the two rugged men standing in the entrance.

Usually, Jez was known for wearing his official uniform neatly and paying close attention to cleanliness. At first glance, he seemed like a bureaucrat. Without movement, it would be hard to imagine him achieving numerous victories on the front lines. His demeanor and appearance were relatively mild; in short, he always kept himself well-presented, a trait unchanged since his student days.

However, today, Jez appeared in front of Erin and the others shirtless, wearing only military training pants and rugged boots. Covered in sweat, blood, and mud, his eyes were bloodshot. Steam seemed to rise from his well-defined abs and bulging biceps. His hair was messily gathered and pushed up, making him almost unrecognizable. Standing alongside Gerald, he looked like he had come from some remote wilderness.

Erin, René, Lilly, and Jamil, who were unfamiliar with Jez’s life in the north, were unable to hide their surprise at the stark contrast to his usual self. While Felicia and the staff remained unfazed as if this was normal.

“You two should hurry up and take a shower.”

Felicia spoke as if nothing unusual had happened, clearly conveying that this was the norm in their household.

“We’ll take care of the bear and boar lying over there. Should we use them for dinner right away?”

Outside the entrance were the carcasses of numerous magical beasts. The staff, seemingly accustomed to this, immediately began transporting the large bear and boar-like magical creatures Gerald and Jez had apparently brought back to the butchering room. The familiarity with which they handled it suggested that this was normal in this place.

“This… is amazing,” 

Jamil muttered in astonishment, and everyone quietly nodded in agreement.

The following day, with departure preparations complete, Jez and the others began boarding the Mandjet/Mesektet in the wilderness near Foresval. They were ready to head to the capital, Nevorista.

The units led by each hundred-man captain boarded the ship in an orderly fashion, and supplies were being loaded onto it.

As this was happening, Jez exchanged farewells with Gerald, Felicia, and the members of the 2nd Legion.

“Father, thank you for everything this time.”

“Really, I’ve told you before, haven’t I? There’s no need to be so formal. You can rely on us anytime. This is your home, and we are family.”

Seeing Gerald’s hearty smile made Jez slightly embarrassed, but he exchanged a warm embrace with his father-in-law.

“Just as I said before, be careful not to overuse the tools. That’s not where your strengths lie.”

“Yes, I’ll be careful.”

He also exchanged hugs with Felicia, who had come to see him off.

“Take care of yourself and stay healthy.”

“You too, Mother.”

Felicia also asked Jez to send her regards to Luca and Lucia in the capital if he had the time.
