When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 198
Episode 198Â Â
The civil servant soared through the sky Â
From the gigantic alabaster airship floating in the sky, he was launched. He endured the catapult’s force with a strong body-enhancement spell and the strength of his core. Â
The key to surviving a catapult launch is to focus your energy on your core, tensing up and utilizing both your muscles and body-enhancement magic to their fullest. It’s even better if you can control down to your feet. Otherwise, the force will make you bend backward awkwardly like a shrimp, and you won’t look too graceful. For anyone planning to use a catapult, take heed. Â
Jez, having launched from the Skybound Ark – Mandjet/Mesektet in perfect form, now plummeted toward the ground at a tremendous speed. Â
He felt the resistance of the air on his body. The fierce wind roared in his ears. The sound of war cries from below gradually grew louder as the ground drew closer. The earth rushed up toward him. Â
Jez, now a streaking meteor, channeled all that kinetic energy into his right fist. Â
It seemed that some sharp-eyed individuals on the ground had noticed the human descending from the sky and the enormous object floating above, causing a commotion. Â
Unperturbed by any of this, Jez skillfully adjusted his trajectory in mid-air. He aimed directly for the front lines where the vanguard forces of the Calidius faction and the Lorentzi faction were about to collide. Â
Now, to reiterate, Jez and the rest of the Tashman Kingdom were here in the Divina Papal State due to Seraphina’s request for reinforcements. However, supporting Seraphina Lorentzi who lacked legitimacy could be diplomatically inconvenient. Â
Therefore, they decided to first attempt to mediate a ceasefire. If attacked, they would intervene in the civil war under the guise of self-defense. That was the plan agreed upon within the Tashman Kingdom. Â
If, by some chance, both sides agreed to come to the negotiating table, that would be fine. The mission of the 11th Legion would be complete, and formal mediation would be handled by the Second Prince, Levius Tashman. Â
But what if the envoy seeking to mediate the ceasefire were attacked? Naturally, they would have no choice but to retaliate. Â
Given these circumstances, Jez needed to call for a ceasefire between the two armies. However, it wouldn’t look good if it was perceived that the Tashman Kingdom was merely going through the motions to side with the Lorentzi faction. So it was necessary to create an undeniable, visible fact in front of a large crowd. Â
Hence, the skydiving. Â
As the ground loomed ever closer, and just as the vanguards of both armies were about to clash, Jez adjusted his posture mid-air and swung his right fist with all his might. Â
Sonic Fist.
With the thrust from the catapult, the energy from freefall, his body-enhancement magic, and his well-trained muscles, Jez’s punch surpassed the speed of sound. Â
However, in a precise show of control, he held back just enough to avoid breaking the sound barrier directly. He instead propelled the air toward the ground with his fist. Â
A physical wall of compressed air shot toward the ground, unleashed by Jez’s punch. Â
When it hit the earth, the ground split open with a deafening roar. Cracks spread out, and the surface caved in. Soldiers nearby were blown away by the shockwave. Stones and rubble flew through the air, and a cloud of dust rose up. Â
Thanks to the tremendous deceleration from the sonic punch’s recoil, Jez safely descended to the ground. Â
For a while, both armies were too shocked to continue fighting. All 20,000 soldiers stared at the impact point. Â
As the dust cloud cleared, standing at the center of the crater was a man dressed in formal attire. Â
“I am Jez Norman, head of the Tashman Kingdom’s diplomatic envoy. Sheathe your swords, both sides. I am here to mediate a ceasefire.” Â
The sheer absurdity of the situation left all the soldiers and commanders from both sides in stunned silence. They had thought it was a meteor, or perhaps a monster, or some kind of natural disaster. But no—it was a diplomat. Â
A diplomat?! Â
Watching this surreal scene from a short distance, Seraphina Lorentzi—now Seraphina XIII—was trembling, her face turning bright red, tears forming in her eyes. Â
…She was trying to hold back her laughter. Â
How was Jez already here when he was supposed to still be in the Tashman Kingdom? They had expected him to take at least a few more months. And why in the world was he descending from the sky?! Not to mention, seriously calling himself a diplomatic envoy? There was no way he ever intended to conduct real diplomacy from the start! Â
The last time Seraphina had seen Jez was four years ago, when he came to the kingdom because of the Lucretia incident. And now, after all this time, this was how they reunited? Â
The fact that Jez had arrived, that the reinforcements from Tashman Kingdom had made it in time, and his completely bizarre entrance made it impossible for Seraphina to contain herself. The tension that had built up inside her snapped, and she was on the verge of bursting into laughter.
However, her current position came with responsibilities. The role of Seraphina XIII was to unite many citizens, soldiers, and believers. She had decided to dedicate her life to fulfilling this role.
If that’s the case, now was not the time to laugh. …Besides, She could mess with Jez later.
Shifting her mindset, Seraphina gave instructions to the entire army. Her white cape fluttered, and she stood tall, embodying the very image of the strong pope that everyone imagined.
“Calm down!!! As you heard, this is an envoy from the Kingdom of Tashman!! Stand down for now!!”
Hearing Seraphina’s command, the soldiers of the Lorentzi faction snapped out of their daze and orderly withdrew. Similarly, the soldiers of the Calidius faction, although still confused, began to regroup.
Then, cutting through the tension, someone emerged.
“My name is Lucius Agrippa. I am the leader of the Holy Levia Knights and Archbishop. You must be Jez Norman from the Kingdom of Tashman, correct?”
Approaching the official standing by the crater was a robust, imposing man. He was the Archbishop leading the ten thousand strong Holy Levia Knights, one of the Calidius faction’s greatest forces.
The sudden appearance of the enemy general caught Jez off guard, as things had been progressing more smoothly than expected. A little surprised, he responded:
“That’s right. I am Jez Norman from the Kingdom of Tashman. I’ve come to mediate your country’s civil war.”
Hearing those words, Lucius Agrippa gave a large nod and then shouted:
“All forces!! The man before us is the enemy of God, Jez Norman!! Seize him!! Kill him if you must!!!”
Without a moment of hesitation, Lucius gave the order.
