When I was working as a civil servant, I was found out to be a muscle-brained knight by the princess knight and got sent to the front lines - Episode 212
Episode 212
Two days after the battle on the plains near the ancient city of Paradis, the joint operation between the Lorentzi faction and the 11th Legion began promptly.
The main force of the 11th Legion, led by Jamil Alfaz, launched from the ancient city of Paradis aboard the Skybound Ark – Mandjet/Mesektet. Following them, the Lorentzi faction’s Holy Lucius Knights, 5,000 strong, also set out from Paradis. The remaining 5,000 were left behind to defend the base.
Several days later, Jamil and the 11th Legion began liberating small to medium-sized cities that had been occupied by the Calidius faction with overwhelming speed. The Calidius forces in these cities were literally overrun by the sudden appearance of Tashman soldiers descending from the skies. At their peak, Jamil’s forces were taking down one city in the morning and then another in the afternoon—a feat that astonished many. While often overshadowed by figures like Jez Norman and Victor Alchemis, Jamil Al-Faz was undoubtedly a military genius.
In particular, Jamil’s brilliance was beginning to shine in operations involving “mobility.” Originally distinguished as a cavalry commander, Jamil had effortlessly commanded over 1,000 troops during the Southern Uprising. Considering this, it was a reasonable outcome that Jamil thrived in commanding the fast-moving strategic weapon Mandjet/Mesektet, possibly even more suited to it than Jez or Victor.
While Victor might be the ideal choice to use the ship effectively at a tactical level, Jamil excelled in handling it strategically. Even strategists like Cynthia and Linnea held this view. Separately from any tactical or strategic concerns, if the ship were to be taken down, Jez Norman would likely be the best person for the job despite being a civil servant. It’s a strange statement to write, but there it is.
Despite Jamil and his forces swiftly conquering cities with their overwhelming mobility and power, they didn’t have enough personnel to stay and govern each city after its capture. Therefore, the 11th Legion’s strategy was to launch a rapid airborne assault, beat the enemy forces without killing them, destroy key city gates and defensive installations, and then move on to the next city.
This was like a nomadic cavalry force rampaging at will. It was an unbearable situation for the Calidius faction of the Divina Papal State. After Jamil’s forces neutralized the cities, the Lorentzi faction’s Holy Lucius Knights would follow and fully secure control of them.
Because of this series of actions by the 11th Legion, the cities under Calidius control were left in fear. The feared and renowned Tashman Kingdom army, already famed for its strength, was now launching unexpected aerial assaults on cities that were relatively undefended from above. For small to medium-sized cities that couldn’t prepare defensive barriers, it was like a natural disaster. The Calidius-controlled cities were being ravaged one after another.
However, these city capture operations were merely a diversion for the Lorentzi faction and the 11th Legion. The real objective was to prepare the way for Seraphina Lorenzi, Lucretia Alma, Edelmar Solennis, Jez Norman, and Victor Alchemis to infiltrate the well-defended Holy City of Sancturia.
As part of this plan, Ole Halvorsen was to act as a body double for Jez Norman within the 11th Legion. Ole and Jez were both the same age, from the northern region, and their hair color and physique were very similar. It made Ole a natural fit for the role.
They had known each other since before enrolling in the Royal Academy and had fought side by side during the Northern Campaign, so Ole already had a good understanding of Jez’s mannerisms. Jez Norman’s face was largely unknown within the Divina Papal State, making Ole an ideal stand-in.
When Jez handed Ole a spare official uniform, Ole slipped into it with a wry smile and joined the series of city capture operations. Normally, Ole was the calm type, often the one to mediate between Ida Niemi and Linnea Haugen when necessary.
“I, Jez Norman, declare: Cease your futile resistance and surrender. We will not take your lives. However, if this warning is not heeded, we will take appropriate measures.”
During each city capture, Ole, claiming to be Jez, would launch solo from the Skybound Ark – Mandjet/Mesektet. He would land in front of the city’s largest gate, standing tall without any weapon, letting the hem of his uniform flutter as he called for the enemy’s surrender. After brief negotiations with the city’s representatives, if they refused to comply and attacked Ole, he would elegantly dodge all incoming attacks. Then, he would catch a large spear that was sent flying to him from above and begin his counterattack.
Clad in his official uniform, Ole would strike the tightly closed city gates with the spear and destroy them in a single blow.
“If you suddenly attack like that, it’s dangerous, isn’t it?”
He said that—just the kind of thing Jez might say—as he easily infiltrated the city. Then, in perfect timing, the 11th Legion would descend from the sky, rapidly taking control of the city.
“I can’t really replace Jez, but I’ll do my best within my limits,” Ole had said with slight embarrassment when the decision was made for him to act as Jez’s double. But in truth, it was no issue at all. Ole himself was more than capable, a force to be reckoned with.
Ole Halvorsen—despite everything—was clearly enjoying the situation with enthusiasm. Watching him from above, Cynthia Clark and the other central members of the army muttered, trembling with fear,
“Do all northerners turn into that when they put on an official uniform?”
