- Chapter 41 - Does My Sister Have Feelings for You?
Qin Zhi gently placed Sheng Mingluo on the sofa.
She poured a glass of warm water for her. Seeing Sheng Mingluo’s listless state, Qin Zhi gripped the rim of the glass, leaned down, and pressed the transparent glass against her red lips.
“Open your mouth… slowly.”
The water was warm, but it felt like scalding fire against Qin Zhi’s fingertips.
Watching Sheng Mingluo’s lips sip the water, taking small sips and swallowing slowly, Qin Zhi waited until she had drunk about half the glass before setting it down with a crisp clink that echoed through the living room.
“Thank you… Teacher Qin.”
Sheng Mingluo reached down to touch her smooth ankle. Wearing high heels for so long had rubbed her heels raw. Her fingers pressed against the shoe, trying to slip it off.
But she was still dizzy, and her dress obscured most of her view. Her vision blurred, even the coffee table in front of her seemed to waver with double images. After fumbling for a while, she still couldn’t manage to remove her shoes.
“You’re hopeless.”
People who are drunk can’t do anything right.
Qin Zhi simply crouched down, placed one hand on Sheng Mingluo’s ankle to gently lift her leg, and carefully removed the high heel. She repeated the process with the other shoe.
Finally, both feet rested on the soft rug.
“Slippers… Teacher Qin, could you get them for me?”
Well, well, she’s ordering me around now? Qin Zhi glanced at her helplessly but ultimately turned to the entryway to retrieve her slippers.
“I’ll just put them on for you.”
Let’s just say she was being kind-hearted. With Qin Zhi’s help, Sheng Mingluo’s slightly chilly feet were soon tucked into the cotton slippers.
But the faint scent of alcohol still lingered around her, a sensation Sheng Mingluo disliked intensely. She desperately wanted to take a shower.
Yet showering alone while drunk was too dangerous.
“Later… Teacher Qin, could you stand guard outside the bathroom while I shower? Just for a little while. Once I’m done, you can go home.”
In the past, when Sheng Mingluo got drunk, her assistant would drive her home and wait outside the bathroom. If no one was available, she’d have to wait until morning to shower.
Friendly reminder from the System: Please follow the plot! At this point, you should be tenderly urging your CP to stay the night!
Failure to comply will result in point deductions!
…Could you keep it down? My ears are about to explode.
The System always pops up at moments like this. Sheng Mingluo wondered if it secretly kept track of how many times they’d slept together.
The System’s sudden outburst jolted her muddled thoughts into sharper focus.
Looking up at the woman standing before her, Sheng Mingluo saw the living room light catch in her hair, each strand distinct, her dark tresses shimmering like a sea dyed brown.
“Teacher Qin… if you’d like, you can stay the night.”
Leaning back against the soft leather sofa, Sheng Mingluo finally relented, resigning herself to fate. Whatever happens, happens, she thought. It’s not like I haven’t shared a bed with this ice queen before.
Watching Qin Zhi’s seductive gaze—her eyes clear yet sharp as hooks—the words Qin Zhi had intended to say caught in her throat, refusing to come out.
“Just so you know, I don’t have a guest room. You’ll have to squeeze into my bed.”
Sheng Mingluo was even learning to play this game now. She watched Qin Zhi with amusement, sensing a flicker of panic beneath her composed facade.
“Fine. It’s not like we haven’t slept together before,” Qin Zhi retorted, her tone defiant, like a child refusing to back down. We’re both adults here. If something happens, it’ll be consensual.
The sound of running water echoed from the bathroom as Qin Zhi surveyed Sheng Mingluo’s apartment. The space felt cramped to her.
She was acutely sensitive to Qin Li’s scent, the faint fragrance of his cologne drifting into her nostrils. Qin Zhi couldn’t help but wonder what Qin Li had said to Sheng Mingluo.
Their relationship had been strained since childhood, never showing any signs of easing.
It wasn’t until Sheng Mingluo emerged from the shower, towel-drying her dripping hair and carefully rubbing the ends, that Qin Zhi finally spoke.
“Does my sister… have feelings for you?”
Qin Li had many romantic interests and often brought them home, but Miss Yin was the one she kept around most frequently.
Qin Zhi loathed this behavior and deliberately avoided the pair whenever possible.
Back in high school, during Qin Li’s university internship, she had already started helping out at the company. Since their elite school dismissed early, Qin Li would often pick Qin Zhi up on her way home.
The passenger seat of Qin Li’s car was frequently occupied by other women. Each time, Qin Zhi would shove her white earbuds into her ears and crank the volume to drown out the flirtatious chatter she didn’t want to hear.
She despised her sister’s frivolousness.
With Sheng Mingluo’s striking beauty, Qin Li might well develop an interest in her. Qin Zhi spoke without realizing her own jealousy was seeping through. If she truly didn’t care, she wouldn’t have asked the question.
The room fell silent. Sheng Mingluo froze, stunned by Qin Zhi’s words, unsure how to react or what to say.
Should I tell her her worries are unfounded?
Still, it was true that Qin Li didn’t seem to approve of their relationship.
Could this be what Big Shot Qin is worried about?
“If she makes any demands of you, don’t agree.”
After saying this, Qin Zhi seemed to feel it wasn’t enough and added, “If she offers you anything, I’ll double it.”
“Money isn’t the issue. Just don’t agree to her demands.”
This made Sheng Mingluo laugh.
Damn it, you wealthy capitalists are truly… enviable.
“Teacher Qin, are you trying to bribe me with money?”
“Do you really think I’m that kind of person?”
Sheng Mingluo stepped closer, her eyes sparkling with amusement as she leaned against the sofa. She seemed to be deliberately teasing Qin Zhi.
“President Qin told me—5 million.”
Nonsense. Who in the real or virtual world would turn down money?
Still, Sheng Mingluo was just saying it casually, not expecting Qin Zhi to take her seriously. She thought Qin Zhi looked a bit like a child jealous of their older sister.
To her surprise, Qin Zhi rummaged through her handbag and handed Sheng Mingluo a bank card.
Sheng Mingluo froze, stunned that her casual remark had been taken so seriously.
Qin Zhi’s expression remained earnest and solemn as she held the sleek, black card between her fingertips and extended it further.
“Just let me know when you’ve spent it all. There should be plenty of money in there.”
The card actually contained her annual share of the family’s dividends. Qin Zhi had never bothered to check the balance, nor had she ever used it; her salary card was more than sufficient for her needs.
Wait, she’s actually serious about this?
This is too good to be true. I’d be a fool to refuse.
Sheng Mingluo figured that since Qin Zhi slept with her every day, taking a little compensation for her “hard work” was only fair.
She accepted the bank card.
Seeing her do so, Qin Zhi felt a wave of relief wash over her. The anxiety that had been gnawing at her gradually subsided.
