When the Scumbag A Got the Dog-Licking Script - Chapter 3
Yu Jinzhao couldn’t see clearly through the crack in the door, but she had a strong feeling that Pei Daowan had been mistreated before she woke up. After all, as one of the mistresses of the house, she hadn’t even been allowed inside and was forced to stand outside.
Coupled with the System’s earlier remarks, Yu Jinzhao’s dissatisfaction with Yu Xincheng reached its peak.
“May I come in?”
This was the first time Yu Jinzhao had heard Pei Daowan speak. Her voice wasn’t as soft as she had imagined; instead, it carried a natural coldness, yet the lingering notes seemed to hold a subtle hook, unconsciously tugging at Yu Jinzhao’s heart.
Yu Xincheng snorted coldly, maintaining his aloof demeanor, and didn’t respond to Pei Daowan.
Yu Jinzhao didn’t want Pei Daowan to get involved. She struggled to get out of bed, intending to take Pei Daowan away from this place and out of Yu Xincheng’s sight.
The Butler panicked when he saw Yu Jinzhao trying to get up. “Miss, you mustn’t! You violated the rules by using the forbidden drug this time, which has severely damaged your glands. If you don’t rest properly, you’ll suffer lasting consequences.”
Yu Jinzhao frowned. Although she now understood what glands were, wasn’t Pei Daowan the one who had been drugged?
Why aren’t they checking on Pei Daowan? Why are they crowding around me? The Yu Family is truly outrageous.
The System gasped inwardly, realizing it had forgotten that it had exaggerated the effects of the drug on Yu Jinzhao earlier. It hadn’t mentioned that the Host had only suffered minor consequences, with the majority of the drug affecting Yu Jinzhao.
The System timidly glanced at Pei Daowan, who nodded imperceptibly, signaling it could proceed.
The System hastily projected its voice into Yu Jinzhao’s mind: “Um, there was a slight mishap. When the original owner tried to drug the female lead, her fierce resistance caused some of the drug to end up in your system. That’s why your glands are acting up.”
Yu Jinzhao froze for a moment, but quickly dismissed it. Glands or no glands, it didn’t matter. She hadn’t forgotten that only by helping Pei Daowan fulfill her deepest desires could she return to her original world.
Seeing Yu Jinzhao’s indifference to her glandular issues, the System urgently pressed: “Don’t clash with Yu Xincheng yet. After all, he’s your nominal father now, and everything you have comes from him. He might not trouble you directly, but he’ll definitely make things difficult for the female lead.”
Yu Jinzhao’s expression darkened, clearly repulsed by the fact that Yu Xincheng was her father. However, considering he might make things difficult for Pei Daowan, she unconsciously softened her tone.
“This has nothing to do with Pei Daowan. It was my own stubbornness—I insisted on using the forbidden medicine. I’ll be more careful next time.”
Pei Daowan hadn’t expected Yu Jinzhao to say this. She could clearly hear the System’s conversation with her, and her only intention had been to shut Yu Jinzhao up. Now that she had returned to this point in time, she lacked any real power and needed to bide her time.
She didn’t want Yu Jinzhao to bring her trouble, exposing her to Yu Xincheng’s scrutiny so early. After all, a significant portion of her struggles in her previous life had stemmed from Yu Xincheng.
While Yu Jinzhao might be foolish and malicious, Yu Xincheng was different. He was a cunning old fox with a millennium of experience, capable of endless schemes and underhanded tactics.
“No! It’s my fault for not taking better care of Jinzhao.”
Pei Daowan was wearing a beige shawl over a black dress today. Though the outfit was slightly warmer than what she had worn the other day, Yu Jinzhao inexplicably felt that she was terribly cold.
The clothes were somewhat loose, and her figure was remarkably slender, further convincing Yu Jinzhao that Pei Daowan had endured considerable hardship before waking up.
After all, Yu Xincheng’s demeanor and words dripped with disdain for Omegas and the arrogance of an Alpha.
Yu Jinzhao took a deep breath, suppressing her inner turmoil, and offered Pei Daowan a gentle smile. “It’s not your fault. You’ve done nothing wrong.”
At these words, Pei Daowan’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and her brows finally lifted a fraction. She glanced tentatively at Yu Jinzhao before quickly averting her gaze.
Only then did Yu Jinzhao notice the faint redness around the corners of her eyes and the unnatural flush on her cheeks. Despite her usually cool demeanor, she now appeared as fragile and ethereal as a cicada’s wing.
This heartrending expression on Pei Daowan’s face made her seem particularly pitiful, both vulnerable and innocent.
But Yu Jinzhao quickly averted her eyes. She suddenly realized that her earlier gaze had been too scrutinizing, bordering on disrespectful.
“I’m tired and want to rest for a while. Pei… Daowan can stay and take care of me.”
The name “Daowan” seemed to burn her tongue, causing Yu Jinzhao to pronounce it quickly. If one weren’t listening carefully, they might not even realize it was a doubled name.
Yu Jinzhao’s face flushed with embarrassment. She didn’t dare look at Pei Daowan’s expression. Calling her by her full name felt too stiff and distant, while “Daowan” felt awkward. She had no choice but to force herself to call her “Daowan.”
In truth, Yu Jinzhao was deeply embarrassed. She had always believed that doubled names were reserved for the most intimate relationships, and she rarely used them herself. She could only keep reassuring herself that they were legally married, even if the original owner had forced the marriage through underhanded means.
As a person with a strong sense of responsibility, she couldn’t remain indifferent now that she had taken on the role of Pei Daowan’s partner. She had to do something.
Yu Xincheng expressionlessly glanced at the two women, tacitly permitting Yu Jinzhao’s occasional disobedience. After all, he understood his daughter’s true nature. She could be ruthless and cunning in public, but in his presence, she was always as docile as a dog. He tolerated her occasional indulgences, knowing they were harmless.
“Perfect timing. You haven’t taken your honeymoon leave yet. Combine that with your recovery, and I’ll give you half a month off. You don’t need to go to the company.”
“Alright, I understand.”
Yu Jinzhao didn’t argue, simply agreeing with his words. As a newcomer, she knew nothing about this world. Everything she knew came from the System, and she had no idea what “working” even entailed. Not going was probably for the best.
Hearing Yu Jinzhao’s compliance, Yu Xincheng let out a cold snort and turned to leave, his ornate cane tapping sharply against the floor. At that moment, he looked less like an upper-class gentleman and more like an impotent middle-aged man, frustrated and losing his composure.
The Butler shot Yu Jinzhao a disapproving look. “Miss, everything the Master does is for your own good. Please don’t upset him over some Omega. After all, you’re his only Alpha. He’s doing all this for you.”
This time, Yu Jinzhao didn’t get angry. She only felt pity. With a “father” like this and a Butler who couldn’t distinguish right from wrong, it was no wonder the original owner had committed so many heinous acts.
As the others followed Yu Xincheng out, only the two women remained in the room, the atmosphere suddenly awkward.
“You…” Yu Jinzhao began, but Pei Daowan turned and closed the door before she could finish, it was unclear if she had even heard what Yu Jinzhao was about to say.
After everyone had left, Pei Daowan stared at Yu Jinzhao with an expressionless gaze. Perhaps because she was standing, Yu Jinzhao felt an inexplicable sense of pressure, making her slightly uneasy.
“How do you want me to take care of you?” Pei Daowan finally spoke, startling Yu Jinzhao. Maybe she shouldn’t have said anything at all.
Flustered, Yu Jinzhao stammered an apology, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. I just…”
Meeting Pei Daowan’s gaze, Yu Jinzhao unconsciously swallowed. Strange. I’ve weathered far worse storms before. During my startup days, I negotiated with seasoned foxes who never made me feel this pressured. Why is the female lead’s presence so overwhelming?
She didn’t dwell on it. After all, the System had assured her that she would ultimately reach the pinnacle of success, even if the path was winding. Perhaps this is just the female lead’s inherent aura.
Yu Jinzhao took a deep breath and turned to look at her.
“I was just trying to get rid of him, to make him leave quickly. I didn’t actually mean for you to take care of me.”
Yu Jinzhao didn’t use the word “father,” and she wasn’t sure if Pei Daowan understood. Flustered, she tried to explain herself: “Um… I didn’t mean to call you ‘Wanwan’ either. I just…”
Her voice trailed off. After all, she knew what had happened before.
At a banquet, the original owner had taken one look at Pei Daowan and, abusing her status, forced her into marriage. After the wedding, she repeatedly insulted and controlled her.
When Pei Daowan refused to submit, the original owner even tried to use forbidden drugs to break her will. If Yu Jinzhao were in Pei Daowan’s place, she wouldn’t just refuse to coexist peacefully—she’d be ready to fight to the death.
“Anyway, you can rest assured. I swear nothing like that will ever happen again. I won’t restrict your freedom. You can go out whenever you want, do whatever you want. Even divorce is an option.”
“Oh? Divorce?”
