- Chapter 35 - The Technique Is Indeed Very Bad
“Dinner’s ready! Go wash your hands and come eat.”
Pei Daowan obediently followed instructions, casting one last glance at the bouquet before leaving. When she returned from the bathroom, Yu Jinzhao had already set the table. In addition to the dishes she’d mentioned, there was also a seaweed and egg drop soup.
Twilight deepened outside the window, while inside, the gentle clinking of dishes mingled with soft murmurs and quiet laughter…
“Phew~”
Pei Daowan set down her chopsticks, her cheeks flushed. Whether it was from the exhaustion of the previous night and not eating all day, or because Yu Jinzhao’s cooking was simply too delicious—or perhaps both—she had eaten far too much.
It had been ages since she’d felt this stuffed, almost unable to move. How embarrassing.
“Oh my~ You ate two bowls of rice today!”
Normally, she only ate one bowl. It seemed her cooking was indeed quite good today.
Yu Jinzhao’s smile didn’t fade all evening, her affection practically overflowing from her eyes, which sparkled like a sky full of tiny stars.
Pei Daowan grumbled softly, wanting to complain that Yu Jinzhao hadn’t stopped her from eating so much, but she had no real reason to.
“You do the dishes. I don’t want to.”
Yu Jinzhao adored Pei Daowan’s slightly coquettish, temperamental side. Normally, Pei Daowan was aloof and reserved, rarely showing such girlish shyness.
This gave Yu Jinzhao a secret, proud thrill—Pei Daowan treated her differently from others.
She decided to indulge in a little spoiled behavior. “Hmm, but I cooked dinner tonight and brought back these beautiful flowers. I deserve a reward for doing the dishes.”
Pei Daowan frowned, her delicate eyebrows furrowing. A reward? That put her in a bit of a bind.
Yu Jinzhao seemed to lack nothing. What kind of reward could she possibly give her?
Catching Yu Jinzhao’s smiling face in her peripheral vision, Pei Daowan suddenly had an idea. She called out softly, “Come here. I’ll give you your reward.”
Trusting Pei Daowan implicitly, Yu Jinzhao leaned in without hesitation.
Immediately, a pair of slender fingers pinched her cheek, twisting the soft flesh gently.
“If you don’t want to do it, plenty of others will.”
When Pei Daowan spoke, she carried a hint of haughty pride, yet her demeanor remained gentle and composed. This striking contrast made her utterly endearing.
Yu Jinzhao’s heart nearly melted. Aaaah! How could anyone be so adorable?!
The original owner was such a bastard! How could she have driven someone so precious to such a desperate state? Calling her a monster would be too kind.
Yu Jinzhao secretly vowed that no matter what happened in this life, she would never let the tragedies of the past repeat themselves. Perhaps I was meant to come here for her.
“Hey, sis, do you know what you look like right now?”
Pei Daowan tilted her head, puzzled. What do I look like?
“Like a precious Persian cat.”
Pei Daowan raised an eyebrow. Comparing me to a cat? What’s that supposed to mean? I’m no pampered house pet.
“Enough nonsense. Go wash the dishes.”
Since Pei Daowan was wearing slippers, she kicked Yu Jinzhao barefoot to urge her to hurry up.
Yu Jinzhao finally went to wash the dishes, while Pei Daowan hugged the bouquet, inhaling its fragrance again and again.
Without waiting for Yu Jinzhao, she carried the flowers upstairs first. She wanted to find a proper place for them—not the kitchen, where they’d only be seen during meals.
After arranging the bouquet, Pei Daowan’s peripheral vision caught sight of the medicinal cream on the bedside table. She had already applied it to her nape, but not to the other area.
During her shower, she had felt a slight stinging sensation there. A rare look of hesitation crossed her face. After a moment’s deliberation, she decided to apply the cream; otherwise, walking would only cause further chafing.
Because the area was hidden and difficult to see, Pei Daowan had to suppress her embarrassment and kneel before the full-length mirror.
She watched her reflection take a shallow breath, tightening her lower abdomen. One hand rested on her waist while the other slowly lifted her robe.
Overwhelmed by shame, Pei Daowan didn’t dare look closely. An unprecedented awkwardness surged through her. Her fingertips trembled as she scooped up a dollop of cream and, guided by instinct, shakily applied it to the area.
The moment the cream touched the outer edge, Pei Daowan held her breath, tensing her core. Had anyone been present, they would have clearly seen the increasingly defined lines of her muscles with each restrained breath.
Reflecting on the previous night, Yu Jinzhao’s touch had been far from satisfying. Too reckless and lacking in finesse, she had charged in without technique, repeatedly losing rhythm and leaving Pei Daowan in discomfort.
Adding to the fact that Yu Jinzhao had deliberately teased her at the beginning, though she later became much more obedient, Pei Daowan had already exhausted a significant portion of her energy before they even properly started. By the end, she had no strength left and could only sob and beg for mercy.
Thinking about this, Pei Daowan’s anger flared up again. Was Yu Jinzhao deaf or blind? Even when she was in such a state, Yu Jinzhao neither heard nor saw her distress, refusing to stop until Pei Daowan passed out from exhaustion.
I shouldn’t have forgiven her so easily, Pei Daowan thought. Being too lenient will only embolden her arrogance.
Meanwhile, Yu Jinzhao, completely unaware of Pei Daowan’s thoughts upstairs, was cheerfully humming a little tune as she washed the dishes.
The ointment itself had a lubricating effect, and with the area still moist, this time it took minimal effort to insert her fingers, coated with the ointment, inside.
Holding her breath, Pei Daowan’s inner shame intensified. At this moment, the emotional turmoil far outweighed the physical sensations.
“Pei Daowan~ Good sister~ Pei Daowan~”
Hearing Yu Jinzhao calling her name from outside instantly snapped Pei Daowan out of her thoughts. She bit her tongue lightly to suppress the tremor in her voice, forcing herself to sound calm.
“What is it?”
“It’s still early. I was wondering if you wanted to come down and watch a movie.”
Before her fingers had even withdrawn, the lingering ointment had melted into a watery substance, perhaps mixed with something else, leaving a damp stain on the blanket.
Glancing at her reflection in the mirror, she saw her eyelashes glistening with moisture. Her usually sharp black-and-white pupils had dissolved into pools of liquid, and an unnatural flush bloomed on her cheeks.
In this disheveled state, Pei Daowan agreed to Yu Jinzhao’s suggestion. “Alright, you find a movie first. I’ll come down in a bit.”
“Okay!”
The sound of retreating footsteps followed, faint but audible to Pei Daowan. In the next instant, her body tensed violently, then began to tremble uncontrollably.
After a long moment, Pei Daowan slowly regained her composure. Gripping her waist, she forced herself to sit up straight. The damp stain on the floor had visibly expanded, now carrying a faint medicinal scent.
She glanced indifferently at the stain, her expression nonchalant. Clenching her waist, she slowly stood up, her legs feeling weak and slightly unsteady.
Hesitating for a moment, Pei Daowan decided to brace herself and take a cold shower. After all, her body was already feeling somewhat sticky…
Staring blankly at the water’s surface, she wondered: What exactly was their relationship? Lovers? Far from it. Allies? What kind of allies ended up entangled in bed? Arch-enemies? Even less so.
By the time Pei Daowan came downstairs, nearly half an hour had passed. She had changed into her pajamas, her hair still damp from a recent shower.
Yu Jinzhao hurriedly gestured for her to sit down, then settled beside her. Though they were supposed to be watching a movie, Yu Jinzhao kept stealing glances at Pei Daowan.
Noticing Yu Jinzhao’s gaze, Pei Daowan asked in a low voice, “Are you watching the movie or watching me?”
Yu Jinzhao scratched her head awkwardly, blushing fiercely like a shy maiden. But her next question was anything but innocent.
“How are you feeling today? Did you apply the ointment? Has anything improved?”
Pei Daowan replied flatly, stating a simple fact, “Not great. Especially last night… your technique was truly beyond words.”
The sky is falling!
Yu Jinzhao’s expression instantly crumpled. Pei Daowan’s emphasis on those final words struck a particularly sharp blow, leaving Yu Jinzhao feeling utterly humiliated.
Though she didn’t identify as a top, she considered herself versatile. But this was crushing. It was a devastating blow to her pride. So I’m really that bad? she thought, tears welling up. Will I ever get another chance to be a lesbian?
Pei Daowan found the whole situation rather amusing, especially Yu Jinzhao’s melodramatic expression of utter despair. Is she really this concerned about it? she wondered.
I need to give her a good talking-to about this, Pei Daowan thought. After all, Yu Jinzhao’s words rang true—her performance last night had indeed been lacking, and Pei Daowan’s experience hadn’t been particularly satisfying.
To be fair, it wasn’t entirely Yu Jinzhao’s fault. It was her first time, and her body wasn’t naturally suited to Alpha physiology. She had to rely solely on instinct, which left her lacking in technique and made her seem like a wild bull relying solely on brute force.
I swear to myself, Pei Daowan vowed inwardly, I absolutely must brush up on this. How could I have left such a poor impression on Pei Daowan? This is a complete failure!
“Come here,” Pei Daowan beckoned, and Yu Jinzhao obediently rested her head in her palm, her expression slightly aggrieved as she blinked up at her with an air of utter innocence.
Pei Daowan patted her head, her fingers threading through Yu Jinzhao’s freshly washed hair. The strands were clean and dry, carrying a faint scent of sea salt and lemon—likely from her shampoo. Combined with the lingering trace of Yu Jinzhao’s pheromones, the blend of scents was intoxicating. Pei Daowan couldn’t resist inhaling deeply, the fragrance permeating her senses and greatly easing the anxiety and unease she had been concealing deep within her heart.
Yu Jinzhao had a fondness for slow-paced classic films, often choosing art-house selections. In this intimate setting, the film’s audio served as a subtle backdrop, casting an ambiguous, sensual atmosphere over them.
Pei Daowan gently lifted Yu Jinzhao’s head, letting her rest lightly on her lap, and casually stroked her forehead.
It was an utterly indulgent gesture, like an adult indulging a child’s whims or a superior watching a subordinate frolic.
A soft light flickered in Pei Daowan’s eyes. Though she wasn’t looking directly at Yu Jinzhao, her movements were tender, inexplicably stirring an urge to cry in Yu Jinzhao.
She turned her head slightly, burying her face in Pei Daowan’s lap, leaving only the back of her head visible. Her eyes grew damp, though she refused to admit she was feeling homesick.
Pei Daowan was being so gentle, patting her head in a way that made her feel like she had returned to childhood—to those nights when she resisted sleep, only to be indulged and coaxed to slumber by her mother.
After two or three months here, her heart still hadn’t settled. She felt like rootless willow catkins, drifting with the wind. The only thing anchoring her was Pei Daowan; she had truly come here for Pei Daowan.
As her heart gradually sank into peace, Yu Jinzhao felt an unprecedented sense of security, akin to the comfort of being swaddled as a child. She didn’t need to think or do anything, only bask in this warm embrace.
Before she knew it, Yu Jinzhao closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. Perhaps it was the exhaustion from the previous night’s efforts, combined with a long, busy day that had finally caught up with her…
