When the Scumbag A Got the Dog-Licking Script - Chapter 36
After only a few minutes of patting Yu Jinzhao, Pei Daowan realized the girl had actually fallen asleep on her lap. She felt both exasperated and amused—this girl really treated her like a tool.
But a pang of sympathy soon followed. She’s still just a child, Pei Daowan thought. Barely two years out of school, she was suddenly thrust into this strange world through no fault of her own. Back home, she must have been pampered like a princess.
Pei Daowan muted the movie and gazed at Yu Jinzhao with a complex expression. After a long moment, she sighed softly, draped a nearby blanket over herself, and continued gently patting Yu Jinzhao’s head, coaxing her deeper into sleep.
She couldn’t help but wonder: If I had met Yu Jinzhao in my previous life, what would have become of us? She pondered the question for a long time, but no answer came.
For the first time, she felt grateful that the System had chosen Yu Jinzhao, and not someone else.
This is… actually quite nice!
In the dim light, their shadows intertwined, almost merging into one. They drifted into a deep slumber in the living room, side by side…
When Yu Jinzhao woke again, it was late into the night. She was still lying face-down on Pei Daowan’s lap, while Pei Daowan had fallen asleep propped up on one arm, her other hand still gently stroking Yu Jinzhao’s head in the same soothing gesture.
In that moment, Yu Jinzhao’s suppressed emotions finally burst forth. Hot tears streamed from her eyes, trickling into her temples and then soaking her collar.
The tears flowed silently, yet for some reason, Yu Jinzhao felt deeply wronged. After being treated with such tenderness, she didn’t know how to face this affection.
She didn’t want to cry, feeling it was melodramatic, but she couldn’t stop. Nor did she dare wipe away the tears, fearing she might wake Pei Daowan. So she simply let the tears flow freely.
As if sensing her distress, Pei Daowan’s fingers twitched, stirring her from sleep. But Yu Jinzhao, lost in her sobs, didn’t notice Pei Daowan stirring.
She didn’t even know why she was crying. She hadn’t cried when her startup failed and left her millions in debt. She hadn’t cried when someone she’d been close to since childhood betrayed her. She hadn’t cried when she was transported to this strange, unfamiliar world. She hadn’t cried when she couldn’t see a path forward. But now, she desperately wanted to weep.
Suddenly, someone lifted her head, and Yu Jinzhao froze, her eyes meeting Pei Daowan’s. Instinctively, she tried to pull away, mortified by her disheveled appearance.
Pei Daowan cupped her chin, preventing her from moving. Flustered and embarrassed, Yu Jinzhao struggled, desperate to hide her vulnerable state.
In the next moment, Pei Daowan pulled her into a tight embrace, one hand gently wiping away her tears.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. It’s all over now. Everything will be alright.”
A sharp pang hit Yu Jinzhao’s heart, and the tears she had barely managed to stem surged forth again. Sobbing, she cried, “Don’t comfort me! The more you comfort me, the more I want to cry… waah…”
Pei Daowan’s eyes overflowed with tenderness. Helpless to ease Yu Jinzhao’s anguish, she could only hold her close, offering comfort in the hope of soothing her pain.
“Waaah~ Pei Daowan~ I miss my mom… I didn’t do anything wrong, but I was suddenly brought here for no reason… Why? I miss my mom…”
Yu Jinzhao was crying so hard she felt lightheaded, her head spinning. She didn’t care who was in front of her anymore; she just wanted to release all the pent-up grievances of the past few days in a torrent of tears.
“They all think I’m generous, that I don’t mind Su Minjing running off with the money or paying off the millions in debt from my failed startup. But why should I? I don’t owe her anything! Even if I overlooked her feelings, she shouldn’t have treated me like this…”
Pei Daowan didn’t know who Su Minjing was, but based on Yu Jinzhao’s previous remarks, she could roughly guess that this was someone Yu Jinzhao had once “liked.”
In an instant, jealousy flooded her heart. This person had seen Yu Jinzhao in her youth, witnessed her most triumphant moments, and even partnered with her in business. Though they later drifted apart, those shared experiences could never be erased.
Yu Jinzhao cared deeply about Su Minjing, even if it wasn’t romantic love. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be crying like this.
“Waaah~ Sister! Sister! Do you know how optimistic I was about the future back then? I truly believed I could make it. I had already secured angel round funding, and I was confident I could turn a profit. But in the end, I ended up owing my friends so much money—they were all investors who had joined me. I didn’t have any cash to pay them, so everything was converted into promissory notes. Then, overnight, it all vanished. And I couldn’t even show a hint of my despair in front of them.”
“I genuinely didn’t know what to do. Why would she do this to me? I hated her so much, I even considered dying with her.”
Pei Daowan’s fists clenched and unclenched, over and over. She hated her own clumsy words, unable to offer Yu Jinzhao any real comfort, only repeating the same few phrases in different ways.
“It’s okay now. It’s okay. It’ll all pass. It’s okay.”
After a while, Yu Jinzhao’s emotions gradually calmed. She looked up at Pei Daowan, her eyes swollen and red, tear tracks still wet on her flushed cheeks.
Pei Daowan picked up a wet wipe from the table and gently dabbed away her tears. A belated wave of shyness washed over her. Yu Jinzhao tried to take the wipe. “I can do it myself.”
Pei Daowan gave her a light tap on the bottom, holding her still. “Don’t move.”
Pei Daowan’s brow furrowed slightly in concentration, her focused expression making her look a bit stern and unapproachable. Yu Jinzhao was instantly struck by this side of her.
It reminded her of a mother scolding a child. The thought made Yu Jinzhao’s face flush even deeper. Pei Daowan, mistaking her embarrassment for shyness, softened her voice. “It’s not that I don’t want you to wipe yourself. You can’t see back there, so it’s easier for me to do it.”
The cool, damp wipe glided gently across her skin. Pei Daowan’s movements were light and meticulous, making Yu Jinzhao feel cherished and cared for.
“Close your eyes.”
Yu Jinzhao obeyed, obediently shutting her eyes. Pei Daowan carefully examined her face. Good, all traces of tears were gone. She then took two more wipes and placed them over Yu Jinzhao’s closed eyelids.
“Keep your eyes closed and leave these on for a while.”
After a moment of silence, Pei Daowan finally spoke the words she had been carefully formulating in her mind. “I’ve heard everything you said, and I think I understand what happened. There’s a saying: ‘love turns to hate.’ You must know it too. This isn’t your fault. You’re a good person. Don’t punish yourself for someone else’s mistakes.”
“Pei Daowan…” Yu Jinzhao murmured, her voice barely audible. With a damp cloth covering her eyes, she couldn’t see Pei Daowan, but her hand instinctively tightened its grip, seeking strength.
Pei Daowan returned the grip firmly, slowly pulling Yu Jinzhao into her embrace. She whispered near her ear, “Forget her. Look forward.”
Yu Jinzhao nodded emphatically in response.
“I can’t really describe my feelings for her,” Yu Jinzhao continued. “I don’t love her, but I can’t truly hate her either. I just don’t understand why she treated me that way. Even if I was wrong, I didn’t deserve this. I just don’t understand.”
“I understand. But life is often like that. Not everything gets closure. Yu Jinzhao! You promised me you’d forget her and look forward. I believe you can do it.”
“Yes, I will.”
Silence fell between them. Yu Jinzhao remained sprawled across Pei Daowan’s lap, the night heavy and still around them. It felt as if they were the only two left in the world, destined to cling to each other until the end.
Suddenly, Yu Jinzhao remembered something and startled upright, startling Pei Daowan.
“I’ve been lying on you for so long. Is your leg numb?”
Pei Daowan was speechless.
“It’s okay,” she said. “It’s numb and I can’t feel anything. It won’t affect…”
Ahhh!
What have I done? Not only did I sleep on top of Pei Daowan for half the night, but I woke up crying and made her comfort me and wipe my tears. I’m such a jerk.
“Let me take a look.”
Pei Daowan tentatively moved her leg, and her brow furrowed. A sharp, tingling numbness instantly spread through her lower body, making it impossible for her to sit up.
“Hiss~”
Yu Jinzhao rushed forward to support Pei Daowan, her expression anxious. “It’s all my fault,” she said. “I should have woken you up sooner.”
Pei Daowan glanced at Yu Jinzhao, her lips pressed into a thin line as she silently endured the wave of numbness.
“I’ll massage it,” Yu Jinzhao offered. “That might help it go away faster.”
“Ugh!”
The sensation of tingling numbness mixed with sharp pain shot through Pei Daowan’s leg. She felt terrible. She hadn’t slept well the night before, and now Yu Jinzhao had been lying on her for half the night.
Every bone in her body seemed to be screaming in protest. After Yu Jinzhao’s massage, her body felt completely foreign, overwhelmed by the combined assault of numbness and pain.
Pei Daowan couldn’t help but wonder privately: Is this what happens after just two nights of poor sleep? Am I really getting old?
Yu Jinzhao, unaware of Pei Daowan’s thoughts, felt terribly guilty. She hadn’t let Pei Daowan rest properly last night, and now she was the one causing her discomfort again tonight.
After a long massage, Pei Daowan gradually shook off the aching, numb, and bloated sensation. She had to admit, Yu Jinzhao’s massage skills were quite impressive—she must have given many massages before.
How does she know how to do everything?!
Painting, massage, cooking, music…
The System had even mentioned that Yu Jinzhao occasionally worked out and played sports. Compared to her, Pei Daowan felt like she knew nothing but work.
“That’s much better. You can stop now.”
“Are there any other places that feel uncomfortable?”
“Hmm~ My lower back aches. I’d like a massage there too.”
Unconsciously, Pei Daowan’s tone took on a slightly coquettish edge. It wasn’t her fault for ordering Yu Jinzhao around—after all, Yu Jinzhao had spent most of the night sleeping with her head on Pei Daowan’s lap. Taking a little “interest” on that wasn’t unreasonable, was it? Besides, Yu Jinzhao was the one who had caused her lower back pain in the first place.
To massage her lower back more easily, Yu Jinzhao turned on the light and lifted Pei Daowan’s pajama top.
The first thing Yu Jinzhao noticed was the mottled bruises on Pei Daowan’s waist—overlapping finger marks, now faded after a day and two nights, leaving large patches of purplish-blue.
In an instant, Yu Jinzhao’s cheeks flushed crimson. She hadn’t forgotten how those marks had gotten there.
Lacking experience, her movements had been somewhat rough. Pei Daowan, naturally unable to endure it, had twisted her waist, trying to escape. Yu Jinzhao had gripped her waist, pinning her against the pillow to keep her from running.
How awful of me!
Waaah, Pei Daowan is so good. Even after I was so awful to her, she still forgave me. And tonight, she’s been so kind to me. I’m such a terrible person!
“It might hurt a little,” Yu Jinzhao said. “I need to massage out the bl00d clots. Just try to bear with it.”
Pei Daowan remained noncommittal. She wasn’t some delicate little girl; she could certainly endure a bit of pain.
But when Yu Jinzhao actually started massaging, Pei Daowan felt a genuine ache, accompanied by a subtle tingling sensation that spread across her skin.
Especially clear was the sensation of Yu Jinzhao’s palm pressing against her flesh, the pressure radiating outward with each movement. Lying face down, unable to see anything else, Pei Daowan’s sense of touch became acutely heightened…
