When the Scumbag A Got the Dog-Licking Script - Chapter 5
After obtaining permission to leave the house, Pei Daowan didn’t hesitate for a moment. She had someone to find.
Before marrying “Yu Jinzhao,” she had been a high-ranking executive at the company. Although her own family was far from virtuous, constantly leeching off her, she had at least enjoyed a degree of freedom.
After all, a company as vast as theirs still needed her strategic decisions. It was laughable how those fools genuinely believed that clinging to the Yu Family’s coattails would guarantee their security.
When Pei Daowan reappeared at the company, the Pei Family members were stunned. They had heard the rumors about Yu Jinzhao—a notorious playboy and an excessively arrogant Alpha—yet somehow, Pei Daowan had managed to break free.
Her cousin, Pei Fangming, was the first to object. If Pei Daowan returned, his own position in the company would become utterly meaningless.
“Why aren’t you at the Yu Family, properly serving my Sister Yu? What are you doing here? As an Omega, you shouldn’t be flaunting yourself in public all day. Even if Sister Yu doesn’t say anything, don’t you think it’s shameful for the rumors to spread?”
Pei Daowan’s eyes turned icy. This idiot! Her good mood had been instantly ruined.
“Pei Fangming! How haven’t you died of your own stupidity yet? After all these years of foolishness, you’ve certainly shown remarkable persistence.”
“You—!”
Being publicly humiliated by an Omega in front of so many company employees was unbearable for Pei Fangming. He felt utterly humiliated and even considered raising his fist to intimidate Pei Daowan.
“Wipe that smug look off your face. Do you really think the company’s shareholders listen to you? If you don’t want to be thrown out, shut your filthy mouth.”
Pei Fangming seethed with anger but was powerless. The company’s veterans indeed ignored him. During Pei Daowan’s month-long absence, the company had suffered a series of blunders. If they hadn’t secured the Yu Family’s backing, their competitors would have devoured them whole.
“Xiao Wan’s back?”
Zhong Yao, seeing her son clash with Pei Daowan, hurriedly plastered on a conciliatory smile, playing peacemaker to prevent another argument.
Out of respect for her aunt, Pei Daowan reluctantly backed down. But Pei Fangming, seeing Zhong Yao arrive, felt emboldened by his perceived support and grew even more arrogant.
“Mom! Look at her! She doesn’t act like an Omega at all. Now that she’s married, she should stay home and behave. When I told her that, she actually cursed at me!”
“You brat! How dare you speak to your cousin like that? Show some respect!”
“I don’t have a cousin like her…”
Pei Daowan couldn’t hear the rest of the conversation clearly, as Zhong Yao was already pushing Pei Fangming into the house.
When her mothers were still alive, she had been the darling of the Pei Family, and her aunt and the other relatives had treated her well enough.
But everything changed after that incident. People she once knew turned into daggers, piercing her heart. She couldn’t protect what her mothers had left behind, forced to endure humiliation and feign cordiality with these people.
As she thought of this, the hatred in her eyes nearly solidified into something tangible.
Yu Xincheng! You owe me! How will you ever repay me?
After calming her son, Zhong Yao gave Pei Daowan an awkward smile. Suddenly, she met Pei Daowan’s gaze and startled, taking a large step back.
“Xiao Wan!”
Realizing she had lost her composure, Pei Daowan gathered her wits and offered a polite smile. “Aunt.”
To be fair, her aunt still had some conscience, even if her actions were tinged with self-interest.
Zhong Yao patted her chest in lingering fear. That look had truly frightened her. How could Xiao Wan possibly have such a gaze?
“Xiao Wan, A’Ming is still young, and he’s an Alpha. Sometimes his youthful vigor gets the better of him. Don’t hold it against him.”
Pei Daowan’s expression remained impassive. Her aunt was a rigid, dull-witted, and ignorant woman. She had no independent thoughts or personal ambitions; everything revolved around her Alpha and her son.
Refusing to engage in polite formalities, Pei Daowan turned her head and brushed past her aunt without a second glance.
She felt no sadness, having grown accustomed to this treatment. Instead, she felt numb and sorrowful. Zhong Yao was a quintessential domesticated Omega, her every action driven by the preservation of her family.
Without independent thought or a career, she was entirely dependent on her Alpha. In their previous life, when Pei Daowan sought revenge against the Yu Family, Zhong Yao had knelt before her, begging her not to wipe them out completely—at least, “Yu Jinzhao” couldn’t die, because she couldn’t imagine how she would live without her Alpha.
Pei Daowan didn’t blame her. From childhood, she had been indoctrinated with such beliefs that she had forgotten her original self.
With a soft sigh, Pei Daowan pushed open the conference room door. The earlier scene was just a minor incident and wouldn’t affect her plans for the day.
The meeting was in full swing. The unexpected guest who had suddenly barged in drew displeased glances from everyone. Murmurs of disapproval filled the room: “Who is this? Such a lack of manners!” But when they recognized Pei Daowan, they froze in shock.
Hadn’t she just gotten married? Why is she back at the shareholders’ meeting?!
Wait a minute! She married into the Yu Family. How could she still be here?!
A wave of suspicion and unease swept through the room, creating an awkward silence. Pei Daowan slowly scanned the crowd, taking in their expressions.
“President Pei!”
Only a few faces lit up with genuine joy. These were her longtime loyalists, who knew her character well and held significant positions within the company.
Since Pei Daowan’s marriage and departure, their positions had been precarious. Pei Fangming, the incompetent second-generation heir, had seized more power through nepotism, arbitrarily reassigning roles and making everyone’s lives miserable.
“I came with no particular purpose,” Pei Daowan said. “I just wanted to see how your meeting went. Please continue without minding me.”
Though she spoke casually, everyone knew this was a test. After all, they had genuinely believed she wouldn’t return to the company after her marriage.
When Pei Daowan was still at the company, her exceptional skills had brought significant profits. Yet she had always outshone them, making it difficult for these Alphas to maintain their dignity. But there was nothing they could do—they simply couldn’t match her abilities.
Now, during her absence, each of them had installed their own loyalists and carved up the company’s profits. Seeing the rightful owner return, how could they not feel guilty?
Pei Yuanwu’s expression was particularly complex as he watched his niece’s return. He had always harbored a mix of love and resentment toward her. On one hand, her undeniable talent left him speechless. On the other, she was an Omega.
But it was precisely because she was an Omega that he had been able to scheme for his sister’s family assets.
As an Omega, Pei Daowan was destined to marry sooner or later. By marrying into the Yu Family, she could smoothly inherit everything else. As long as her relationship with Miss Yu remained stable, the Pei Family would have nothing to worry about.
“Why did you suddenly come back? Shouldn’t you be properly serving your Alpha? What are you doing here?”
Hearing such disrespectful words, Pei Daowan didn’t even flinch. She immediately invoked Yu Jinzhao’s name, knowing the Yu Family’s influence would work wonders.
“A-Zhao told me to come back and see if there’s anything I could help with.”
The moment he heard Yu Jinzhao’s name, Pei Yuanwu’s face crumpled into a sycophantic grin.
“Look at you, not mentioning it earlier! Is Xiao Yu here too?”
Pei Daowan sneered inwardly. How predictable—abandoning principles for profit. The moment he heard Yu Jinzhao’s name, he immediately changed his tune.
“She’s not here. It’s just me today.”
Now it was Pei Yuanwu’s turn to be bewildered. Why would she come alone? Did they have a fight?!
This won’t do!
They’ve only been married a month, and some formalities haven’t even been completed yet. Their relationship can’t fall apart now!
“Then why didn’t Xiao Yu come?”
It was rather embarrassing, but a month had passed since their marriage, and he hadn’t even seen Yu Jinzhao’s face. Not that he didn’t want to—Miss Yu simply disdained to meet him.
Climbing the Yu Family’s towering tree was already a stroke of luck for the Pei Family, as if their ancestors’ graves were emitting auspicious smoke. Even if Pei Yuanwu had objections, he dared not voice them, only daring to grumble at Pei Daowan.
“Look at you, not staying home properly! What are you doing at the company? Even if Xiao Yu has always doted on you, you can’t take her affection for granted. I’ve heard Old Master Yu is quite traditional and despises Omegas who show themselves in public…”
Pei Yuanwu seemed to have opened the floodgates. His niece, usually so independent, had been steadily gaining influence at the company, even threatening to surpass him. Now that he finally had an opportunity, he was determined to scold her thoroughly.
Moreover, with his sister gone, he was now the head of the Pei Family. His desire to usurp her position grew increasingly difficult to conceal, and he even considered invoking the name of the late Pei Jingqiu to pressure her.
But he didn’t dare. He had witnessed his niece’s fury before. Pei Jingqiu and Xiang Wanmian were her untouchable taboos—no one dared mention them.
Pei Daowan had no interest in hearing his lecture. She interrupted impatiently, “I didn’t come here to listen to this.”
Pei Yuanwu froze. Then why had she returned?!
Pei Daowan ignored Pei Yuanwu and turned to address the crowd. “I’ve been in management at this company for four or five years. I know every aspect of our operations, big and small, inside and out. Yet in just one month since I left, the company has undergone such drastic changes—my promoted staff have been sidelined, and the projects I championed have been axed.”
Hearing this, the crowd’s faces flushed crimson and then paled. It was clear she had come to demand answers.
Pei Yuanwu’s expression was particularly strained, knowing he was the architect of these sweeping changes within the past month.
Just then, Pei Fangming burst through the door, his tone arrogant and domineering. “What does an Omega like you even understand? These are business adjustments and personnel changes. Do we need to report every decision to you? Instead of meddling here, why don’t you focus on having children and securing your position?”
His words were harsh, especially given the presence of several Omega executives. Their anger simmered, barely contained. Before Pei Daowan could respond, someone couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Young Master Pei, your sister is the Executive Vice President of this company. You don’t even hold a formal position. By protocol, you shouldn’t even be attending this meeting.”
“Who do you think you are? Everyone knows this company belongs to the Pei Family. Executive Vice President? That title can be revoked with a single word.”
The speaker was none other than Liu Qingyi, who had joined the company straight after graduation. Pei Daowan had personally promoted her, even under considerable pressure. Seeing Pei Daowan being humiliated by such an incompetent buffoon, she couldn’t swallow her anger.
“Pei Daowan’s contributions to this company are undeniable. If it weren’t for her, would our business have thrived so spectacularly these past few years? Would you have had the opportunity to squander resources so recklessly?”
“Hmph! She’s just a lucky Omega who’s gotten too big for her britches. Besides, who knows what underhanded tactics she used to get where she is?”
The moment those words left his mouth, even some of the Alphas in the room couldn’t stomach it. This was a baseless and utterly degrading insult.
“You—!”
Liu Qingyi was so furious she could barely speak. Unlike Pei Fangming, she couldn’t stoop to such shameless attacks. Yet her own moral compass now restrained her, preventing her from delivering a truly effective counterblow.
Pei Daowan’s expression remained unchanged, as if the insults had no impact on her whatsoever. She simply turned to Pei Fangming and said, “Come here.”
“Fine, I’ll come. You think I’m afraid of you?”
Slap!
The crisp sound of a slap stunned everyone present. Apart from Pei Daowan, everyone in the room froze in shock.
