Why Suffer for This Distress (GL) - Chapter 11
When Su Xiyan rushed to the door, the scene before her made her grit her teeth with fury.
Xiao Moyan raised an eyebrow, staring unblinkingly at He Jingmo, her eyes full of amazement. He Jingmo, on the other hand, was clearly bewildered by this woman who had walked in, talked nonsense, and was staring at her lustfully. She looked at Xiao Moyan in a daze.
“What are you doing here?”
Su Xiyan took a step forward, blocking the view between the two. She glared at Xiao Moyan. What’s going on? What’s with this woman, batting her seductive eyes at Jingmo first thing in the morning?
“Aren’t you going to introduce us?” Xiao Moyan looked at Su Xiyan with a charming smile, completely unaffected by her anger. Su Xiyan continued to stare at her without speaking. She scrutinized Xiao Moyan from top to bottom, feeling a little stifled. She now believed the intelligence that said Xiao Moyan came from an entertainment company background. Tsk tsk, look at that flashy outfit. Xiao Moyan seemed to favor black, still wearing a black body-hugging evening dress, probably just back from some ceremony. The skirt hem was cut to expose her long, snow-white legs, which were dazzlingly eye-catching. Not only was the woman herself alluring, but even her figure was captivating. Su Xiyan frowned, turning her head to see He Jingmo’s reaction.
“You are CEO Xiao.” Unexpectedly, He Jingmo was very calm. She looked at Xiao Moyan and stated with certainty. Xiao Moyan looked at her with some surprise, then her eyes narrowed with a smile and she glanced at Su Xiyan, “Someone must have introduced me to you.”
He Jingmo nodded, appraising Xiao Moyan. Xiao Moyan knew she was being watched. Holding her sunglasses, she smiled and walked into the room. She was quite unreserved, looking around before sitting on the sofa. She drew one leg up under her long black dress, exposing a crystalline half-calf. The black dress accentuated her skin, making it glow like solidified fat. Her long hair was casually spread on the sofa, her chest rising and falling gently. A beautiful line flowed from her neck down to her prominent collarbones. She looked at He Jingmo and chuckled, “I didn’t expect such a pleasant surprise on this trip.”
“Jingmo, come inside. You must be tired after being up all night.” Su Xiyan’s instinct prompted her to hurry He Jingmo to leave. She didn’t want Xiao Moyan to see He Jingmo at all. And Xiao Moyan, at her age, dressed so revealingly and flirting like this, was it appropriate?
“What are you afraid of? I’m not a bad person.” Xiao Moyan frowned slightly, making a look that was both charming and innocent. Su Xiyan didn’t joke with her like yesterday. She reached out and pulled He Jingmo, dragging her behind her. He Jingmo felt her tension, and while pleased, she squeezed Su Xiyan’s hand back. Unfortunately, the nervous Su Xiyan was completely unaware of the soft encouragement. She watched Xiao Moyan warily, asking with hostility, “CEO Xiao, what exactly did you come here for?”
“What for?” Xiao Moyan looked at Su Xiyan holding He Jingmo’s hand with amusement. What, did she really see her as a wolf to guard against?
“Is it a problem to check in beforehand on someone I’m about to collaborate with?” The statement was mundane but impeccable. Xiao Moyan looked at Su Xiyan, slightly narrowing her eyes. Her gaze flickered between Su Xiyan and He Jingmo. Su Xiyan realized she was losing composure and quickly released He Jingmo’s hand, but He Jingmo unexpectedly grasped it back, refusing to let go. With an inaudible sigh, He Jingmo stepped in front of Su Xiyan, looked at Xiao Moyan, and smiled politely, “Have you eaten, CEO Xiao?”
“No.” There were no words like “politeness” in Xiao Moyan’s dictionary. As she answered, she got up and walked toward the dining room, automatically pulling out a chair and sitting down.
“Jingmo—” Su Xiyan frowned at her. He Jingmo shook her head at her, walked over, and took out new bowls and chopsticks from the cupboard, handing them to Xiao Moyan.
“Oh, not bad, very sumptuous. CEO Su, you are very lucky.” Not only did CEO Xiao freeload, but she also didn’t spare her words, the sentence double-entendre hinting at the little secret between the two. Su Xiyan’s heart skipped a beat, and she looked at He Jingmo. He Jingmo brushed back the long hair scattered across her forehead, looking back at her.
Her gaze was simple, devoid of any complex emotion, silently watching as usual, yet it was like a flame falling onto Su Xiyan’s heart.
Xiao Moyan chewed on the jellyfish, sidelong glancing at the two. Well, their awkwardness really did remind her of her own and her wife’s demeanor back then. But looking at them, it seemed the truth hadn’t been exposed. Or perhaps, she was wrong? Clearing her throat, Xiao Moyan looked at He Jingmo and asked with a smile, “May I know your name?”
“He Jingmo.” He Jingmo looked at Xiao Moyan with no intention of hiding anything. Although the woman in front of her hadn’t said anything, she possessed an inexplicable aura. He Jingmo understood that anything she wanted to know was no longer a secret.
Su Xiyan was very displeased with their frequent conversation. She also sat down at the table and started eating.
“What do you do, Miss He?” Xiao Moyan asked casually while eating. Su Xiyan quickly looked up and replied, “Elementary school teacher.”
She couldn’t give an entirely implausible answer, nor could she tell her the complete truth. Su Xiyan was well aware of the things that went on in the business circle. Although being married gave some protection, philandering was common, especially for CEO Xiao, who had climbed out of the entertainment industry. Her experience must be very rich. Su Xiyan absolutely could not let He Jingmo be tainted by this mess. Regardless of this woman’s intentions, her very seductive aura made Su Xiyan feel uncomfortable.
“Elementary school teacher?” Xiao Moyan raised an eyebrow. Su Xiyan looked at her nervously, but He Jingmo looked at Su Xiyan, a slight smile on her lips. Xiao Moyan looked at both of them and nodded, “Mmm, I can imagine.”
I can imagine…
What did that mean? Su Xiyan stared at Xiao Moyan. Xiao Moyan saw her nervous look and shook her head, “Sigh, youth is wonderful.” Back then, she and her wife were also so arrogant and awkward. Thinking back now, those days were truly the best time of her life. From their interactions, Xiao Moyan could determine the nature of their relationship. This relationship…
“CEO Xiao, are you still drunk?” Su Xiyan looked at Xiao Moyan, her voice a little cold. She hated it when others looked at He Jingmo with that kind of scrutinizing gaze. Regardless of the outcome between Angran and Shenghuang, she would never allow He Jingmo to be harmed in any way.
“I came to tell you that I’m returning to Beijing tomorrow.”
“Oh, that’s a pity.” Su Xiyan replied, but her face showed she couldn’t wait for her to leave. He Jingmo looked at Su Xiyan with amusement, wanting to go over and pinch her cheek. She knew that Shenghuang was an opportunity for Angran, and Xiao Moyan was the key to this opportunity. She hadn’t failed to notice Su Xiyan’s professional smile when talking business, and her overly aggressive attitude toward Xiao Moyan was mostly because of her. He Jingmo could tell that Xiao Moyan also liked women, and CEO Xiao clearly lived a more unrestrained and free life, unconcerned about her sexual orientation being known. Only Xiao Moyan could pull off such an arrogant demeanor.
“Mmm, the flight tickets have been bought.” Xiao Moyan took out two flight tickets at some point and waved them in front of her. Su Xiyan’s heart tightened, looking at her, “Why two tickets?” He Jingmo, who had been smiling all along, also grew tense in understanding, staring unblinkingly at Xiao Moyan. Xiao Moyan looked at the two of them, and a rare expression of awkwardness appeared on her charming face. She cleared her throat and said, “Because of what happened last night, my wife is very angry and refuses to believe me no matter how I explain.”
“And then?” Su Xiyan pressed. Xiao Moyan looked at her and smiled: “Then you need to come with me to Beijing to explain.”
