Why Suffer for This Distress (GL) - Chapter 31
Su Xiyan stared at Su Nan for a full three seconds, her brain short-circuited by the sudden reversal. Su Nan proudly patted her shoulder, “My sister’s charm is irresistible! Getting chosen even when just making a brief appearance, she’s really doing me proud.”
He Ranran, hearing this, was displeased. She frowned, “How can you say that? It sounds like our Jingmo is unwanted.”
“I didn’t mean that at all, look at you…” Su Nan looked awkwardly at He Jingmo, somewhat worried that she might misunderstand his words. He really married a clueless wife, who couldn’t even save him face in front of his sister-in-law. Fortunately, He Jingmo’s thoughts didn’t seem to be focused there. She still didn’t speak, silently looking at Su Xiyan. She knew this without her brother and sister saying anything. She didn’t care about anyone else’s opinion; the only one she cared about was Su Xiyan. Although she clearly knew Su Xiyan didn’t like Wei Ning, her heart was simply uncomfortable. She would not allow Su Xiyan to have any further involvement with Wei Ning.
“Ha! He likes me!” Su Xiyan finally reacted. As soon as she snapped out of it, she burst into loud laughter, “Bro, why didn’t you tell me earlier!” Seriously, she worried for nothing for so long!
“…”
She was met with a moment of silence. Su Nan, who understood his sister’s temperament, cleared his throat and looked at the laughing, swaying Su Xiyan, “Sis, can’t you be a little more reserved?”
Su Xiyan didn’t understand what reserve meant. Her heart was bubbling with joy. As long as the enemy was eliminated and no mosquitoes were buzzing around He Jingmo, she didn’t care where the fallout would land later. He Jingmo couldn’t stand it. She reached out and gave her a pinch. Su Xiyan grabbed her hand, smiling as she looked at her.
What are you doing? Brother and sister-in-law are here, and you’re pinching such a sensitive spot. Do you want to expose us?
He Jingmo glared at her, You better behave! He Jingmo recalled carefully. It seemed that in college, quite a few people did have a crush on Su Xiyan, but most were women. Someone as outstanding yet so inconspicuous as Wei Ning, not to mention Su Xiyan, even she didn’t remember him. Thinking of this, He Jingmo felt somewhat better.
“In college, it was just a good impression at most. Wei Ning told me that he later met you at a cold buffet. You were completely drunk and threw up all over him, so he had a lasting impression of you. After meeting you a few more times, he became even more obsessed.”
“Pffft.” This time, He Jingmo burst into laughter. So that’s what happened. Su Xiyan gritted her teeth. What? So he was attracted to her in that embarrassing state? Is Wei Ning sick!
“Sister, do you really not remember Wei Ning at all? You drank so much, and someone let you use them as a garbage can to throw up on, and you’re not unhappy?”
Su Xiyan shook her head, secretly glancing at He Jingmo, “I remember we had an agreement for both our families to meet after dinner. At that time, I was so afraid you’d notice I had been drinking, so I made myself throw up. Why don’t I remember throwing up on someone?” Her words were a little guilty. In fact, she was afraid He Jingmo would realize she had been drinking.
Now, Su Nan’s sympathy overflowed. He started to pity Wei Ning. He had a secret crush for so many years, only to be treated as a trash can for her feelings. Su Nan stroked his chin and looked at He Ranran, reminiscing, “I also only won your heart after chasing you through thick and thin. It seems our family has this potential. What’s it called? Oh yes, ‘deep love through abuse’!”
Deep love through abuse… Both He sisters fell silent simultaneously. Su Xiyan didn’t give Su Nan any face and immediately reached out to touch his forehead: “Bro, do you have a fever?”
Su Nan’s face flushed. He swatted her hand away and was about to say something when He Ranran interrupted him.
“You two chat for a bit. We’re going inside.”
He Ranran gave Su Nan a look. It seemed the two of them were about to have a fight. After all, He Jingmo went on a blind date, but Su Xiyan was the one who was chosen. Who wouldn’t feel bad about that?
The two went inside together. Su Xiyan was still laughing. He Jingmo looked at her with a stern face and frowned, “You’re that happy that Wei Ning likes you?”
“Not at all.” Su Xiyan clung to He Jingmo’s waist in a spoiled manner, trying to deflect. He Jingmo wasn’t fooled, still maintaining a stiff, clearly displeased expression.
“Don’t be angry. I’m not happy that he likes me.” Su Xiyan burrowed her head into He Jingmo’s embrace, rubbing her cheek against hers like a puppy, “I’m happy that he won’t bother you. You don’t know, every time I see a man being attentive to you, I get furious.”
True to Su Xiyan’s nature, she couldn’t figure things out before the cards were laid on the table, but now that she had confronted her feelings, she no longer hid anything.
In contrast, He Jingmo was accustomed to years of restraint. She looked at Su Xiyan and pinched her cheek, “Oh? You know you get furious?”
“Of course.” Su Xiyan answered in a soft, childish voice, holding He Jingmo tightly. For some reason, she was particularly obsessed with He Jingmo’s embrace now, wanting to become a koala and cling to her neck 24/7.
Leaning in the comfortable embrace, Su Xiyan began to recall, “I really didn’t think much of it in college, but every Valentine’s Day, I seemed somewhat distracted, always gazing at you longingly. I felt that the boys surrounding you all had bad intentions and weren’t any good. The gifts they gave you were also so vulgar—chocolates, flowers. We’re not elementary school students, what kind of trash are they sending?”
Su Xiyan also laughed at her own childishness back then. He Jingmo stroked her hair, “Yes. In junior year, because I went out with the class monitor, you had a fit and gave me the cold shoulder for a month.”
Su Xiyan rolled her eyes, “It’s your fault for insisting on going to purchase class supplies with him on that day. No matter what I said, you wouldn’t listen. Hmph, who knows what you two were doing? It’s all your fault for making me sad and upset for so long.” Even after so much time, Su Xiyan was still upset when bringing up the past. He Jingmo let her ramble, stroking her hair, and gently coaxing her, “Alright, it’s my fault. It won’t happen again, okay?”
“You say it won’t happen again.” Su Xiyan’s sour mood was endless once it started. She pouted unhappily, looked up at He Jingmo, “You tell me, who sent those flowers?”
He Jingmo found Su Xiyan’s wide-eyed, frowning look adorable. A ripple spread in her heart. She lowered her head and couldn’t resist lightly kissing Su Xiyan’s forehead, “I truly don’t know. Maybe the delivery person made a mistake. Maybe they weren’t even meant for me.”
“Hmph, how is that possible? Why didn’t they make a mistake and send a bouquet to me? Does something good like that happen in the world?” Su Xiyan was very dissatisfied with He Jingmo’s perfunctory answer. He Jingmo sighed, resting her chin on Su Xiyan’s shoulder, “Then what do you suggest we do?”
This made Su Xiyan’s eyes light up. She looked at her with anticipation, “Can you let me kiss you? To compensate for my injured heart.”
He Jingmo blushed, biting her lip as she lowered her head. Su Xiyan thought she was unwilling and quickly added, “I’ll just kiss your cheek. Is it okay if I don’t move to your mouth?”
He Jingmo suppressed a laugh, looked up at the anxious Su Xiyan, and nodded, “Mhm.” This little idiot. If it weren’t for that last sentence, she would have definitely let her have her way.
Su Xiyan was ecstatic to get permission, moving her hands and feet wildly with joy. He Jingmo watched her with a smile for a moment and slowly closed her eyes.
Seeing that He Jingmo was ready, Su Xiyan took a long breath and leaned close to her. She cautiously cupped He Jingmo’s face with both hands, gently stroking it as if it were a worldly treasure. A strange sensation traveled from her fingertips. Su Xiyan trembled slightly. Such fair and tender skin. The touch really feels like a peeled egg. She stared unblinkingly at He Jingmo, watching her gently fluttering eyelashes, seeing the faint blush on her face. Her heart beat wildly, and she could no longer control the desire in her heart. She also closed her eyes and leaned in for a kiss.
Usually, Su Xiyan was overbearing and reckless, never playing by the rules, but when truly facing He Jingmo, she became unusually obedient. When she said she would kiss the cheek, she absolutely wouldn’t cross the line to kiss the mouth.
Su Xiyan treated He Jingmo’s face like the most exquisite delicacy in the world, gently sucking and tirelessly nibbling, occasionally interspersed with light biting. He Jingmo’s heart had long been stirred by this series of actions, igniting desire within her. She raised both hands, wrapped them around Su Xiyan’s neck, and clung to her.
This was an unspoken agreement for Su Xiyan’s next move, but Su Xiyan was still as honest as an elementary school student. Her lips stayed pressed against He Jingmo’s cheek, refusing to move. Opening her mouth, she gently sucked on a piece of tender flesh, holding it in her mouth. Her hand also subconsciously lightly rubbed He Jingmo’s back. He Jingmo felt a warm current flowing into her heart through Su Xiyan’s palm. She trembled incessantly, completely softened by Su Xiyan’s teasing. Yet, this annoying person only knew how to cover her face with saliva, persistently refusing to take the next step.
“Xiyan…” He Jingmo couldn’t help but open her eyes and plead with the person in front of her. Su Xiyan’s lips were still pressed against He Jingmo’s cheek, “Mhm?”
Jerk! He Jingmo looked at Su Xiyan’s calm demeanor and could no longer tolerate it. Her hand moved down and hooked Su Xiyan’s back. With a flip, she pressed her under her body. Like a hungry tiger pouncing on its prey, He Jingmo didn’t hesitate for a moment and kissed those red lips. Throughout this, Su Xiyan’s lips were curved in a smile. She knew this would happen. They shared the same love, and Jingmo’s love was even deeper than hers. Since even she couldn’t hold back, how could Jingmo control herself? No matter how calm she was, she was a woman after all. Who wouldn’t know how to flirt?
