Wife, I’ve Been Reborn (GL) - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Sunday Plans and a Nagging Feeling
On Sunday, Mu Nan was still in bed when Chen Jiao called to wake her up. Mu Nan rubbed her eyes, reluctantly got dressed, and opened the door. Yesterday after school, Xu Liangchen had assigned her many more test papers. She hadn’t had time to do them yet. She wondered if she’d have time when she got back. Of course, she didn’t dare tell Xu Liangchen about going out with Chen Jiao today. She was probably afraid of making her top-student deskmate angry. Sigh… To think that she, a little tyrant, would one day be so afraid of someone. Indeed, she and Xu Liangchen were like a force encountering its equal, and she was the one who was subdued.
Mu Nan was washing up in the bathroom, lost in thought, when Mu Yang happened to get up. He saw her and his eyes widened. “Up so early today?” Mu Nan rolled her eyes. Does he need to look like he’s seen a ghost? She just liked to lie in bed on Sundays, that’s all. Making a fuss over nothing. Mu Yang saw her hogging the bathroom and simply went out. He saw Chen Jiao sitting in the living room, flipping through a book, and asked, “Where are you two going today?” Chen Jiao looked up at Mu Yang’s voice, her tone playful. “To have fun!” Mu Yang shook his head. “You’re both about to take the college entrance exam, and all you think about is playing. I think you don’t want to graduate.” Chen Jiao pouted and made a face at him. “Nag, nag, nag!”
The old Chen Jiao wouldn’t have said such a thing even if you beat her. She had been Mu Yang’s little fangirl for years, and she never used to contradict anything he said. But now… when Chen Jiao thought of Zhao Shi, she wished she could rush out immediately. She dragged Mu Nan along today because she didn’t dare go alone. She had already agreed with Mu Nan that once they arrived, Mu Nan would find an excuse to leave, and she would stay with Zhao Shi. A pretty good plan. Mu Nan even said that she was usually so dumb, but when she met someone she liked, her mind opened up.
Chen Jiao chuckled to herself, occasionally glancing towards the bathroom. “Mu Nan, are you ready yet!” Mu Nan replied weakly, “Alright, alright, you’re rushing me to my death!” With that, she came out of the bathroom. Today, she wore a red knee-length dress with a bow at the collar, completely modest. She was very satisfied. Chen Jiao saw her hair was still loose and not dried and asked, “Aren’t you tying your hair?” Mu Nan shook her head. “Oh, too lazy to tie it. Anyway, we’re just going for a bit. We’ll see when we get back.” Chen Jiao nodded, grabbed her bag, and walked out the door behind her. Mu Yang anxiously warned, “Be back early!” Chen Jiao let out a giggle. “You sound like a mom.” Mu Nan, who had already walked out, hooted, “He’s been your idol since you were little!” Chen Jiao tilted her head. “My idol has changed now!”
Mu Nan knew who she was talking about without being told, but it had only been a few days. Chen Jiao was completely infatuated with Zhao Shi, which was truly rare.
…
A Trap and a Risky Escape Plan
Zhao Shi had arranged to meet Chen Jiao at a KTV. This was a KTV that Mu Nan and Chen Jiao frequented, and they were very familiar with the owner. Mu Nan didn’t have any particular guard up. However, when she entered the private room and saw four or five boys sitting inside, her brows subtly furrowed. Even Chen Jiao’s expression wasn’t good. They had thought only Zhao Shi would be there.
The sound system in the private room was already on, deafeningly loud. All the lights in the room were off, leaving only the flashing lights near the TV flickering wildly on the walls. The entire private room was filled with the smell of alcohol and smoke. Four or five boys wore baggy clothes, some with yellow dyed hair, some red, and large earrings dangling from their ears. They looked like trouble at first glance. Zhao Shi sat among these boys, looking clean and out of place.
When they saw someone enter, they all stopped what they were doing. A boy with yellow hair, still holding a cigarette in his mouth, yelled, “Turn off the music!” The music immediately stopped, and the private room became quiet. Someone shouted, “Oh! The main character has arrived!” Another boy stood up, his eyes on Mu Nan, a little unruly. “But what should we do if the main character is late?” “Of course, they should be punished with drinks!” A group of boys cheered, and the private room burst into laughter.
The music was off, but the lights weren’t on, only dim light shone on them. Mu Nan couldn’t clearly see their expressions, but she could imagine them. They were not good people. She hadn’t expected Zhao Shi to arrange to meet them here. Mu Nan didn’t like this kind of environment and wanted to pull Chen Jiao away, but she saw Chen Jiao’s pitiful eyes. Unable to bear it, she walked up to Zhao Shi. “Come out, I have something to say to you.”
Zhao Shi was about to stand up when a boy next to him pressed his shoulder down, facing Mu Nan. “Girl, before you look for someone, you have to follow the rules. You’re late, so you have to be punished with drinks!” Mu Nan glared angrily at the boy. Before she could utter her gritted words, Chen Jiao quickly stepped forward, picked up a glass of alcohol from the table, and gulped it down! Chen Jiao drank three glasses, her head feeling a little dizzy. There were still three glasses of alcohol, Mu Nan’s share, in front of her. “She doesn’t drink. I’ll drink for her!” Mu Nan turned and pulled Chen Jiao’s arm. “Jiaojiao, stop drinking. Let’s go.”
The yellow-haired boy suddenly said, “Hey? You want to leave without drinking? Aren’t you giving us brothers a little too much disrespect?” Mu Nan looked at Zhao Shi. He had been sitting there all along, his eyes not moving. “Zhao Shi, what do you mean?” Only then did Zhao Shi look up at her. “Mu Nan, since you don’t like me, let’s end this. I’ll drink two glasses for you, and you drink the remaining one. Then we’ll be even.” With that, he stood up and drank two glasses of alcohol.
Mu Nan saw everyone’s eyes on her, even Chen Jiao was looking at her with a flushed face. She hesitantly picked up the glass. Inside was a yellow liquid. It smelled very much like the beer she had drunk before. Just one glass. It shouldn’t get her drunk, right? Mu Nan wanted to get rid of these people as quickly as possible. She closed her eyes and swallowed it in one gulp! It was very harsh! It wasn’t the usual beer! The alcohol burned her throat, making her cough. “Zhao Shi… are you satisfied now?”
Zhao Shi’s rigid face softened slightly. He pointed to a seat. “Sit down and let the alcohol settle.” Mu Nan just wanted to leave; she had no desire to stay there any longer. She grabbed Chen Jiao’s arm. Chen Jiao looked at her pitifully. She didn’t want to leave.
“Chen Jiao!” Mu Nan was a little angry. She had already gotten a taste of what kind of boys these were; they were definitely not good news. Leaving Chen Jiao alone here, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Mu Nan was both angry and anxious, and her head was spinning. Chen Jiao pulled Mu Nan to sit by her side. “Nannan, just stay with me for a little longer. I’ll go tell Zhao Shi clearly. You can find an excuse to go to the restroom and sneak away later.” Mu Nan saw that her mind was made up and had no choice. “Go.”
…
Xu Liangchen’s Arrival and a Brutal Rescue
Chen Jiao scurried to Zhao Shi’s side. The yellow-haired boy was still sitting next to Zhao Shi. The yellow-haired boy watched Chen Jiao, then reached out and grabbed her butt. It felt good. These girls were just so tender. Chen Jiao instinctively moved closer to Zhao Shi and whispered in his ear, “I have something to tell you. Can we go outside?” Zhao Shi’s eyes held a hint of amusement. “Okay, you go out first, I’ll be right out.” Chen Jiao smiled, nodded, and walked out first.
Zhao Shi watched Chen Jiao leave, then told the yellow-haired boy, “Entertain our distinguished guest well.” The yellow-haired boy grinned lecherously. “Brother Zhao Shi, don’t worry. Don’t you trust me to handle things?” Zhao Shi glanced in Mu Nan’s direction, then walked up to her and whispered, “Mu Nan, Chen Jiao called me out. I’ll come back in a bit and take you out.” Mu Nan’s mind was hazy. She didn’t really understand what Zhao Shi said and just nodded. “Oh…” She felt like her head was about to explode from the pain. Her throat was also incredibly dry; she really wanted water.
She saw someone sit next to her and said hoarsely, “Um… can I have a glass of water?” The yellow-haired boy saw her condition and knew the drug had taken effect. He quickly handed her a glass of alcohol. “Here, drink this.” Mu Nan gulped it down. The coolness of the icy liquid made her feel a little better, followed by even more thirst. “Want more?” Mu Nan nodded frantically. “Yes, yes, yes!”
The yellow-haired boy started a recording, capturing Mu Nan’s conversation. While pouring her drinks, he asked, “Want more?” Mu Nan unconsciously replied, “Yes!” The yellow-haired boy gestured to his subordinate to turn on the music. His hands fumbled on Mu Nan’s body. “Where do you want it? Hmm?” Mu Nan saw him leaning very close. Her arm tried to push him away, but she had no strength at all. She was so anxious she almost cried. Her voice was a whimper, like a cat’s. Her consciousness grew weaker and weaker.
“Get out…” The yellow-haired boy chuckled and simply pulled Mu Nan into his embrace. Just as he was about to lay his hands on her, the door was kicked open! A short-haired girl stood there, holding a stick.
Xu Liangchen entered and closed the door. She saw the yellow-haired boy holding Mu Nan, and her phoenix eyes filled with chilling intent. Then she quickly scanned Mu Nan, seeing that her clothes were still properly on. She breathed a sigh of relief, but her eyes, fixed on the yellow-haired boy’s hands, shone with a cold light, her aura fierce. The few boys were still stunned. Seeing that it was just another girl, they relaxed. One boy even turned off the music.
Xu Liangchen spoke slowly, almost biting off each word. “You’d better turn the music on.” The yellow-haired boy, seeing such a beautiful girl as Xu Liangchen, immediately put Mu Nan down and took two steps forward, asking, “Why? Do you want to play with us too?” His tone was so lewd, his attitude so depraved, that it made the other boys laugh loudly. Xu Liangchen raised the hand holding the stick. “So you don’t embarrass yourselves later.” The yellow-haired boy laughed even louder. “Embarrass… embarrass who… Ah!” The yellow-haired boy’s laughter stopped abruptly. He then rolled on the ground, clutching one arm.
Xu Liangchen never used flashy moves. Her strikes always landed on vital points. She had been disgusted by this yellow-haired boy’s hand for a long time! The yellow-haired boy lay on the ground, roaring, “What are you looking at?! Get her! You idiots!” Then followed a string of unprintable curses. Xu Liangchen could handle thugs like Jiang Hao with ease, let alone this useless bunch. But her blows were noticeably heavier this time. Especially for the yellow-haired boy from before. As she left, she even broke his other arm! The yellow-haired boy was extremely unwilling, his eyes fixed on Xu Liangchen as if he wanted to devour her!
Xu Liangchen threw down the stick, turned on all the lights in the private room, then walked up to the yellow-haired boy, took the recorder from his person, and stepped on one of his arms. “Do you know Song Bei?” The yellow-haired boy gritted his teeth from the pain of being stepped on, but this time, he didn’t make another sound. Song Bei. The Second Young Lady of the Song family. Who in A City doesn’t know her?!
…
This KTV encounter turned out to be far more dangerous than Mu Nan anticipated. How will Xu Liangchen’s actions affect their relationship, and what connection does this “Song Bei” have to the situation?
