Wife, I’ve Been Reborn (GL) - Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Xu Liangchen and Mu Nan stood at the door and saw that most of the classmates had arrived.
A few teachers were also there, all young and laughing with the students, not at all their serious selves from school.
There were also some new faces who seemed to be Song Yu’s friends.
These new faces’ eyes lit up when they saw Xu Liangchen, and their gazes were fixed on her.
Today, Xu Liangchen wore a light-blue long-sleeved shirt, jeans, and a pair of sneakers.
Her attire was no different from a regular person’s.
But she was beautiful and had a good figure, and even ordinary clothes made her look otherworldly.
Especially the shirt, buttoned all the way up to her throat, paired with her sharp phoenix eyes and unsmiling face, gave her an ascetic vibe.
Even the playboys who were used to seeing beautiful women couldn’t help but look her over and whisper among themselves.
Mu Nan stood at the door, looking inside. The hall was very large, filled with balloons and various colored streamers, decorating the entire space like a fun park.
This didn’t look like an 18th birthday party.
It felt more like a 10-year-old’s birthday, with all the vibrant colors.
Mu Nan’s eyes shifted to the others.
The sofas and spare chairs were filled with classmates. They were in groups of two or three, holding drinks and chatting and laughing merrily.
Xu Liangchen just glanced at them and said to Mu Nan, “Let’s go.”
Mu Nan nodded and followed behind her. They placed the gift and greeted Song Yu.
Seeing that Song Yu was alone, Mu Nan didn’t feel comfortable asking where his family was.
Xu Liangchen, of course, knew. Song Cheng hadn’t come back today, and the only person in the Song family besides Song Yu was Song Bei, and Song Bei never liked such lively occasions.
She was probably on the second floor right now.
Song Yu was a little surprised to see them. “You guys actually came!”
Xu Liangchen nodded. “Happy birthday.”
Song Yu scratched his hair sheepishly. “Don’t be a stranger, don’t be a stranger. Sit, sit.”
Xu Liangchen hummed in response.
From a distance, a classmate shouted, “Song Yu!”
Song Yu gave them an apologetic smile, greeted them, and then ran off in a hurry.
Xu Liangchen and Mu Nan sat on a sofa. As soon as they sat down, Mu Nan said, “His family seems pretty rich.”
Xu Liangchen lowered her eyes. “Yeah.”
How could they not be rich? They had their hands in both legal and illegal business.
Song Yu had always said at school that his family had “a little money,” and since he never deliberately flaunted his identity, everyone really thought his family just ran a small business with some spare cash.
Today, everyone’s jaws dropped.
He really has a little “spare cash.”
A girl sitting next to Mu Nan said, “Holy crap, Song Yu is actually Song Cheng’s son. My goodness, he’s good at keeping it a secret.”
“I know, right? It’s so scary.”
Another girl said, “I heard that the people in the Song family are not to be trifled with.”
The first girl quickly asked, “Why?”
The other girl’s voice became even softer. She glanced around, and seeing that no one was looking at her, she said, “I heard that the Song family has three children. The eldest is in business, monopolizing 40% of the city’s wealth. The second is in the underworld, and she’s ruthless. People like to call her the Second Miss Song. I’ve never heard much about the third one…”
Everyone knew who the third one was without her saying it. It was Song Yu.
He was probably the only person in the Song family who could be messed with.
Xu Liangchen heard this and smiled faintly, shaking her head.
She didn’t know that these rumors had been circulating outside.
While they were talking, a woman came down from the second floor. She had short, dark hair that covered her eyebrows, revealing only a pair of sharp eyes that made people feel they should not approach her.
She was like a sheathed sword, with a sharp edge.
She was wearing a black professional suit and was quite tall. Although she was a woman, she exuded a masculine aura.
Especially her eyes. They swept over the students, causing everyone to lower their heads and not dare to look her in the eye.
The entire hall suddenly fell silent, which was very odd.
Mu Nan felt it and wanted to look, but Xu Liangchen suddenly turned her head to look directly at her.
There was an unidentifiable emotion in Xu Liangchen’s eyes.
Mu Nan had never seen her like this.
She looked scared.
Mu Nan asked softly, “What’s wrong?”
Xu Liangchen slightly closed her eyes. “It’s nothing.”
Although she said it was nothing, the hand holding Mu Nan’s head was trembling uncontrollably, and her face was a little pale.
Mu Nan pulled her arm down and sat next to her. “You say it’s nothing, but what’s wrong with you?”
Xu Liangchen retracted her arm and forced a smile. “It’s really nothing. I’m going to the restroom.”
With that, she stood up and prepared to walk away. Mu Nan quickly followed. “I’ll go with you!”
Xu Liangchen stopped, wanting to refuse, but then tacitly allowed her to stay by her side.
After going to the restroom, when they returned, Song Bei was no longer there, but everyone was talking about her.
“Hey, was that Song Bei just now?”
“Yeah, yeah, she talked to me! She’s so handsome!”
“Come on, she’s not a guy. Why are you acting all infatuated?”
“I like it! She’s much more handsome than any guy!”
The students chattered excitedly. Xu Liangchen and Mu Nan returned to their seats. Xiaoxin came over with a drink, a gossipy look on her face.
“Mu Nan, Mu Nan, did you see just now? It was Song Bei!”
Mu Nan shook her head blankly. “Who?”
She had been so focused on the strange behavior of Xu Liangchen that she hadn’t had time to look at anyone else. Speaking of Xu Liangchen, where is she?
Mu Nan looked left and right. She had come back with her, but in the blink of an eye, she was gone.
Xu Liangchen had taken advantage of everyone’s distraction and slipped up to the second floor.
Song Bei was sitting on the sofa on the second floor, looking very serious, as if she were thinking about something, her brow constantly furrowed.
Not long after, she received a call, and her expression became even more grim. She finally said, “I want to see the person alive, or the body dead!”
Xu Liangchen knew who Song Bei was looking for.
She was looking for a traitor who had run away with all the goods and funds in a recent transaction, causing their business partner to believe she wanted to keep everything for herself. Because of this incident, Song Bei probably hadn’t been home for a week.
If it weren’t for Song Yu’s birthday today, she wouldn’t have rushed back from abroad.
And Xu Liangchen knew where that person was.
Song Yu finished the call and heard a noise behind him. He quickly turned his head and saw that it was a student. The fierce expression on his face softened, and he put on a smiling face. “Hey, student, the second floor is off-limits.”
Xu Liangchen had naturally seen the “no entry” sign on the door.
She walked slowly to Song Bei’s side, completely unaffected by the pressure from her gaze. Her phoenix eyes looked directly at Song Bei, as if she could see the thoughts in her mind.
Xu Liangchen suddenly smiled, and a little playfulness spread from her eyes.
A beauty’s smile was like a hundred flowers blooming. Song Bei felt her eyes light up. Then, Xu Liangchen said in a low voice, “Song Bei, I know who you’re looking for, and I know where that person is. Let’s make a deal.”
Coming from a seventeen or eighteen-year-old, these words brought a strange smile to Song Bei’s usually serious face, as if Xu Liangchen had told a joke that was beyond her depth.
“You should go downstairs.”
Song Bei was giving her the boot.
Xu Liangchen looked up into her eyes and said, word for word, “You’re looking for Chen Xiao, aren’t you?”
When Song Bei heard the name Chen Xiao, her expression changed slightly. Although she still had a faint smile, there was a hint of restraint in it.
Chen Xiao. Only a few people knew that Chen Xiao was the one who went to the transaction.
Although she had ordered a “hunt” for Chen Xiao, she was doing it secretly.
And there was no way this girl in front of her could have known.
“Who exactly are you?”
Xu Liangchen turned her back to Song Bei. “You don’t need to know. I’m just a student who wants to make a deal with the Second Miss Song. That’s all.”
“Making a deal with me? Aren’t you afraid I’ll force you to tell me?”
Xu Liangchen put her hands behind her back. “Since I dared to come here, I’m naturally prepared.”
Song Bei sat down again, lit a cigarette with a flick, and the smoke curled up from her side and floated under Xu Liangchen’s nose.
It was a familiar smell to her.
Xu Liangchen straightened her back even more. Her voice was no longer soft and clear, but cold.
“You help me deal with someone, and I’ll tell you where Chen Xiao is. How about it? Fair, isn’t it?”
At this moment, Song Bei wasn’t as curious about where Chen Xiao was. Instead, she was curious about who this girl in front of her wanted to get rid of.
Song Bei exhaled a puff of smoke, her delicate face barely visible. She kept her voice low. “Keep talking.”
Xu Liangchen knew she was interested.
“You help me get rid of Zhao Shi.”
Song Bei suddenly laughed out loud. “Zhao Shi? That young master from the Zhao family? I have no interest in solving grudges between high school students.”
Xu Liangchen wasn’t angry. She parted her thin lips. “Don’t you want the goods and the five million that were lost?”
A glimmer appeared in Song Bei’s eyes. This girl even knew the exact amount.
She shook her head. “No rush. We’ll find them eventually.”
It was true that Song Bei could find them without anyone’s help, but Xu Liangchen understood Song Bei.
Xu Liangchen interjected, “Is that so? Doesn’t the Second Miss Song hate waiting the most? And I’m afraid you’re not the only one who’s desperate for this information.”
“Tomorrow morning at eight, if you agree, have Song Yu bring me a flower in your name.”
Xu Liangchen rarely spoke so much. Her face was calm, as if she were talking about a trivial matter, but her hands were tightly clenched.
The truth was, she wasn’t 100% sure.
But she couldn’t let Song Bei see that.
Song Bei didn’t reply for a long time. Xu Liangchen turned around and walked to the door, her finger on the doorknob. She looked back and said, “By the way, my name is Xu. Xu Liangchen.”
Watching Xu Liangchen walk downstairs with a look of certainty, Song Bei stared at her back for a long time.
Her expression didn’t show that she had been threatened.
But she had, in fact, been threatened.
It’s laughable.
Being threatened by someone.
This was a first for Song Bei.
It felt very new, as if a new world had opened up.
Song Bei took out her phone. After a moment of thought, she pressed the call button. “Help me look up a person. A student in the same class as Song Yu, named Xu Liangchen…”
The person on the other end of the line respectfully agreed. Song Bei thought for a moment and then added, “Also, bring me the information on the young master of the Zhao family.”
She took a deep drag from her cigarette, and with the smoke swirling around her, she quietly added, “Have all the information for me before eight in the evening.”
Xu Liangchen, leaning against the door, listened to the phone call inside and quietly walked down the stairs.
She walked from the small hallway to the sofa where Mu Nan was sitting. Xiaoxin was still chattering away, recounting Song Bei’s great deeds.
Mu Nan was not very interested.
When she saw Xu Liangchen, her eyes lit up, and she quickly stood up. “Where did you go? I’ve been looking for you for a long time.”
Xu Liangchen sat down, her gaze glancing toward the second floor.
“It’s nothing. I just went for a walk in the garden.”
Mu Nan pouted. That was clearly an excuse. She had already walked back and forth in the garden several times and hadn’t seen her.
Seeing that she really didn’t want to talk about it, Mu Nan didn’t ask any more questions.
She sat next to Xu Liangchen, looking unhappy.
When Xiaoxin saw that someone was back, she felt that her topic was not suitable to be discussed in front of this straight-A student, so she held back her words and left them alone.
Xu Liangchen looked at the low-spirited Mu Nan, her eyes deep.
Mu Nan, just wait a little longer.
I will let you see Song Bei.
But not now.
I’m sorry.
