Wife, I’ve Been Reborn (GL) - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Song Yu’s birthday party didn’t last very long. In the evening, they moved locations, first to a restaurant and then to a KTV.
Because there were a few teachers present, they didn’t get too rowdy. Most of the students went home after dinner, and only a few of Song Yu’s close friends went to the KTV.
The new faces who had been staring at Xu Liangchen all day finally had a bold one come over and ask for her contact information.
Xu Liangchen just shook her head, her attitude distant.
Fortunately, seeing her reaction, the boys didn’t press the issue and just stood behind Song Yu with a smile.
Before leaving, the homeroom teacher asked Xu Liangchen where she lived and if she needed a ride.
Mu Nan, who was being ignored on the side, was a little bored. She thought to herself that good students really did get better treatment; even when they went out, the teacher still cared about them.
Other students also looked at Xu Liangchen, their eyes filled with envy and jealousy. A few whispered, but it was hard to tell what they were saying.
Mu Nan could guess from their expressions alone.
It was definitely nothing good.
Xu Liangchen politely declined the teacher’s offer, saying that she and Mu Nan lived near each other and that going home together was no problem.
The teacher had to nod and turned to the other students, saying, “Don’t play too late. Don’t be late for self-study tomorrow morning, got it?”
Song Yu took the lead and said, “Got it!”
The teacher pointed at his head. “Especially you!”
Song Yu lowered his head with a smile and saw the crowd off.
Xu Liangchen and Mu Nan didn’t take the bus. The restaurant was near the city center, close to their residential area, so the two of them walked one after the other.
They chatted about various topics.
When they were about to arrive at Mu Nan’s house, Mu Nan asked quietly, “Xu Liangchen, have you ever liked anyone?”
Hearing this, Xu Liangchen stopped and turned to look at her. In the light of the streetlamp, her expression was hard to make out, but her eyes were fixed on Mu Nan. The cold wind ruffled her hair, revealing her long, slender, fair neck.
“Yes.”
Mu Nan’s star-struck eyes instantly lost their luster. She coughed slightly to cover her embarrassment. “Is that so?”
After a while, she asked again, unwilling to give up, “What kind of person are they?”
Xu Liangchen turned back and walked forward. In her mind, she couldn’t help but think of what Mu Nan would look like in a few years. She lowered her head, her voice soft and clear, “A very special person.”
This time, Mu Nan didn’t ask any more questions and fell silent. Xu Liangchen walked her to her doorstep and waved goodbye.
Mu Nan thought to herself.
I think I’ve also fallen for someone.
She… is also very special.
It was already past ten o’clock when Song Yu saw all his classmates off. He sat in his car, looking lonely.
This expression was completely different from the one he had in the afternoon. When he was alone, he was actually not rowdy at all; he was very quiet.
Uncle Chen looked at him for a moment and asked, “Young Master, are we going home?”
Song Yu nodded.
Home.
Where else could he go?
Although he really disliked that house, or rather, that luxurious prison.
Everyone said the Song family was great, that they had power and influence, and that they could get whatever they wanted.
But he didn’t want any of it.
He just wanted his family to have a happy meal together.
Even that was a luxury.
His father lived abroad for most of the year and only came back three or four times. All the business affairs were handled by his older brother, and his second sister took care of the private dealings.
He sometimes felt that he was a bit redundant.
That’s why he never talked about his own affairs to others. The Song family was a symbol of immense honor in the eyes of others, but to him, it felt like a cage, trapping him inside.
He couldn’t move.
Today was his birthday, after all.
But his father and older brother still didn’t come back.
Although his classmates didn’t say anything, how could he not know what they were thinking? The third young master of the Song family, whom everyone envied.
He was actually not favored at all.
He didn’t even have his parents at his birthday party.
Maybe he should have listened to his father’s advice and started over abroad.
When Song Yu returned home, Song Bei was sitting on the sofa in the living room. The entire hall had been restored to its original state, and there was no trace of the lively atmosphere from before.
It was very cold and empty.
When Song Bei heard the sound at the door, she looked up and then lowered her eyes. “You’re back.”
Song Yu replied with a low hum.
Compared to his older brother, he was more afraid of this second sister.
She dared to challenge his father, Song Cheng, which even his older brother wouldn’t do.
A butler saw Song Yu and quickly came forward. “Did you eat, Young Master? The Second Miss has been waiting for you to come back before she eats.”
Song Yu’s eyes lit up slightly. In fact, he had not only eaten but had also drunk a lot.
But at this moment, he still said, “I haven’t eaten yet.”
Song Bei closed her files, stood up, and walked past him. “Let’s go. I made you some noodles today.”
The bowl of noodles was small, with a fried egg on top. The edge of the fried egg was a little burnt; it was clearly not a chef’s work.
Song Bei watched him pick up the noodles and asked softly, “Is it good?”
Song Yu nodded, his voice slightly choked. “It’s good.”
The butler, seeing the harmonious atmosphere between them, quietly left.
Song Cheng had three children, and the mothers of the three children were not the same person.
When Song Yu’s mother just married into the Song family, Song Bei’s mother had only been dead for three months.
Song Yu had always thought that Song Bei didn’t like him.
He wasn’t entirely wrong.
Song Bei did not like Song Yu much before. Her mother had just passed away, and her father brought a new person home, a woman who was visibly pregnant. Anyone could tell what was going on.
But she didn’t hate Song Yu just because of it.
After his first wife died, Song Cheng had many lovers. Song Bei’s mother was one of them and was only brought in after she became pregnant. However, after giving birth to her, her mother was always unhappy and passed away within a few years.
Then another one came in.
Song Yu’s mother.
She was very young, clingy, and had a gentle voice. She wasn’t bad to Song Bei.
When Song Yu was seven, his mother had an accident outside and also passed away.
After her, Song Cheng had surgery and never brought another woman into the house.
And he rarely came back to this home himself.
Song Yu’s older brother bought a villa near the company after taking over and never came back.
The three Song children had never been very close to Song Cheng. If it weren’t for their bl00d ties, anyone who saw them would think they weren’t a family.
Their relationship could be described in two words: distant and estranged.
Song Yu had just finished his noodles. When Song Bei saw that he was about to go upstairs, she said in a low voice, “Song Yu, do me a favor tomorrow.”
He turned to look at Song Bei.
This was the first time he had ever received a request from Song Bei.
As he turned, he met her gaze. They looked at each other for a while, and Song Yu asked, “What is it?”
Song Bei gathered the documents in her hand and lowered her head. “Help me take a message to one of your classmates.”
She then smiled faintly, and the sharp aura around her completely vanished. There was even a twinkle of a smile in her eyes.
Song Yu was stunned for a moment.
This was a completely unfamiliar side of Song Bei.
He returned to his room, holding the flower Song Bei had given him, and smelled it. It was refreshing.
Could it be that his second sister had taken a liking to Xu Liangchen?
