Wife, I’ve Been Reborn (GL) - Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Xu Liangchen felt the person in front of her suddenly tense up, and then her mouth was covered!
“Mmmph!”
Xu Liangchen tried to signal with her eyes for Mu Nan to let go quickly. She could have easily fought back, but doing so would also hurt Mu Nan.
Mu Nan shook her head, her eyes red. “I’m sorry.”
With that, she pulled Xu Liangchen and ran outside. At the corner, Xu Liangchen stopped and fiercely pulled her arm away from Mu Nan.
Her voice was no longer soft and clear, but a little aggressive. “Mu Nan, do you know what you’re doing?!”
She had seen Chen Jiao’s actions clearly just now. She had been guarding against Zhao Shi, but she never expected that it would be Chen Jiao who would truly push Mu Nan into a desperate situation!
Mu Nan looked up at her, her face full of tears and her body trembling. “I know.”
But her tone was firm.
Seeing her like this, Xu Liangchen couldn’t unleash any more anger. She bit down on her teeth, preparing to walk past her, but Mu Nan held onto her arm tightly.
Xu Liangchen suddenly roared, “Let go of me!”
Mu Nan’s eyes remained fixed on her.
Xu Liangchen’s pretty face was filled with anger. Sparks seemed to shoot from her phoenix eyes, staring intently ahead, her facial muscles tense.
She had always thought that someone like Xu Liangchen would always be calm and composed when angry.
But she wasn’t.
She would also get so angry that she would lose her composure.
What about me?
Mu Nan slowly closed her eyes, trying her best to calm down. Her fingers were no longer trembling, and although there was an emotion inside her chest clamoring to break out, she suppressed it fiercely.
After a minute or two, she opened her eyes again, and her expression was so cold that it was as if she were a stranger.
“What are you going to do?”
Xu Liangchen still couldn’t contain her anger. “You know what I’m going to do.”
Mu Nan slowly let go of her arm. “This is my business. You don’t need to get involved.”
Xu Liangchen was so angry that she laughed instead.
This is her business.
This is her business!
How ridiculous.
After she was reborn, she had been trying her best to prevent this from happening. And now, with one simple sentence, Mu Nan said it was her business, and she had no right to interfere.
How could she not know what would happen next?
Mu Nan’s pregnancy would be known by the entire school, and she would be forced to drop out. Later, Mu Nan’s parents would use a large sum of money to get her into another school, where she would study every day and her grades would improve by leaps and bounds.
On the surface, things were better.
But she was living a life that was neither human nor ghost.
Especially after she went to college, she was ostracized for her withdrawn personality. Later, when her high school incident was spread throughout the school by her classmates, Mu Nan couldn’t handle the pressure and chose to commit suicide.
After two failed suicide attempts, she finally jumped into the sea and met her.
It took her three years to get her to open up and learn how to interact with people again.
How could she let her fall into that same situation again now?
She was indeed powerless in this life. Getting rid of a single Zhao Shi still required making a deal with Song Bei, but she had never regretted it. She was so close to finally freeing Mu Nan from Zhao Shi’s clutches.
At this point in time, how could she give up easily?
Xu Liangchen became agitated at the thought. Sparks seemed to fly from her usually calm eyes. “I can’t control your business, but this matter, I’ve decided to handle it!”
With that, she took a big step, ready to leave, not even looking at the girl beside her.
The class bell rang, and students rushed back to their classrooms. Mu Nan, whose body was jostled, still tightly hugged Xu Liangchen!
There were no students around anymore; it was empty.
Just like Mu Nan’s voice.
“Please, just don’t get involved this time, okay?”
Xu Liangchen shook her head slowly. Mu Nan’s voice suddenly rose. “Xu Liangchen, what right do you have to get involved with me?!”
“Slap!”
Xu Liangchen slapped Mu Nan across the face with the back of her hand.
Mu Nan’s head was turned to the side by the impact, and the five-finger mark on her cheek was bright red.
She touched her cheek with her fingers. It was a stinging pain, and tears welled up in her eyes.
She looked a mess.
Xu Liangchen’s emotions calmed down a little. Her expression was a bit cold and severe, and her voice returned to normal. “Rather than having you regret this later, I’ll be the bad guy now and cut off all future problems!”
Mu Nan looked at her, her back to her. Her voice was unstable as she said, “Xu Liangchen, why are you being so nosy?”
Xu Liangchen’s steps faltered. Her nose felt a little sore.
Nosy.
She was reborn, and that’s all she got in return.
How ironic.
Seeing that Xu Liangchen hadn’t moved for a long time, Mu Nan pulled her hand and ran down the stairs, all the way out of the school.
The elderly security guard at the school gate only felt a gust of wind, and two shadows ran out. He followed them, shouting for a long time.
Mu Nan didn’t stop until they were far away. She was out of breath. The five-finger mark on her face was much clearer, showing that Xu Liangchen had put a lot of force into it.
Xu Liangchen was also a little out of breath. Her body was weak. A brisk walk was fine, but a long run was a bit strenuous for her.
Mu Nan pointed to a lake in front of them and asked, “Xu Liangchen, look, isn’t it beautiful?”
Xu Liangchen’s phoenix eyes swept over her, then her gaze fell on the wide lake ahead, which was deep and dark, and she couldn’t see the bottom.
“I almost drowned here once.”
“It was Chen Jiao who saved me.”
“She almost died to save me.”
Xu Liangchen frowned. “What are you trying to say?”
Mu Nan looked at the lake. The face with the five-finger mark was very calm, and her eyes were a little cold. This expression on her face looked particularly out of place.
“I want to help her.”
Xu Liangchen’s anger subsided a little. She walked to her side. “Mu Nan, there are some things you don’t know.”
“Then I don’t want to know.”
A flash of anger flared up in Xu Liangchen again. “Then even if you have to carry this burden for the rest of your life, you won’t regret it?”
Mu Nan turned to look at Xu Liangchen, a bitter smile on her face. “What can I do? I owe her.”
“You don’t owe her anything. All of this is her own doing.”
Although Xu Liangchen’s words were very cold and hard, she felt guilty toward Chen Jiao in her heart. Because of her interference, Chen Jiao had taken Mu Nan’s place in the spotlight.
If it weren’t for her, it would be Mu Nan carrying this heavy burden right now.
It was all because of her interference.
But she didn’t regret it.
The cold wind came, making their clothes puff up. Mu Nan’s hair flew, and she turned her head. The waves on the lake were lifted by the wind, crashing against the shore again and again.
Xu Liangchen kept looking at her profile, and her mood finally calmed down again.
Her voice was soft and clear. “Mu Nan.”
Mu Nan turned to look at her. The bright red handprint was still on her face, making her look a little funny.
Xu Liangchen’s voice floated in the air, very soft, but very clear.
“I’m sorry. I just don’t want anything to happen to you.”
