Wife, I’ve Been Reborn (GL) - Chapter 36
Chapter 36
In the spacious office sat two people, one in a sharp suit and the other in a school uniform. Both of them looked extremely serious, and the boy in the school uniform still had a look of indignation on his face.
He had been humiliated at school and couldn’t vent his anger. The pain on his face and body served as a constant reminder of what had just happened.
He had been set up!
And he didn’t even know who had done it!
He considered whether it was Chen Jiao and Mu Nan who had called the person, but he thought their social circle was so small that they couldn’t possibly know people like that. This thought made him even angrier.
He had the horrible feeling that his enemy was in the shadows while he was out in the open.
The worst part was that this matter had alarmed Zhao Sheng.
After the last incident, he hadn’t figured out how to explain it to Zhao Sheng and had been avoiding him every day after he got home.
Who knew he would run into a problem again this time!
Zhao Shi felt a little in awe of Zhao Sheng, who had been silent since they left the school office, but thinking of his own grievances, he spoke up for himself. “Brother! I was framed! I don’t even know that woman!”
Zhao Sheng’s expression was serious, and his eyes stared sharply at Zhao Shi. There were still bruises on his face, and his lip was cracked, making him look miserable.
Zhao Sheng’s tone was a little harsh. “Have you done few wrong things?”
Zhao Shi stood up abruptly. “Yes, I’ve done a lot of wrong things! But I’ll never deny what I’ve done! I really don’t know that woman!”
Zhao Sheng’s expression became even uglier when he heard this. His usually cold face was filled with a look of disappointment.
While the two of them were still at a stalemate, there was a knock on the office door. Zhao Sheng took a deep breath and said, “Come in.”
The secretary walked in with his head down, quickly went to Zhao Sheng’s side, and whispered, “Vice President, we’ve found out. The man is one of Song Bei’s people.”
When Zhao Sheng heard this, he frowned. “Song Bei?”
Why was it Song Bei again?
The secretary nodded. “It seems like this time, the young master might have been wronged.”
Zhao Sheng waved his hand to dismiss the secretary, and his expression softened a lot. Zhao Shi didn’t know what Zhao Sheng and the secretary had talked about, but he felt that Zhao Sheng’s gaze was no longer so harsh.
“Brother?”
He called out tentatively. Zhao Sheng responded, but he still held his ground. “Go home and pack your things. Get ready to go abroad. I’ve already contacted a school there. You’ll go first.”
Zhao Shi was not reconciled. He replied angrily, “Why?!”
Zhao Sheng looked at him fiercely. “Because you’ll only cause trouble if you stay here!”
Zhao Shi saw that Zhao Sheng’s mind was made up and knew that whatever he said would be useless. Zhao Sheng never considered other people’s opinions when he made a decision. After he had suppressed the matter with his second sister last time, he sent her abroad for recuperation. Even his parents’ repeated pleas for him to let her stay so they could take care of her couldn’t change his mind.
Zhao Shi was a little discouraged.
How could he have thought that he could change his brother’s mind?
It was a fool’s dream.
Zhao Sheng saw that his emotions had stabilized and patted his shoulder. “Don’t cause any more trouble abroad. Just behave.”
Zhao Shi didn’t respond. He picked up his bag and left without a word.
Zhao Sheng looked at his retreating back, a little dazed, and then shook his head.
Not a single one of them is easy to deal with.
The school’s decision was quickly finalized. This time, there was a school-wide announcement. The red paper detailing Zhao Shi’s disciplinary violations was posted on the bulletin board, along with the judgment.
Zhao Shi was expelled.
Effective immediately.
Mu Nan told Chen Jiao about this, but she didn’t tell her the reason. She only said that Zhao Shi had also transferred schools after she left. Chen Jiao didn’t have much of a reaction; she just said she knew.
Although she didn’t say much, Mu Nan could still feel the complexity in her tone.
Chen Jiao had not mentioned Zhao Shi at all after her surgery. Mu Nan had wondered whether she should tell her about Zhao Shi’s departure. After thinking for a long time, she felt that Chen Jiao had the right to know.
Even though she didn’t know what Chen Jiao’s attitude toward Zhao Shi was now.
Chen Jiao chatted with Mu Nan for a bit longer, saying that she would be leaving at the end of the month and asked if they could find some time to get together with everyone.
Mu Nan replied that the time was up to her and to let her know when she had decided.
Chen Jiao gave a “Mhm” and hung up the phone, seemingly not wanting to talk much.
Mu Nan was holding the phone, lost in thought.
That night, Su Li and Mu Dongshun were both home, which was rare. Mu Dongshun first asked about Mu Nan’s school life and then cautiously asked about the Chen family.
Chen Jiao’s father and Mu Dongshun had been colleagues for many years. His sudden resignation and Chen Jiao’s transfer to a new school made him realize that something was unusual, but when he asked Chen Jiao’s father, he didn’t say anything. Mu Dongshun could only take the time to come back and ask Mu Nan.
Mu Nan claimed that Chen Jiao didn’t like the school environment here and insisted on changing schools. The Chen family had always doted on Chen Jiao, so they had no choice but to go along with it.
Mu Dongshun was not very satisfied with this answer, but he didn’t say anything else. He just told Mu Nan to focus more on her studies and get into a good university so that he and Su Li could rest assured.
Mu Nan nodded obediently.
After the Chen Jiao incident, she realized that she was no longer as reckless as she used to be.
Mu Yang looked at Mu Nan with some curiosity. He had thought that Mu Nan would have acted spoiled and told Mu Dongshun that she didn’t want to go to university.
For her to obediently listen to the lecture was a first for the Mu family.
After Su Li went to wash the dishes and Mu Dongshun returned to his study, Mu Yang washed two fruits and handed one to Mu Nan. “Are you under too much pressure from school lately?”
Mu Nan took the fruit, looked at Mu Yang, and mumbled, “No.”
Mu Yang took a bite of his apple and sat down on the sofa. “You’re a bad liar. Look at how dazed you are.”
Mu Nan unhappily kicked his leg. Seeing him wince, she smiled. “You’re the one who’s dazed.”
Mu Yang rolled his eyes. “You’re crazy.”
He continued to watch his sports channel, but Mu Nan was watching him.
The words Zhao Sheng had said involuntarily came to mind.
He said that Mu Yang had been held captive by Zhao Lin for two days. She didn’t know what his life was like during those two days, yet he seemed completely fine afterward, and the entire Mu family was pretending that nothing had happened.
Xu Liangchen had told her that her parents and Mu Yang just didn’t want her to know about it. They didn’t want her to know about the wickedness and ugliness of the human heart.
Mu Nan couldn’t help but feel touched. She put down the fruit in her hand and sat down next to Mu Yang.
“Brother.”
Mu Yang threw away the apple core and looked up at her. “What is it?”
Mu Nan’s eyes were wavering. She coughed lightly. “I want a hug.”
Mu Yang had a look on his face as if she was crazy. Then Mu Nan threw herself into his arms. Mu Nan took a deep breath. Her nose was filled with the familiar smell of soap, which was completely different from Xu Liangchen’s scent.
But it made her feel at ease.
Especially at ease.
She had a warm feeling in her heart, as if she was being cared for by her family.
Mu Yang still didn’t understand what Mu Nan was doing. Su Li walked out of the kitchen and looked at the two of them hugging each other, feeling a little strange. These two usually bickered so much that they were on the verge of a fight.
She used her eyes to signal Mu Yang about what was going on.
Mu Yang’s handsome face was full of confusion. He shrugged and spread his hands.
He also wanted to know what kind of crazy fit Mu Nan was having.
