Wife, I’ve Been Reborn (GL) - Chapter 49
Chapter 49
In the small room, only the dim light from the bedside lamp was on. The curtains were tightly drawn, and a girl on the bed was pinned down by another person. The small space was filled with a rippling atmosphere.
Everything was reminding Xu Liangchen of what was happening at this moment.
“Mu Nan… stop.”
Along with her fragmented cries, Mu Nan, who was on top of her, didn’t get up. Instead, she bit down even harder on her collarbone. Xu Liangchen felt a sharp pain and her body recoiled.
The clarity in her eyes was long gone, replaced by a slight flush, and her face was also an unnatural blush.
“Mu Nan.”
“Mhm.”
Mu Nan lowered her head, her response muffled. Her hands had already let go of Xu Liangchen’s arms. Instead, they were wrapped around her body, and her cool fingertips touched Xu Liangchen’s skin through her shirt.
Xu Liangchen gritted her teeth. Admit it.
She didn’t want to push Mu Nan away at all.
She was clearly not that drunk. She clearly had the strength. But she just didn’t want to push her away. She just wanted to be immersed in this joy with her.
Before, she could still control herself like that because she thought Mu Nan would be Song Bei’s. At least, before she met Song Bei, she didn’t want her to be harmed in the slightest.
In this life, she wanted a complete Mu Nan to go to Song Bei’s side.
However, she was wrong.
She had forgotten about the self that should have no longer existed.
She existed now.
She had schemed in a thousand ways, but she never expected to mess everything up in the end.
Mu Nan and Song Bei had met.
But they would no longer have love at first sight.
How could she push this kind of Mu Nan to Song Bei again?
Mu Nan felt that Xu Liangchen was in a daze. She slowly unbuttoned her shirt. Xu Liangchen’s fair body was exposed to the air, causing goosebumps.
And Mu Nan’s head was buried in her chest.
It tickled.
Xu Liangchen’s body gradually softened. She slightly raised her head and saw that Mu Nan’s long hair had come loose and was scattered behind her. She wrapped her fingers in her hair and felt its smoothness.
An emotion was easily stirred up.
Xu Liangchen’s fingers couldn’t help but wander from her hair to Mu Nan’s earlobe. Mu Nan raised her head, which was buried in her chest. A pair of watery eyes stared at her, her lips bitten.
Xu Liangchen clenched her hands. Just as she was about to pull Mu Nan closer, the room door was knocked on.
“Mu Nan?”
It was Mu Yang’s voice. The two people in the room were startled. Mu Nan got off the bed in a panic. After tidying her clothes, she wrapped Xu Liangchen tightly in the blanket.
Mu Yang was standing at the door. “Mu Nan, I made some sobering soup. Give it to her to drink.”
Mu Nan lowered her head, walked out, opened the door, and took the cup from Mu Yang’s hand, her face flushed. Mu Yang didn’t suspect anything and didn’t forget to instruct her. “Go to sleep after she drinks it. She won’t have a headache tomorrow.”
Mu Nan replied softly, “Got it.”
She then closed the door with a bang, not forgetting to lock it. When she turned around, Xu Liangchen was already sitting up. Her expression had returned to normal, and even the slightly red eyes from before were now clear.
Mu Nan handed her the cup. “Drink this and have a good sleep.”
Xu Liangchen took the cup and patted the spot next to her. “Come here.”
Mu Nan jumped onto the bed, her eyes looking at Xu Liangchen with anticipation. She watched as Xu Liangchen finished the sobering soup, placed the cup on the desk, and then lay down on the small sofa.
“You!”
Mu Nan’s gaze darted around. “You sleep on the bed. I’ll sleep on the floor.”
Xu Liangchen’s voice was soft. She took a thin blanket from the bed. “It’s fine. Go to sleep.”
The small sofa wasn’t big. Xu Liangchen slept on it with her body half-curled. Mu Nan felt a little heartache looking at her. She stood in front of Xu Liangchen. “Go to bed. I promise I won’t kiss you again.”
Her face was very unnatural when she said this, and her attitude was a little timid.
Xu Liangchen lowered her eyelids.
She wasn’t afraid that Mu Nan would kiss her.
She was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to resist pouncing on Mu Nan.
“Are you going to bed or not? If you don’t, I’ll sleep on the floor!”
Mu Nan said with annoyance. Xu Liangchen sighed. “Okay, I’ll go.”
Xu Liangchen took the blanket and went back to bed. Mu Nan, who was behind her, looked pleased. She really did care about her.
This realization made her unable to sleep all night, tossing and turning.
Xu Liangchen was facing the wall, her eyes also wide open.
“Xu Liangchen?”
Mu Nan suddenly called out softly.
Xu Liangchen responded faintly. “Mhm.”
Mu Nan’s right hand secretly reached from her blanket into Xu Liangchen’s blanket, finding her hand. “Can I hold your hand?”
Xu Liangchen looked at the hand that had snuck into her blanket like a small snake and felt Mu Nan’s temperature, which was cool.
She didn’t object. She just said softly, “Go to sleep.”
Only then did Mu Nan close her eyes again. After a while, her breathing became steady. Xu Liangchen turned her head and looked at her. Under the dim light, Mu Nan’s sleeping form wasn’t clear, and there was a faint halo around her.
She just kept looking at her, her phoenix eyes filled with an inexplicable emotion. She suddenly leaned in and gently poked Mu Nan’s lips. Her voice was very soft. “Goodnight.”
When Mu Nan woke up the next morning, no one was beside her. She sat up abruptly and walked out without even putting on her slippers. Mu Yang was making breakfast and looked at her disheveled state, a little amused. “What’s wrong? Are you sleepwalking?”
Mu Nan scratched her head. Her voice was a little low. “Brother, where’s Xu Liangchen?”
Mu Yang pointed toward the door. “She left early, saying she was going home to get some things. As for you, did you sleep badly last night? She looked like she didn’t get enough sleep.”
Mu Nan smiled awkwardly. “I don’t think so…”
She really couldn’t remember.
Did she do something to scare Xu Liangchen away after she fell asleep last night?
Sigh!
Why couldn’t she control herself?
After a quick wash, Mu Nan ate breakfast. When she left, she glanced in the direction of Xu Liangchen’s house but didn’t see anyone walking over. She was a little worried, so she went to her house to find her.
Xu Liangchen had just left her house when she saw Mu Nan walking toward her. Her delicate brows furrowed slightly. “Why did you come here?”
Mu Nan took two steps forward and linked arms with Xu Liangchen. “I saw that you hadn’t come yet.”
Xu Liangchen’s gaze landed on the hand that was holding hers, but she didn’t say anything.
The two of them talked about some little anecdotes along the way, not mentioning what happened last night. Mu Nan was too embarrassed to talk about it. As for Xu Liangchen…
Mu Nan secretly glanced at Xu Liangchen. She still had that expression of not caring about anything.
Did she forget what happened last night?
It was possible. After all, she was drunk last night.
Why was she so unhappy?
Mu Nan pouted and stopped in the middle of a joke. Xu Liangchen didn’t rush her, still walking slowly.
When they were about to reach the school, Xu Liangchen heard music coming from her bag. She stopped, took out a blue phone from inside.
She had forgotten to return this phone to Song Bei.
The call was from Song Bei. Her voice on the other end was cheerful. “Do you have time tonight for dinner?”
Xu Liangchen rejected her directly. “No time. I have evening self-study.”
Song Bei wasn’t annoyed. “It’s fine. I’ll wait for you.”
Xu Liangchen wanted to say something, but Mu Nan was staring at her expectantly. She could only say stiffly, “No need. I’ll have Song Yu bring the phone to you.”
Song Bei chuckled. “I don’t think Song Yu would dare to accept that request from you. You should return it to me yourself.”
She hung up after saying that. The bell for class happened to ring. Mu Nan wanted to ask who it was, but she could guess from her expression.
Her eyes couldn’t help but dim a little.
The two of them arrived in the classroom. Song Yu was vividly recounting what happened at the dinner party yesterday. When he mentioned that Xiaoxin and Zhang Wei had kissed, the entire class erupted, almost tearing the roof off.
Mu Nan and Xu Liangchen stood at the door, watching as the students inside kept shouting, “Get together, get together!”
Their gazes, however, were on Xiaoxin and Zhang Wei.
Mu Nan suddenly thought of what happened last night. A little color returned to her pale face.
Yeah, what was she afraid of?
Xu Liangchen didn’t like Song Bei anyway.
Even if she had to compete fairly with Song Bei, she wasn’t afraid.
At least, last night, Xu Liangchen didn’t reject her.
With that thought, Mu Nan’s mood improved a lot. She returned to her seat and looked at Xiaoxin’s blushing face, which reminded her of Xu Liangchen lying in bed last night.
As she thought this, her gaze landed on Xu Liangchen and she saw that she was also looking at her. She quickly averted her gaze and coughed a couple of times awkwardly.
Xiaoxin’s deskmate saw Mu Nan sit down and poked her back with a pen. “Hey, hey, is it true? Did Xiaoxin and Zhang Wei really kiss?”
Before Mu Nan could say anything, Xiaoxin pounced on her deskmate. “You and your gossip!”
“Ah! Save me!”
The two of them wrestled with each other until the homeroom teacher entered the classroom. The class was still noisy. The homeroom teacher held her teaching stick. “You’re all in your third year of high school. Can you be more serious?”
The students’ gazes couldn’t help but fall on Xiaoxin and Zhang Wei again. “Oh…”
A burst of noise erupted again. Song Yu took the lead and stood up. “Teacher, we’re very serious. How about we let Zhao Xin and Zhang Wei lead us in the morning reading today!”
Zhang Wei’s grades were good, and he was often asked to lead the reading. But this was the first time Zhao Xin had been recommended. She gritted her teeth and glared at Song Yu. The class burst into laughter again when they heard what Song Yu said. Although the homeroom teacher didn’t know what had happened, it didn’t seem like a good thing.
She hit Song Yu’s arm directly with her teaching stick. “You, get out.”
Song Yu looked at the homeroom teacher pitifully. “Old teacher…”
The homeroom teacher replied unhappily, “What’s wrong? Do you want me to invite you?”
Song Yu made a face and walked out.
The noise in the classroom returned to calm.
The homeroom teacher asked Xu Liangchen to stand up and lead the reading. Mu Nan looked up at the standing Xu Liangchen. There were some dark circles under her eyes, and her face was pale. She really looked like she hadn’t rested well.
Mu Nan felt a little heartache and glanced angrily at the homeroom teacher’s seat.
There were so many other students with good grades.
But she insisted on calling Xu Liangchen every day to lead the reading.
She wasn’t giving her a moment’s rest.
After the morning self-study, Mu Nan brought Xu Liangchen a cup of hot water. She heard Xu Liangchen say, “You go back first tonight. I have something to do…”
Mu Nan placed the cup on her desk. “Are you meeting with Song Bei?”
Xu Liangchen nodded. “Mhm, I have something to tell her.”
Mu Nan lowered her head. “Can I… can’t I go?”
Xu Liangchen turned her head to look at her. She saw a hint of panic and nervousness in Mu Nan’s eyes. She smiled faintly. “You can.”
