Wife, I’ve Been Reborn (GL) - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
After the Movie: A Curious Gift and a Confrontation
Back in the classroom, students were still enthusiastically discussing the movie they had just watched. Xu Liangchen followed Mu Nan, carrying her own stool. From time to time, Mu Nan would turn back and ask her, “Is it heavy? Do you want me to help you carry it?” Her eyes showed concern. Xu Liangchen didn’t answer, just looked at her, until Mu Nan’s fingers waved in front of her eyes, then she slowly replied, “No need.” Mu Nan shrugged and casually turned to continue walking.
Most of the students were already seated in the classroom. Mu Nan returned to her spot and found a bottle of drink on her desk. A sticky note was attached to it. It read: “Do you like it? ^^ [smiley face]”. She frowned in puzzlement, the handwriting was even worse than hers. Xu Liangchen saw Mu Nan holding the drink, her expression unreadable.
“Let me in.”
Mu Nan came back to herself. “Oh…” She put the drink on the desk, then sat down to organize her books. From the moment Xu Liangchen sat down, her gaze was fixed on the drink bottle. She naturally knew who sent it, but she didn’t intend to tell Mu Nan. Anyway, someone would naturally come over to claim credit soon enough.
Zhao Shi sat in the seat in front of Mu Nan, a fawning smile on his face. “Are you free after school?”
Mu Nan then remembered something and pointed at the drink bottle. “Did you send this?” Zhao Shi quickly nodded, looking as if he was waiting for praise. “I bought it specially. I heard you like this flavor.”
Heard, heard. It was probably from Chen Jiao. When did Chen Jiao defect? What happened in the time it took to watch a movie?
“She doesn’t like it.” Before Mu Nan could open her mouth to refuse, a faint female voice came from beside her. The smile on Zhao Shi’s face almost faltered. Xu Liangchen raised her face from her book, propping her chin on the back of her hand, her phoenix eyes sweeping over Zhao Shi’s face, her tone even colder and more distant. “Didn’t you hear clearly?” Her attitude was arrogant. Mu Nan turned to look at her, sighing inwardly, So imposing.
Wait. This was her potential romance! How did Xu Liangchen know whether she liked it or not? Although she really didn’t feel anything for Zhao Shi…
Zhao Shi stood up, his tone angry. “Xu Liangchen, don’t go too far!”
Xu Liangchen’s lips curved into a faint smile. “Same to you.”
“Hmph!” Zhao Shi turned to leave, but then heard Mu Nan quietly call out, “Hey!” He put his smile back on and turned to look at her. “Are you trying to make me stay?” Mu Nan placed the drink from her desk into his palm. “Here, take it back.” Zhao Shi’s crescent-moon smiling eyes instantly disappeared, and he left with some resentment.
Xu Liangchen saw him leave, then lowered her head to read. “Zhao Shi isn’t a good person.” Mu Nan nodded. “I can tell.”
Xu Liangchen heard this, turned to look at her, and said with a hint of teasing, “I can’t believe your judgment can be this good sometimes.” Mu Nan rolled her eyes. “Of course! Who do you think I am? I’ve been through a lot!”
Xu Liangchen’s body shivered at the phrase “been through a lot.” Her gaze then unconsciously darted to Mu Nan’s chest, small and delicate. She extended her right hand, looking at her palm. Now, it probably wouldn’t fit in one hand. Then she shook her head, her expression conflicted.
Whenever she closed her eyes, she could recall the scene in the assembly hall while watching the movie. The scent she smelled when she woke up was Mu Nan’s. The small, delicate belly button that entered her sight was Mu Nan’s. The soft, smooth skin her cheek brushed against was Mu Nan’s. She could even imagine Mu Nan’s reaction every time she licked that skin, lightly biting her belly button—radiant as a peach blossom, with seductive eyes, countless times more beautiful than her current face!
Mu Nan saw Xu Liangchen’s face growing redder and asked with some concern, “Are you okay? Has your fever gone down?” Her lips were pink and soft, opening and closing.
Xu Liangchen swallowed, her voice low. “I’m fine.” Mu Nan then ignored her.
…
The Essay Assignment and a Puzzling Exchange
The last class was Chinese. The teacher walked in, smiling, holding a book. “We won’t continue with the lesson this period. Each of you will write an essay about your thoughts on the movie we just watched.” After saying this, the teacher’s gaze rested on the class troublemaker. “Especially you.”
The troublemaker was named Song Yu. His name sounded as gentle as jade, but he was a firecracker of a person, causing mischief wherever he went. Yet, his family had some money, so the school teachers couldn’t do anything about him, turning a blind eye. Song Yu heard the teacher and raised his hand. “Teacher, don’t worry, what I hand in will absolutely satisfy you!” The classmates giggled.
The teacher tapped the long stick on the podium. “Stop talking, start writing quickly! If I see anyone talking again, stand up and write!” Song Yu mischievously stood up and smiled at the teacher. “Then I guess I’ll just stand up now!” Another burst of laughter erupted in the classroom. Mu Nan laughed so hard her stomach hurt, sprawling over her desk, her shoulders shaking.
Xu Liangchen looked at where the teacher was standing and nudged Mu Nan with her arm. Mu Nan didn’t feel her movement, still sprawled on her desk. Xu Liangchen had no choice but to take out a piece of paper and slowly wrote: “What movie did we watch today?”
Mu Nan saw a note passed over, the handwriting elegant and resembling Xu Liangchen herself. Such beautiful handwriting. She even felt reluctant to write her own messy script on it. After thinking for a moment, she tore a page from a nearby notebook.
“The movie was: Rainy Season.” She was afraid Xu Liangchen hadn’t understood, so she explained in detail. “It’s about the friendship between two girls from junior high to high school. They had a small conflict in the middle, but eventually resolved it. Anyway, just write about friendship, a few hundred words will do.” Mu Nan thought, movie reviews are always the same few lines. She just needed to tell Xu Liangchen the main idea, and since Xu Liangchen was so smart, she would surely understand.
To her surprise, a few minutes later, Xu Liangchen passed another note back. “Do you think there was a pure friendship between them?”
Mu Nan racked her brain for a long time, still not grasping the meaning of the question. What did “impure friendship” mean? Although the two girls in the movie did scheme and entrap each other for a scholarship nomination, they eventually gave up and chose to let bygones be bygones. Wasn’t that pure enough?
Suddenly, something clicked in her mind. A smile played on her lips as she wrote: “Definitely not pure! Just like us! Your Majesty, you’ve seen this servant’s body! You can’t abandon this servant!”
Xu Liangchen’s face darkened for a long time after receiving that note. Not long after, Mu Nan received another note.
“Not a serious moment.” The handwriting was clearly different from the first note, much more scrawled. She couldn’t tell if it was the writer’s heart or the reader’s heart that was in turmoil…
