Wish to Get Rich But Wear a Scumbag A - Chapter 37
Ke Wenxin claimed she was here to help, but she didn’t lift a finger.
Director Zhao wouldn’t let her.
“Congratulations to Qi Xingwan and Yan He for completing five tasks and securing Room C.”
Room C?
It has a fan!
Yan He let out a small cheer. “Yay! Zhou Yunuo and Mu Xu are such good people!”
Qi Xingwan calmly added, “You should get them a gift next time.”
Yan He: “Qi Xingwan, that’s wrong! You can’t give gifts in a proper competition! It’s disrespectful to both your opponents and yourself. Don’t even think about it again, okay?”
Qi Xingwan finally understood what “talking nonsense” truly meant. “Didn’t you just say you wanted to get Yunuo a gift? Did you forget your own words so quickly?”
Yan He: “That’s different! That was to thank her for letting us sleep on the floor. But now we don’t need to. If she wants to sleep on the floor in our room, what kind of gift do you think I should ask for?”
Qi Xingwan stopped dragging her luggage at the foot of the stairs. “It’s not even dark yet. Stop daydreaming. We’re in third place.”
The room featured a large wooden bunk bed, an old electric fan, and a makeshift bathroom partitioned off with curtains.
At first glance, the accommodation conditions seemed barely better than those of the last-place finishers.
Upon closer inspection, the difference was indeed minimal.
Zhou Yunuo must have had her head caught in a door to choose to sleep on the floor in my room, Yan He thought.
Heartbroken, Yan He let out a mournful “Moo” and hoisted her suitcase, bracing it against her stomach and knees as she lugged it up the stairs, one step at a time.
After two steps, she suddenly realized she could carry the suitcase upstairs without using her stomach or knees.
The fully packed suitcase no longer felt as heavy as she remembered.
Yan He realized Xiao Qi had mentioned her glands had fully developed, integrating her into the ABO world and completing her differentiation.
Since the Original Host had been an Alpha, Yan He had naturally differentiated into one as well.
Thanks to becoming an Alpha, her strength had increased, and she no longer needed to worry about her suitcase.
Having been caught in the rain, Yan He decided to offer the Female Lead an umbrella. She turned to Qi Xingwan and said, “Don’t bother carrying it. I’ll come down and get it later.”
Caring for the Female Lead starts with small gestures.
But why isn’t the scoring system giving me any favor points?! Yan He wondered, baffled.
Qi Xingwan was equally puzzled by whatever had happened to Yan He.
If it were anything else, she would have let her take it.
But not the suitcase. It contained her suppressants and suppression patches.
Under normal circumstances, people differentiated at eighteen. Those who hadn’t differentiated by twenty were generally considered Betas.
After differentiation, individuals experience a special period lasting three to five days each month.
Whether Alpha or Omega, this period negatively affects her, especially at work.
Temporary marks and suppressants offer temporary relief but are effective enough to ensure she can safely navigate her monthly special period without incident.
When both partners have healthy glands, marriage between an Alpha and Omega leads to permanent marking. This allows both to find comfort in each other’s pheromones, gradually synchronizing their special periods.
The frequency decreases to once every three months, but each period extends to seven to ten days.
The problem lies in Yan He’s abnormal glands. She struggles to release pheromones, let alone mark an Omega.
Qi Xingwan’s heat still occurs monthly.
During her last heat, Yan He had been particularly hysterical, as if she viewed Qi Xingwan as an unbearable stain on her life.
Estimating the timing, Qi Xingwan’s heat was likely to occur in late June. With luck, it would coincide with a break in the filming schedule.
But if it didn’t…
Qi Xingwan’s fingers tightened around the suitcase handle as she mentally rehearsed excuses to keep Yan He away.
Though she had changed significantly recently, Qi Xingwan still didn’t dare take the risk.
If Yan He’s heat triggered memories of their humiliating wedding night, Qi Xingwan’s true nature would inevitably be exposed, and Director Han and the others wouldn’t stand idly by.
Qi Xingwan desperately wanted to spare her friends from being dragged into this mess.
“Why are you carrying that? Let me take it.”
Yan He set down her own suitcase and hurried back, spotting the Female Lead standing on the corner platform with her suitcase at her feet.
Yan He reached for the suitcase, but Qi Xingwan didn’t release her grip.
Outside the window, cicadas emerged from the earth, landing on tree trunks.
On the narrow handle, two hands gently overlapped.
Beneath their palms, they felt each other’s warmth—slightly cool yet a few degrees warmer than the air-conditioned room.
Yan He’s fingers unconsciously pressed down slightly before quickly retracting, her ears flushing crimson.
“No need, I can carry it myself. Go fix the fan first,” Qi Xingwan said, pulling her suitcase away. Though she smiled, her tone left no room for argument.
Faced with her sudden defensiveness, Yan He felt a pang of disappointment, but she understood.
It’s all the Original Host’s fault, that damned bastard!
Hey, did Yan He just leave like that?
What else would she do? Qi Xingwan clearly said she didn’t need help. Deaf much?
Qi Xingwan was obviously just embarrassed. Yan He’s so clueless.
What’s there to be embarrassed about with family? Stop overanalyzing.
**Can some people please stop being so self-assured? Not every rejection is some coy act. *eye roll***
Where’s the interview footage? Why aren’t they showing it to us? @Lover, Hello!
Probably saving it for behind-the-scenes content. The next episode is a week away—they can’t starve us in the meantime.
The sun’s about to set. Where’s Sister Zhou?
**I heard they had a fight… *whispering emoji***
Dinner was prepared by the production team: a bowl of salad for each person.
Yan He stared at her salad for about ten seconds before incredulously calling out to Director Zhao, “Director Zhao, I’m not an actress. I don’t need to watch my figure. Please bring me a bowl of pig’s trotter soup and two ounces of braised beef. Thank you.”
Seeing Yan He take the lead, Li Jin immediately chimed in, “I don’t want pig’s trotter soup. Give me six ounces of braised beef, a plate of peanuts, and a bottle of beer.”
Director Zhao chuckled, “Are you two ordering from a menu? We’re in the middle of nowhere. Where am I supposed to find braised beef?”
Yan He picked the shrimp out of her salad and gave them to Qi Xingwan. “Then bring the pig’s trotter soup first. I’m starving.”
Li Jin thought for a moment. “Pig’s trotter soup is fine, but hold the broth.”
Zhou Yunuo silently swallowed a mouthful of salad that tasted like a grassy meadow. “If she doesn’t want it, I’ll take it. I want the peanuts and braised beef too.”
Qi Xingwan looked at the extra shrimp in her bowl, hesitating to speak.
The Yan He she knew had always been meticulous, even separating chopsticks for meat, vegetables, sweet, sour, spicy, and salty dishes. Now, she was casually picking shrimp for her with imported chopsticks.
Thank goodness I never developed the habit of sucking on my chopsticks, Qi Xingwan thought. Otherwise, I’d definitely sneak out tonight and turn off the fan to let Yan He roast.
Du Yihan was about to warn them when Zhou Yunuo immediately retorted, “With just this grass in your stomach, will you even be able to get up for your morning run tomorrow?”
Mu Xu frowned slightly. “Don’t eat it,” she advised. “You look better when you’re thinner. If you gain weight again, President Yu will be displeased, and it’ll add to the stylists’ workload.”
“If you like skinny girls, go find a skeleton. Mind your own business,” Zhou Yunuo snapped, her voice bristling at the sound of Mu Xu’s voice. “Old Qi, can I crash on your floor tonight?”
Qi Xingwan didn’t answer directly, instead turning to Yan He.
