Writing Love Letters in the Enemy’s Toilet - A Vow of Eternal Love, Even After Rebirth (Transmigration) - Chapter 36 – Vacation
At that time, in Animus headquarters, the executive Langstone was holding his head in frustration.
Langstone muttered, “To think they were hiding such a new weapon… Even if it was the Azure Dragon, against that new weapon… I’ll have to rebuild the whole plan again…”
Then Lucifer spoke up, “That was a fusion of three units — the Phoenix. Unless all three are gathered, it cannot be summoned.”
Langstone looked up. “Do you have a plan?”
Lucifer replied, “If even one of the Trinity’s pilots can be assassinated, the Phoenix will never appear. Judging from the test results of the Azure Dragon, the remaining two alone should be able to fight on equal or greater footing.”
Langstone frowned. “But within Animus, we don’t have anyone strong enough to pilot the Azure Dragon… nor someone skilled enough to carry out an assassination…”
Lucifer smiled faintly. “Please leave that to me. I have someone in mind.”
The next morning, Helios, Ares, and Tia gathered in the ICU. Lieutenant Camille came in and said, “According to the doctor, he’s passed the critical point. His condition is now stable.”
She continued, “You three haven’t slept, have you? You don’t need to be on standby today — take a rest. I doubt there’ll be another attack so soon, but if something happens, I’ll call you right away.”
The three sighed in relief. “Thank goodness…”
Ares stood up. “Then please, take care of Mares for us.”
Helios and Tia rose after him, and the three left the ICU together.
Later, they were in the cafeteria. After the tension had eased, Ares grumbled, “Now that I’m calm again, I’m starving.”
Helios nodded. “Then let’s stop by the cafeteria.”
While eating, Tia lowered her head. “Ares, I’m sorry. It’s my fault…”
Helios shook his head. “If anyone’s to blame, it’s me. I wasn’t focused enough on the enemy.”
Ares sighed. “You two, seriously, pull yourselves together! But still… Mares made it out alive. That’s what matters.”
Tia’s eyes welled up. “I’m really so glad…”
Helios turned to Ares. “By the way, why were you inside the White Tiger?”
Ares explained, “Ah, after Tia flew off, I looked down and saw Mares’ Trinity lying on the ground. I picked it up — and since it had come off, I thought… Mares must have died. When I realized that, I felt so helpless. I wanted to fight beside you, to avenge him. So I asked the White Tiger — just this once, lend me your strength. When I made that wish, the Trinity began to glow, and before I knew it, I was inside the White Tiger. Then the White Tiger spoke to me, saying, ‘Let’s take Mares’ revenge together.’”
