Yearning For Warmth, Day and Night - Chapter 38
Chapter 38: Remember
Wei Hui had heard her own heart beat countless times—steady, calm, frantic with illness, or wildly out of control—always through medical instruments. She never imagined a day when her heartbeat would reverberate through her eardrums, causing a strong, chaotic vibration.
The moment she was kissed, she pushed Eleven away, her delicate brows furrowed: “Eleven?”
Eleven still had her head tilted up, her face slightly flushed, her eyes dewy. Her grip on Wei Hui’s hand was exceptionally warm, unlike typical drunken symptoms, more like—Wei Hui lowered her eyes and continued to call out, “Eleven?”
She patted Eleven’s cheek; the touch was remarkably warm. Eleven found the hand against her skin refreshingly cool and comfortable. While staring at Wei Hui, she rubbed her face against Wei Hui’s hand, her movements like a cat’s, her gaze unrestrained and bold.
Wei Hui, seeing her like this, helplessly asked, “Eleven, do you still recognize me?”
Eleven smiled: “Third Miss.”
She still hadn’t let go of Wei Hui. As she spoke, she embraced her, rubbing her cheek against Wei Hui’s palm. Feeling unsatisfied, she moved her face closer to Wei Hui’s cheek and nudged it. Wei Hui’s breath hitched slightly, and she wanted to pull back, but she was held too tightly and couldn’t break free. Thus, she was molested a second time.
The rich scent at her nose, alluring as if enchanting, caused Wei Hui’s heart to accelerate inexplicably as Eleven rubbed her cheek against her own, beating even more frequently than before. Her heart finally couldn’t bear such a high load. She grunted softly, collapsing onto Eleven.
Pain, a sharp pain, radiated from her chest, along with breathlessness. She was about to call out to Eleven for her medicine when her lips were kissed. This time it was substantial, not a fleeting touch. Eleven had never kissed before; she was merely relying on instinct, lightly biting and nibbling at Wei Hui’s lips, her tongue darting into Wei Hui’s mouth, sweeping around, demanding every sweet drop of nectar. She heard Wei Hui call out, “Eleven…”
The fragmented sounds seemed more like an invitation.
A thin sheen of sweat broke out on Wei Hui’s forehead. Her lips were sealed. Beneath the throbbing of her wildly beating heart, she could still feel Eleven’s nimble tongue wandering, and her body oddly reacted. This feeling was truly awful!
She clutched her chest, and just before she succumbed to fainting, she grabbed her phone from under the pillow and threw it forcefully at Eleven!
The weight on her body stiffened for a moment, then immediately left. As it did, she heard Eleven’s annoyed voice: “Th-Third Miss.”
“My medicine.” Wei Hui was already at her limit. Her fingers trembled, and her body quivered slightly. Eleven, seeing this, disregarded everything else and found the medicine in her bag. She poured two pills for Wei Hui, who swallowed them without even water.
“Are you alright?” Eleven’s heart ached at Wei Hui’s weak appearance. Wei Hui’s pajama buttons were half-undone, her bra showing. Her chest rose and fell dramatically with her breathing, and her long hair was disheveled. Eleven didn’t dare to look around, she just lowered her head, her skull aching in waves, and a constant surge of shame.
She had actually done that to the Third Miss just now.
She was truly audacious!
Eleven was so ashamed she wished she could burrow into a hole!
After taking the medicine, Wei Hui leaned against the headboard, calmly buttoning her pajamas and pulling the covers over herself. Finally, she asked, “What did you eat tonight?”
Eleven looked up at her question, her eyes red-rimmed and dewy. She shook her head: “Nothing.”
Wei Hui coughed softly, seeing her reaction, and said, “Hold out your hand.”
Eleven extended her hands, her palms still sweating, steaming with heat. Wei Hui’s cool fingertips touched them lightly, and she softly asked, “How does it feel?”
Eleven bit her teeth, silent. Wei Hui lost patience: “Speak.”
“Very, very comfortable.”
Her honesty prompted a few more light coughs from Wei Hui, and her breathing quickened slightly. Eleven immediately said, “Third Miss, please rest first. I won’t get on the bed. I promise.”
She said, putting down her raised hand as if afraid Wei Hui wouldn’t believe her: “Or should I go outside?”
Afraid of seeing an expression that she would hurt her again, Wei Hui gently shook her head: “Is there anywhere else on your body that’s uncomfortable?”
“Don’t hide it, tell me truthfully.”
Eleven could only tell Wei Hui all the uncomfortable parts of her body. Finally, she added, “I’m sorry, Third Miss, I didn’t mean to. I don’t know how—I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
Her voice was choked with tears. She really hadn’t been able to control herself just now, acting like a madwoman.
Wei Hui softly interrupted her, asking, “The scent on your body, who gave it to you?”
“Scent?” Eleven’s muddled mind thought for a moment, then she said in a very low voice, “It was Miss Du.”
Wei Hui pressed her hand to her forehead and told Eleven, “Go take a shower.”
Eleven, even in her slowness, understood the meaning. She hadn’t realized that Du Yue Ming’s “private collection” meant that. But thinking about it, it certainly wouldn’t be some skincare product. She was so stupid!
The sound of water splashing echoed from the bathroom. Wei Hui leaned against the headboard, drinking a cup of warm water. Her heartbeat had already stabilized; the chaotic sensation from earlier felt like an illusion. But the feeling of lips colliding, that softness against her, lingered. Every time she thought of it, her heart skipped a beat.
She closed her eyes, her tongue pressed against her lips, which tingled slightly.
Eleven’s kiss was utterly haphazard, driven entirely by instinct, lightly biting and nibbling, taking everything she could. Wei Hui had never imagined she would be forcibly kissed one day, and even less that after being forcibly kissed, she would still feel a lingering desire.
She was truly losing her mind.
When Eleven came out of the bathroom, she saw Wei Hui lying on the bed. She didn’t dare to walk over, but instead stood far away and said, “Third Miss, please rest first.”
Wei Hui tilted her head to look at her and called out, “Come here.”
Eleven hesitated, then walked over, but didn’t get into bed. She just stood by the bed, head bowed, wringing her pajamas. Wei Hui saw her and softly said, “It’s fine, get into bed and rest.”
“But I just…”
Wei Hui interrupted her: “If I say it’s fine, it’s fine.”
Eleven had never dared to defy her decisions, but this time she didn’t comply. She stood rooted to the spot and said to Wei Hui, “I’m sorry, Third Miss, how about I sleep on the sofa?”
“Come up.” Brief, cool, her tone already filled with impatience. Eleven bit her lip and walked to the other side of the bed, pulled back the covers, and lay down, turning her body sideways. Wei Hui saw her actions and reached out to turn off the bedside lamp. Silence returned to the room.
Neither of them was asleep, but neither spoke. Wei Hui lay awake, tilting her head to look to the side. After a long while, she asked, “Have you ever thought about finding your family?”
Eleven was still regretting what had just happened, filled with apology. At this question, she paused for a few seconds, then came back to herself: “No.”
“You don’t want to find them?”
Eleven shook her head: “I don’t know where to look.”
Wei Hui said in a deep voice, “What if I help you find them?”
“Would you go back?”
Eleven turned in surprise: “Third Miss?”
Wei Hui asked again: “Would you go back?”
Eleven remained silent in the darkness. Her parents were just a name to her. She was picked up by her grandma when she was four years old. Her grandma said that after the New Year, she went home to visit relatives and saw Eleven squatting alone in the snow, wearing ragged clothes. Her grandma took her home, changed her clothes, and took her to the police station, where they found no trace of her parents, suggesting she was most likely an orphan. So, her grandma took her back, giving her the name Eleven.
Therefore, she had no impression of her parents at all.
But as for Wei Hui—Eleven softly said, “No, I don’t want to go back.”
It seemed that only after doing something so bold to Wei Hui did she realize that she liked the person in front of her.
She wanted to stay in the Wei family, stay by Wei Hui’s side, and have a child with her.
She had agreed to that proposal, and she didn’t want money.
In the darkness, Eleven looked sideways at the person beside her. Wei Hui lay flat, her hands resting above the blanket. Hearing Eleven say she didn’t want to go back, Wei Hui frowned: “You don’t want to go home?”
Eleven replied: “I don’t have another home.”
Her voice was soft yet firm. Wei Hui turned her head to look at her, meeting Eleven’s gaze. In the dim light, their eyes shone brightly. They looked at each other in silence. Wei Hui turned her head to stare at the ceiling for a while, then fell asleep with steady breathing. Eleven, however, listened to her calm breathing and couldn’t fall asleep at all.
She was afraid of doing anything out of line again, so she stayed awake all night. By morning, there were faint dark circles under her eyes, and she looked listless and worn out. When Du Yue Ming came to knock on the door, Wei Hui gave her a glare. Du Yue Ming shrank her neck and found Eleven: “What’s wrong? Is she in a bad mood?”
Eleven saw her and remembered the thing Du Yue Ming had given her yesterday. She wanted to be angry but also felt that Du Yue Ming wasn’t wrong. In Du Yue Ming’s eyes, she and Wei Hui were indeed in that kind of relationship, so giving that—was understandable. So, she still answered Du Yue Ming’s question, softly saying, “Maybe she didn’t sleep well last night.”
“You’re amazing, sis,” Du Yue Ming said, looking proud: “You’re still the best. Did Wei Hui beg for mercy last night?”
“It’s not like that.”
“Not like that? Then what’s it like? Up and down? Left and right? Sideways? You two have so many ways!”
Eleven listened as Du Yue Ming became increasingly vulgar, shaking her head and going into the bathroom. Du Yue Ming leaned against the door, chuckling: “Hey, I was just joking. Remember not to use too much of that; only a small amount.”
The door opened. Eleven hesitated: “What happens if I use too much?”
Du Yue Ming laughed exaggeratedly: “Why even ask? Of course, you won’t be able to control yourself.”
Just then, her phone rang. She smiled at Eleven, turned, and went out to answer the call, bumping into Wei Hui who was returning. They met eyes, and Du Yue Ming winked at her with a smile. Wei Hui’s face darkened.
Facing Wei Hui’s stern expression first thing in the morning, Eleven felt a little startled. She put her changed clothes into her bag and said to Wei Hui, “Third Miss, I’ve packed all the luggage.”
Wei Hui nodded: “There’s breakfast downstairs. Go down and eat.”
“What about you?” Eleven looked at Wei Hui: “Aren’t you eating?”
Wei Hui glanced sideways: “I’m not hungry yet.”
Eleven saw her sitting on the sofa, her profile calm and indifferent. She inexplicably thought of last night’s scene. Eleven lowered her eyes and said very sincerely, “Third Miss, are you still angry about last night? I’m sorry, I won’t do it again.”
“Last night?” Wei Hui raised her eyelids and softly said, “What happened last night?”
Eleven stammered: “Last night I, I kissed, kissed—”
“Eleven,” Wei Hui smiled: “Sit down.”
Eleven didn’t hesitate and sat beside her, her face slightly flushed from her recent words, her eyes unable to meet Wei Hui’s gaze, darting away. Wei Hui moved a little closer to her. Their scents intertwined. Wei Hui placed one hand on Eleven’s shoulder and said in her usual calm manner, “That wasn’t a kiss.”
She met Eleven’s clear eyes, leaning in slightly. The vibrant red lipstick was striking. Eleven closed her eyes slightly, hearing Wei Hui say, “This is.”
Eleven’s eyes widened. Wei Hui’s image in her pupils became clearer and clearer. She froze. Wei Hui’s tongue swept across her lips. Unlike yesterday’s impulsive sensation, this kiss was full of tenderness and lingering affection. Her heart was instantly enveloped in candied sweetness, bubbling with sugary delight, a huge surge of pleasure rushing through her nerves. Her hands involuntarily wanted to embrace Wei Hui, but before she could touch her, Wei Hui released her. Her lip color seemed even more vibrant as she asked, “Did you remember?”
I, I remembered.
