You Are My Omega (GL) - Chapter 25
What does it mean to like someone? That is a truly profound question.
At an age when emotions are just beginning to awaken, neither Xu Shijiu nor Lin Xinyi truly understood the answer. But as time passed and their hearts matured through experience, one day they would come to understand what it really means to like someone. And what love truly is.
They had originally planned to travel during the winter break. The destination had already been decided. Hotels were booked and the itinerary was set. But then, a surprise came out of nowhere.
When Xu Manyue received a phone call from Liu Lingyan, whose voice was heavy with emotion, she immediately became anxious. She didn’t even think about Shijiu or the suitcase she had only half-packed. She rushed out the door in a hurry.
Xu Shijiu stood still, staring at her sister’s back as she disappeared. She hugged herself tightly and bit her lower lip without realizing it.
She felt as if her place in her sister’s heart had plummeted. In the past, her sister would have cared about her feelings and acted cautiously. But now, she didn’t even say a single word before leaving.
At first, Shijiu had watched Liu Lingyan’s television dramas only to observe and assess her. But as time went on, her attitude changed. She had to admit that Liu Lingyan was very beautiful, a perfect match for her sister. The shows she acted in were also genuinely good.
Watching Liu Lingyan’s dramas became something Shijiu included in her daily routine.
However, she only watched the parts where Liu Lingyan appeared.
Although she had never said out loud that she accepted Liu Lingyan, her actions made it clear enough.
After noticing Shijiu’s quiet acceptance, Manyue finally relaxed. So when Liu Lingyan called and asked her to come over in a worried tone, Manyue completely forgot about Shijiu and rushed to her side.
Shijiu had accepted Liu Lingyan in her heart, but she couldn’t accept the way her sister treated her so casually now.
Lin Xinyi couldn’t stand to see Shijiu looking so downcast. She placed a white T-shirt on Shijiu’s lap and said gently, “Come on, help me pack. I’ll hand you the clothes, and you fold them.”
“Ah…” Shijiu looked helplessly at the shirt in her hands. She didn’t object to Xinyi’s instructions, but she hesitated a little.
“How do I fold this?” she asked honestly, her eyes filled with sincerity.
Lin Xinyi paused while organizing her workbook. She looked at Shijiu’s innocent expression and suddenly had a bad feeling. Without saying anything, she quickly checked the suitcase that Xu Manyue had packed.
The Xu family was wealthy and privileged. There was a good chance the sisters had never done any household chores. If Shijiu didn’t know how to fold clothes, then Manyue probably didn’t either.
When she opened the suitcase and saw the chaos inside, it was clear everything had just been stuffed in randomly. Xinyi sighed with frustration. She didn’t even know where to begin.
“Is this how your sister usually packs when she goes on business trips?” Xinyi asked as she started to take everything out to refold it properly.
“Yeah.” Shijiu nodded, completely unconcerned.
It was just clothes, after all. Why not just toss them in? Why waste time folding?
“I don’t think we need to fold them…” Shijiu mumbled weakly, seeing Xinyi’s exasperated expression.
“Hm?” Xinyi looked at her with sharp eyes. The intensity made Shijiu tremble a little. She quickly nodded.
“Yes, we do. We have to fold them. You show me, and I’ll follow along.”
“That’s more like it.” Xinyi smiled, clearly satisfied with her attitude.
Shijiu did her best to fold the clothes properly, even if the end result wasn’t very neat. Xinyi patiently took each item Shijiu had folded poorly and refolded them one by one.
“You could’ve just folded everything from the start,” Shijiu muttered under her breath, pausing in frustration.
What was the point of making her try if Xinyi was going to do it anyway?
“You’re already grown up and still can’t fold clothes?” Xinyi teased her with a playful tone, pretending to be annoyed.
Shijiu’s lips twitched. She puffed out her cheeks and looked like she was ready to argue back.
But Xinyi seemed to expect this reaction. She proudly held up one of the neatly folded shirts to show off.
Shijiu had nothing to say. She looked at Xinyi’s perfectly folded shirt, then at her own wrinkled one. She let out a quiet huff and obediently went back to folding.
If Xinyi could do it, then she could too.
Even if Xinyi was older by one month, she was still an Alpha.
Xinyi quietly smiled when Shijiu wasn’t looking. She found that Shijiu was becoming easier and easier to handle. In the past, she would ignore her words and act stubbornly. But now, she was like a moody but easily soothed child.
After they finished packing Shijiu’s suitcase, Xinyi was just about to start packing her own when Xu Manyue suddenly returned. She hadn’t been gone long, but she came back bouncing with joy. She looked so excited that it was hard to believe she was the same calm and mature person from before.
“Sis?” Shijiu could hardly believe her eyes. Her sister had never cared much about appearances around her, but she had never lost control like this either.
Xinyi didn’t say anything, but the surprise in her eyes was obvious.
“Shijiu, Xinyi!” Manyue ran up to them, unable to contain her excitement.
“I’m listening. What is it?” Shijiu asked curiously. She really wanted to know what could make her sister so thrilled.
“Just listen to me!” Manyue grabbed Shijiu’s shoulders and gave her a small shake, unable to hide her joy.
Shijiu frowned as her mood suddenly soured. Even though her sister wasn’t shaking her hard, it still made her feel dizzy.
“Careful! Shijiu can’t handle that kind of shaking,” Xinyi quickly stepped forward and stopped Manyue.
“Yanyan is pregnant!” Manyue immediately let go of Shijiu’s shoulders. She tried to hold back her excitement as she grabbed Shijiu’s hands tightly. Her eyes were brimming with tears.
“Shijiu, you’re going to be an aunt!”
Shijiu’s eyes widened in disbelief. Xinyi was also clearly shocked by the news.
“Congratulations, Sis!” Xinyi was the first to react. She offered her congratulations warmly and then looked at Shijiu’s expression before asking with concern, “Is Sister Liu doing well? How is her health?”
Pregnancy is always hard for an Omega. Not only does their body become more fragile, but their emotions also tend to become unstable. It’s easy for them to be affected, to overthink, and become sensitive.
“Ah… Yanyan is doing well. She’s still in the car,” Xu Manyue replied quickly. But when she saw the calm and distant expression on Xu Shijiu’s face, her excitement immediately cooled.
She suddenly felt a pang of regret. Just before she came inside, Liu Lingyan had specifically reminded her to keep her emotions in check and to break the news to Shijiu slowly and gently. But she had been far too excited. She hadn’t listened at all and just blurted everything out without any warning.
There hadn’t been the slightest bit of buildup.
She didn’t know if Shijiu could handle the news.
Xu Shijiu sat in silence, looking at her sister who now seemed nervous and unsure. She didn’t know what to say, and even more so, she couldn’t find the words to explain the tangled emotions in her heart.
She had actually thought about this before. It was only a matter of time before Xu Manyue and Liu Lingyan had a baby. That would make her an aunt. After all, the two of them were practically inseparable. They clung to each other every chance they got and always spent their Omega heat and Alpha sensitivity periods together, often locked away in the bedroom.
But now that the moment had truly arrived, Shijiu didn’t know how she was supposed to feel.
It was just Liu Lingyan, and her sister had already begun to ignore her. Her place in her sister’s heart no longer felt as important. And now, with a baby coming… wouldn’t that mean she mattered even less?
“I want to go back to my room,” Xu Shijiu said suddenly.
“Shijiu…” Xu Manyue immediately sensed what her sister meant from those few words. Seeing that Shijiu was clearly unwilling to talk to her, she didn’t know what to do. She turned to Lin Xinyi with pleading eyes.
“I’ll take you back,” Lin Xinyi said softly. She gave Manyue a small nod, then followed Shijiu’s lead and gently pushed her back to her room.
The news had come far too suddenly. There had been no preparation at all, no emotional cushion for Shijiu.
In fact, Xinyi didn’t agree with the way Manyue had handled it. Shijiu had always lacked a sense of security. Telling her something so big without any buildup was bound to make her feel more uneasy and overwhelmed.
Xu Manyue stood frozen, watching Lin Xinyi wheel Shijiu away. She ran her fingers through her hair in frustration, full of regret. She had known this would be a sensitive issue for her sister. But in her excitement, she had said everything without thinking.
Without hesitation, she turned and rushed out of the house to find Liu Lingyan in the car.
When Liu Lingyan saw the regret and worry written all over Manyue’s face, she immediately understood what had happened. She gently shook her head.
“I told you to be patient and not act on impulse. But you didn’t listen,” she said, though there was no anger in her voice, only helplessness.
She had already guessed this would happen the moment she saw Manyue bouncing with joy as she ran inside.
“I was just too happy…” Manyue replied in a small voice. Then she noticed the concern in Liu Lingyan’s eyes and quickly tried to compose herself. She reached out to pull the Omega into her arms, leaning her head on her shoulder and intertwining their fingers.
“Don’t worry. Shijiu just needs time. Xinyi’s with her now. She’ll comfort her,” Manyue said reassuringly. She trusted Lin Xinyi completely.
“Shijiu loves children. She’ll love our baby too, I know she will. Just give her time.”
“For now, the most important thing is your health. You need to stay strong and healthy. That’s the most important thing, above all else.”
Manyue wanted to reassure Liu Lingyan in every way she could. It’s often said that emotions can affect physical health, and even though Liu Lingyan had always been healthy, Omegas naturally became more vulnerable during pregnancy.
“Speaking of which, Xinyi actually asked me about the entertainment industry recently…” Liu Lingyan said, trying to ease the atmosphere. The mention of Lin Xinyi reminded her of something else.
“Really?” Manyue was genuinely surprised and immediately focused on that. “She never asked me about it…”
Their winter vacation plans were clearly going to fall through. With Liu Lingyan’s condition, any unnecessary travel was out of the question. Although she had mentioned staying behind while Manyue took Shijiu and Xinyi on the trip, how could Manyue possibly leave her alone?
