You Are My Omega (GL) - Chapter 4
Back at the orphanage, Lin Xinyi had always been treated differently. From the moment she was born, she had already differentiated into a top-tier Omega. Because of that, the director gave her extra care. Her father’s military achievements also gave her a layer of protection. No one dared to mistreat her. But that didn’t mean the other children wanted to get close to her. In fact, they kept their distance.
Because of her classification, Lin Xinyi lived in a private room built specifically for Omegas. An Omega woman served as her dorm manager and looked after her personally.
Everything at the orphanage felt unfamiliar, but having another Omega nearby gave Lin Xinyi a small sense of comfort in an otherwise unsettling environment.
But the Xu family was completely different.
Everyone in the Xu household was an Alpha.
How could Lin Xinyi possibly feel safe in a house full of Alphas?
She was a top-level Omega. People had always treated her with special care just because of what she was. When she was little, she used to feel proud of it. But that feeling didn’t last. Once she understood what being a top-tier Omega truly meant, the world around her seemed to lose its light.
In today’s society, there were all kinds of rules claiming to protect Omegas. On the surface, it seemed like their status was noble and respected. But underneath that, what people really valued was one thing. Reproduction.
Top-level Omegas were seen as rare because their reproductive abilities were stronger than others.
Lin Xinyi had lost count of how many times she wished she were just a normal Beta. Better yet, if she had been born an Alpha, someone meant to lead and protect, her life might have been different.
The stronger the Omega, the more often they experienced heat cycles. Their bodies were also weaker. Even thinking about it made her realize how much money it would cost to afford the constant supply of Omega-specific inhibitors and suppression patches.
She looked at the table beside her bed. There, lined up neatly, were those expensive items made just for someone like her. Lin Xinyi felt her heart sink. It was as if a heavy stone named “money” had landed on her chest.
She was only eleven. Even though she was a top-tier Omega, she hadn’t yet reached the age when heat cycles started.
Typically, both Alphas and Omegas started experiencing heat and sensitivity around the age of fourteen. The first time was difficult for anyone, no matter what class they belonged to.
Right now, Lin Xinyi wanted to grow up quickly, more than ever before. But at the same time, she was scared. She was scared of change. Scared of the unknown. Scared of what her first heat cycle might be like.
Xu Father had said kind words, but Lin Xinyi knew the truth. His relationship with her father wasn’t as close as he made it sound. There was no way he brought her into this home simply because of friendship.
So when he offered to take her in only on the condition that she would become his daughter’s future wife, Lin Xinyi was not surprised at all.
Being Xu Xiaojiu’s fiancée and having the Xu family raise her in return sounded like a fair trade. But Lin Xinyi didn’t want to owe them anything more than she already did.
Even so…
She stared at the unpeeled labels on the suppression patches and inhibitor vials. The prices printed there made her chest tighten.
These things were so expensive. How was she ever going to repay that?
Her first night in the Xu house was filled with anxiety. She lay in bed with her eyes wide open until well past midnight. Only when her body could no longer handle the exhaustion did she finally drift off to sleep.
But even sleep gave her no peace. Her dreams were strange and twisted, filled with uncomfortable images that made her feel trapped and restless.
The next morning, something unexpected happened.
Xu Xiaojiu had clearly said she wouldn’t come out or see Lin Xinyi. But after being persuaded by Xu Manyue’s endless coaxing and tempted by the promise that she could ask for anything she wanted, Xiaojiu gave in.
With a sour look on her face, she let her sister push her toward the dining room. She glanced around the table and, not seeing Lin Xinyi there, let out a small breath of relief. She was just about to smile and remind her sister about their agreement when—
Lin Xinyi walked out of the kitchen holding a plate of pastries.
Xu Xiaojiu’s seat faced the kitchen entrance directly. The moment Lin Xinyi stepped through the door, their eyes met.
Xu Xiaojiu’s smile froze on her face. She stared at Lin Xinyi in a daze. Yesterday, she hadn’t really looked at the girl’s face. Her emotions had been too unsettled after that man’s return, and she still held some bias toward Lin Xinyi. But now, seeing her clearly for the first time, she suddenly realized something.
Lin Xinyi was beautiful.
Only eleven years old, yet her features already stood out. She had that kind of glow that caught attention. What would she look like when she grew up?
Were all top-tier Omegas this pretty?
That thought crept into Xu Xiaojiu’s mind before she could stop it. Her eyebrows pulled together in confusion, but she didn’t even notice how strange it was to think something like that.
Compared to Xu Xiaojiu’s shocked reaction, Lin Xinyi seemed perfectly composed. Even though she felt an Alpha’s gaze on her, she reminded herself that this Alpha was younger than her by a month and had not entered sensitivity yet. There was nothing to be afraid of.
She walked over and placed the plate on the table.
“Good morning, Sister,” Lin Xinyi greeted Xu Manyue politely.
Xu Xiaojiu raised an eyebrow, barely noticeable. She greeted her sister first, and her tone was so gentle.
Was she interested in her sister?
The Alpha’s nerves kicked in. Through the curtain of bangs covering her eyes, Xu Xiaojiu stared closely at Lin Xinyi.
When Lin Xinyi turned toward her, she saw Xu Xiaojiu’s eyes wide open behind those bangs, staring hard at her. Lin Xinyi had no idea how to respond.
Xu Xiaojiu gave a small huff as if she didn’t care, but her head lowered a bit and her hand quietly moved to cover her forehead, already hidden beneath her bangs.
Xu Manyue saw the small gesture and her heart tightened.
She knew. Xiaojiu was feeling insecure.
Lin Xinyi adjusted her expression, then looked at Xu Xiaojiu again. Her voice was clear and serious as she greeted her, word by word.
“Good morning, Xu Xiaojiu.”
Her eyes were calm and sincere, with no trace of pity or fake kindness.
Xu Xiaojiu slowly lowered her hand. Then she slowly looked up. And slowly, she met Lin Xinyi’s eyes.
What a beautiful voice. It was soft and gentle, yet carried strength.
It was the exact type of voice that suited the songs Xu Xiaojiu loved most.
She thought to herself that if Lin Xinyi ever sang, her voice would probably have a unique charm unlike anything she had heard before.
“Xiaojiu?” Xu Manyue noticed her little sister sitting silently for a long time and gently tapped her shoulder, worried something might be wrong.
“Hmm?” Xu Xiaojiu blinked and snapped back to reality, quickly turning her gaze away from the Omega.
What had she just been thinking? Those thoughts were strange and unfamiliar. Why had they come to her so suddenly? Why had she felt something she had never felt before?
That unfamiliar feeling scared her.
“Go ahead and eat. Xinyi, you don’t have to wait for us,” Xu Manyue said with a gentle smile to Lin Xinyi, then shifted her focus back to her sister.
Something about Xiaojiu’s behavior this morning felt off.
“Okay,” Lin Xinyi nodded softly.
Even though she responded and was already holding her chopsticks, she still hesitated to start eating. She waited quietly for Xu Manyue and Xu Xiaojiu to begin first.
Xu Manyue had no choice but to pick up her own chopsticks. She grabbed a dumpling and took a bite, then picked up a neatly cut piece of water chestnut cake and gently placed it into Xiaojiu’s mouth. Only then did Lin Xinyi begin to eat.
After breakfast, Lin Xinyi politely excused herself and returned to her room. The tension in Xu Xiaojiu’s body finally started to ease.
“So, what is it you want from me?” Xu Manyue asked as she guided Xiaojiu into the living room, trying to shift her focus. “But remember, you can only ask for one thing. Nothing too much and nothing unreasonable.”
To her, she had always been more than generous with her little sister’s requests. She didn’t understand why Xiaojiu had insisted on a deal this time.
“I want to see your Omega,” Xu Xiaojiu said bluntly.
“What?” Xu Manyue froze for a moment.
“I know you have an Omega,” Xiaojiu muttered, pouting, unable to describe what she was feeling inside.
The first time she caught a hint of Omega pheromones on her sister was when the suppression patch covering Xu Manyue’s gland had lost its effectiveness. Her sister had been so focused on work that she hadn’t noticed, but Xiaojiu picked up on it right away.
The scent had been faint, so she hadn’t been sure if it was something accidentally transferred or a sign of something more.
Until…
Until she secretly had a small camera installed on the balcony outside her sister’s room, the one that led to the back garden.
From that day on, every time her sister claimed to be staying in her room during her sensitivity period, Xiaojiu could clearly see her climbing down the balcony with a rope and sneaking out.
What left Xiaojiu speechless was that every single time her sister tried to climb down, she somehow managed to fall.
“I don’t have an Omega. Don’t make things up,” Xu Manyue said with a guilty smile but firmly denied it.
Ever since Xiaojiu’s incident, her personality had changed. She had become more guarded, unpredictable, and sharp like a hedgehog toward everyone—everyone except Xu Manyue.
Xu Manyue was still someone Xiaojiu could talk to. She knew her sister cared about her deeply. That was why she never mentioned anything about Omegas in front of her.
She was afraid Xiaojiu would overthink.
But now, how had she been exposed?
That part confused her. Her Omega was always careful. Every time before she returned to the Xu house, she made sure Xu Manyue had a fresh suppression patch and even covered her clothes with perfume to mask any scent.
Even during their moments together, the Omega was careful not to leave any marks or visible traces.
They had done everything to stay hidden.
So how did Xiaojiu find out?
Xu Xiaojiu let out a cold laugh, staring at her sister who still stubbornly tried to deny everything. If she wanted to play dumb, then fine.
She reached into her pocket, pulled out her phone, and opened the folder containing the hidden camera recordings.
Without a word, she placed the phone in front of Xu Manyue.
Now let her see for herself.
Let her explain, face to face, how she was going to twist the truth when the evidence was right there in front of her.
