You Are Really No Match For Me [Fighting] - Chapter 37
Bamboo grove in the park.
The evening breeze was gentle. After dinner, Wang Jiasong was strolling with his girlfriend, hand in hand, when his phone suddenly rang in his pocket.
“I’ll take this call real quick.”
He walked backward a few steps, grinning as he answered.
“Hey, Lao Guo, what’s up? Calling this late?”
On the other end, Guo Xiaodong’s playful voice came through:
“Wang Er, what have you been up to lately? You’ve been a ghost—skipping our drinking sessions, not watching the matches, not even coming to the gym. What’s with all the secrecy?”
Before Wang Jiasong could respond, another voice cut in, dripping with mock jealousy:
“Ha, you don’t know? Wang Er’s got himself a girlfriend! He’s been so wrapped up in her that he’s forgotten all about us brothers.”
Wang Jiasong chuckled and shouted into the phone:
“What, jealous much? Go get yourselves girlfriends if you can!”
Guo Xiaodong immediately followed up:
“Listen to him, all cocky now. So when are you going to introduce us to our sister-in-law, huh? Let us see what kind of enchantress managed to tame our Young Master Wang.”
The words fired Wang Jiasong up with sudden pride. He declared boldly:
“Fine, but I’ll need to check with my girlfriend first.”
Someone else chimed in:
“Tomorrow there’s a race on Panlong Road, right? Jiang Huai’s coming too. Why don’t you bring her along then?”
Wang Jiasong’s eyes lit up.
“Jiang Huai? That bastard’s back in Yun City too? Perfect. Tomorrow you’ll all get to meet her. But listen—watch your mouths, alright? My girl’s shy. None of that crude talk.”
Guo Xiaodong shrieked in mock outrage:
“Oh-ho, already shielding her before we’ve even met? Looks like Wang Er is serious this time!”
Wang Jiasong grinned smugly.
“You bet I am. This time, I mean business. Anyway, I’m off to meet my girl. You lot better dress sharp tomorrow—don’t embarrass me.”
The teasing still echoed through the phone when Wang Jiasong ended the call. Turning around, he saw Su Xi standing under the streetlamp with her arms folded. The warm light outlined her figure in a soft glow.
“Waited too long?” He hurried over, brushing his fingers lightly against her bare arm. “Cold? Want my jacket?”
Su Xi’s eyes curved into crescents as she nodded sweetly.
“Mm, then take it off.”
Quickly, Wang Jiasong shrugged off his jacket and draped it carefully over her shoulders. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he rested his chin on her head.
“You didn’t even pretend to refuse. Most girls would say ‘oh no, I’m fine.’”
The night breeze swept past. Su Xi wore a white sleeveless vest with a matching A-line skirt and high white boots, her slim arms exposed.
She deliberately leaned closer into his chest, tilting her face up to pout playfully.
“Why should I refuse? I dressed up so nicely today just to see my boyfriend. What’s wrong with wearing your jacket too?” She blinked innocently, feigning wide-eyed purity.
Unable to resist, Wang Jiasong pinched her rosy cheek.
“You little trickster.”
“It’s still cold though…” Su Xi rose on tiptoe, her lips brushing his ear as she whispered slowly:
“Can’t you… take off one more?”
Her fragrance drifted over, and Wang Jiasong’s ears turned red on the spot. He glanced down at his only remaining short-sleeved shirt, looking pitiful.
“Come on, grandma… if I take this off, I’ll be bare-chested.”
“Pfft—” Su Xi burst out laughing at last. “I was teasing you! Come here and hug me.”
Wang Jiasong swept her up into his arms. With her cheek pressed against his chest and his jacket around her shoulders, a warmth filled a place deep in his heart. Overcome like a schoolboy in his first crush, he tightened his hold and blurted out:
“Su Xi, I like you. I like you so much.
I can’t wait three months. I can’t even wait one day. I think about you when I eat, when I sleep—every second. I want to see you laugh, see you pout, even see you mad. Xi Xi… make it official with me.”
Su Xi gazed at him with shimmering eyes, silent. His fiery words hit a wall of quiet.
Wang Jiasong’s face fell.
“What’s that supposed to mean? You… you don’t agree? Am I not good enough?”
Wrapping her arms around his neck, Su Xi suddenly planted a kiss on his chin—then turned and walked away.
Realizing, Wang Jiasong touched his chin, then rushed forward, scooping her up in his arms.
“Hahaha! It’s official! I’ve got a girlfriend! I’ve really got a girlfriend—”
A jobless drifter smoking by the roadside snapped at the sight, like a hornet stirred from its nest:
“Damn you lovebirds! What the hell are you wailing about at night? Get lost already!”
Wang Jiasong, high on joy, instantly flared up:
“The hell did you just say? What’s my dating got to do with you, huh? Can’t get a girl yourself so you’ve got to ruin it for others? Pathetic piece of—”
The drifter hurled his cigarette butt to the ground, eyes red.
“Yeah, I said it! I hate you rich brats. We bust our asses working, every cent gone on rent and bills. And you lot? Nothing better to do than flaunt your money and your love lives! Goddamn parasites!”
He screamed hoarsely:
“Yeah, I’m a broke loser! What of it? Go on, hit me if you dare!”
Wang Jiasong’s hair nearly bristled.
“So it’s just plain jealousy, huh? Fine, if it’s a beating you want, I’ll give you one—”
He lunged forward, but Su Xi stopped him.
“Forget it. He’s upset. Let’s not provoke him.”
But the drifter grew even more worked up.
“What, you looking down on me—”
Clicking her boots, Su Xi strode forward, her long legs bringing her nose-to-nose with him.
“Yeah, I’m looking down on you. What of it? What are you doing here whining at the sky like a coward? So you’re unemployed—big deal. I was broke once too, but I never stood around whining like a child. If you’re a man, get up and find a job. Even being a security guard with food and lodging beats being a street rat!”
Then she tugged Wang Jiasong’s arm.
“Let’s go.”
Watching his usually soft, coquettish girlfriend go full-on lioness and roast the drifter into silence, Wang Jiasong swelled with pride. As she pulled him away, he gave her a secret thumbs-up in his heart.
Damn. So badass. No wonder I fell for her.
And just like that, he loved her even more…
The next morning.
Both of them scrambled to get ready—one slicking back his hair, changing ties and polishing shoes, the other curling her hair, spritzing perfume, and carefully lining her eyes.
By nine, Wang Jiasong was waiting outside in his flashiest Ferrari.
A long booted leg stepped out. Skinny jeans hugged endless legs, a silk blouse under an oversized blazer, wavy hair flowing in the breeze—breathtaking.
Wang Jiasong’s heart itched, and he leapt forward for a kiss.
Su Xi pinched his lips shut.
“No way. Took me an hour to do my makeup.”
“Just one kiss…” He mumbled through puckered lips, sneaking his hand toward hers.
“No.”
“Then at least let me hold your hand.”
“Fine.”
Locking her fingers tightly with his, Wang Jiasong puffed his chest.
“You’re so spoiled. Any other guy would’ve lost patience already. Only I’d put up with you.”
Su Xi shot him a lazy glance.
“Oh.”
That glance lit a fire in his veins. Unable to resist, he tapped her nose with his. Smiling uncontrollably, he said:
“You know I’m helpless against you. A rich young master, tamed by this wicked little minx—”
Su Xi twisted his waist.
“Wang Jiasong!”
“Ow ow ow! I yield!” He laughed, opening the passenger door with a bow.
“Your chariot awaits, my lady. I’ll make sure you have the best day ever!”
Su Xi crooked her finger at him. He leaned in, puzzled.
“What’s up?”
She kissed him under the ear, leaving a bright red mark, then shut the door with a click.
Through the window, she watched him touch the lip mark, grinning like a golden retriever wagging its tail.
“Wife~” he crooned, vaulting over the hood with a single arm and slipping into the driver’s seat. Before she could react, he cupped the back of her neck and kissed her hard. Fierce and urgent, the taste of mint flooded her senses until a car honked impatiently behind them. Only then did they part, breathless.
Su Xi adjusted her collar, ears burning crimson. Who would’ve thought that in broad daylight, her little puppy could suddenly turn into a wolf, kissing her until her knees went weak, her mind blank…
Meanwhile, millions tuned into an equally electrifying livestream on StarCloud.
Under the spotlight, Xin Chuxiao stepped gracefully onto the stage. Her fitted blue ombré gown shimmered like liquid light as she moved. Facing the camera, she gave her signature dazzling smile:
“Good evening, dear viewers! Once again, it’s time for—”
Her voice lifted playfully, her eyes twinkling.
“That’s right, the event that’s crashed the servers three times already—‘Cybernetic Carnival Night’! The annual National Cybernetic Championship has begun! This is the official broadcast hall of Division Three’s preliminaries, and I’m your host, Xin Chuxiao!”
Thunderous applause and cheers erupted.
She turned to the guest seats, lowering her voice with mock mystery:
“Tonight we have three special guests. The first, I’m sure everyone knows well…
Once a legendary fighter in the cybernetic arena, though he was eliminated in the regional prelims, he reinvented himself in variety shows, winning fans nationwide with his athleticism and wit. Can you guess who?”
The audience roared as one:
“Wang Tao! Wang Tao!”
“Correct! You guessed it right away!” Xin Chuxiao beamed, gesturing invitingly.
“Let’s welcome—Mr. Wang Tao!”
Striding out from backstage, Wang Tao’s well-built frame filled his tailored suit. Waving to the crowd, he flashed his trademark roguish grin.
“Hey everyone!”
Now appearing as a special guest judge, his fame was sure to climb even higher.
Xin Chuxiao greeted him warmly.
“Welcome, Teacher Wang Tao!”
Wang Tao clasped her hand, winking.
“Funny, they say cameras never do beauties justice—but Xin really is more stunning in person.”
“And Wang Tao is even more handsome than on TV,” she teased, drawing another wave of screams.
“Our next guest,” she continued, turning to the other side, “may be more familiar to you by his online alias—StarCloud’s own esports commentator ‘Big Pig Trotter,’ Mr. Ma Younian!”
“Hello everyone, I’m Big Pig Trotter.”
The bespectacled young man stood nervously, voice trembling.
“Greetings to the audience, to Host Xin, and to Teacher Wang Tao.”
Though known online for his fiery, razor-sharp commentary, in person he was a shy, delicate-looking youth who fiddled with his fingers and avoided the camera.
Xin Chuxiao laughed.
“Who would’ve thought the bold, passionate ‘Big Pig Trotter’ would be such a bashful young man in real life?”
Blushing furiously under her teasing, Ma Younian stammered for words, prompting warm laughter from the audience.
“And our final guest,” Xin Chuxiao said, voice softening, “is a rising star in the manga world—Miss Tong Xinying, currently serializing her fighting manga on AP!”
Three months ago, the mysterious creator launched Fighting Master on AP. With vivid colors capturing the heat of combat, inventive character designs, and professional-grade fight choreography, the manga took readers by storm.
When the series exploded in popularity, fans were stunned to discover at a meet-up that the skilled hand behind it all belonged to… a college freshman!
Dressed in a white dress, Tong Xinying stood nervously, took a deep breath, then smiled sweetly.
“Hello everyone, I’m Tong Xinying! I’m honored to be here alongside such seniors. I hope I can share a fresh perspective.”
She had picked up her pen again thanks to Jin Yu’s inspiration. Obsessed, she crammed fighting knowledge, even attending Jin Yu’s matches in person. The more she learned, the more she admired Jin Yu, pouring her heart into every page.
At first, she uploaded just for fun—but the response was overwhelming. Fans poured in, and soon she was sketching day and night, crafting original plots and even drawing fan works.
Her most beloved pieces—illustrations of Jin Yu herself—shone with a fervent devotion that touched readers, making Tong Xinying famous as the “fangirl artist.”
Invited now to the broadcast hall, she was both excited and nervous. But with her good upbringing and polite demeanor, plus her youthful beauty, she instantly lit up the room.
The audience erupted with cheers, whistles, and cries of:
“Go Tong Tong!”
“Welcome, dear guests!” Xin Chuxiao swept her gaze over the hall, pleased with the electric atmosphere.
“Here we are, live at the Division Three preliminaries. Today we’ll be covering the matches at Arenas 3, 5, 13, 16, and 28.”
Facing the camera, she flashed a dazzling smile:
“You, the viewers, will decide which arena we follow! Cast your votes online—your choice determines our focus! Remember, every vote counts!”
